WHITESNAKE CELEBRATE 30 YEARS WITH NEW CD AND TOUR

To celebrate their 30th Anniversary, Whitesnake will release "Good to Be Bad", through SPV Records in April, their first studio album in a decade. The album features 11 new, slamming Whitesnake songs which are guaranteed to take their place alongside their better known multi-million selling catalogue.

Legendary front man, David Coverdale, says, "The new album contains all the elements I enjoy about Whitesnake, and more. I can hear moments that take me back to the bluesy, early years of the band all the way through the band's musical history to fully embrace the more electric aspects of where we are now, as a band. I'm thrilled with it and can hardly wait to unleash it on an unsuspecting public! If this is indeed the last Whitesnake studio record then I'm happy to finish like this. It was a labour of love making this record...a joy... and I'm still enjoying listening to it. Can't be bad!"

The 11 new songs, written by Coverdale and guitarist Doug Aldrich (who also co-produced the album with Coverdale and Michael McIntyre) provide a good balance of 8 rocking tracks and 3 ballads. Coverdale feels it's the first 'real' Whitesnake album in almost 20 years, commenting "It's very butch. Very muscular..."

Track Listing:

1. Best Years
2. Can You Hear The Wind Blow
3. Call On Me
4. All I Want All I Need
5. Good To Be Bad
6. All For Love
7. Summer Rain
8. Lay Down Your Love
9. A Fool In Love
10. Got What You Need
11. 'Til The End Of Time

Album review

With their blend of hard rock, soul, blues, and balladry plus a healthy dose of priapic posturing and good time fun, Whitesnake brings a welcome, positive energy to the current musical climate. Their recent release "Live In The Still Of The Night" was voted Best DVD of 2006 by the readers of Classic Rock magazine.

On 9 June EMI release WHITESNAKE 30th Anniversary Collection 3CD Set

To mark the 30th anniversary, EMI are releasing a 3CD collection of their career highlights in a 3CD jewel-case set. The 30 year career-spanning tracklisting includes big rock hitters such as 'Here I Go again', 'Is This Love', 'Fool For Your Loving' and 'In The Still Of The Night'.

The set also covers highlights from some of Coverdale's other projects such as a fantastic live acoustic version of the Deep Purple classic 'Soldier of Fortune'. Sleevenotes are provided by Coverdale himself, and Mick Wall.

Album review

Additionally, Whitesnake will be taking to the road with Def Leppard, playing a series of co-headline shows across the UK in summer of 2008. The internationally renowned, multi-platinum band will be featuring songs from David Coverdale's colourful career including the hits (for the choir to join in with) and new material from 'Good To Be Bad'.

This is an opportunity to experience the ultimate line-up and celebrate 30 years of Whitesnake, who are:- Doug Aldrich on guitar; Reb Beach on guitar; Timothy Drury on keyboards; Uriah Duffy on bass; Chris Frazier on drums and of course, the inimitable David Coverdale on vocals.

"I can't wait to get back on stage - after being in the studio for most of 2007 I am most definitely ready to let off some steam. The front row should definitely be prepared!" says Coverdale

Special Guests on the tour are 'Black Stone Cherry' who hail from the USA and recently won Best New Band at the Classic Rock Awards.

From 1973 to 1976 Coverdale was the vocalist with Deep Purple, one of the biggest bands in the world. In late 1977, a year after leaving, he formed Whitesnake as a blues-based, melodic rock band to tour and promote his solo records 'Whitesnake' and 'Northwinds'.

The band then took on a life and an identity of its own, attracting not only the supporters from Deep Purple, but a whole new audience hungry for the blues, soul and good time rock Whitesnake offered.

In the early 90's Coverdale spent 3 years working with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, on the rock classic 'Coverdale Page' album, before retiring from the music business for several years.

RON GEESIN LIVE ON STAGE AND CD

Atom Heart Mother 2008 sees maverick composer, multi-instrumentalist and poet Ron Geesin return to the stage overseeing the live performance of "Atom Heart Mother", the orchestral rock-suite that took Pink Floyd to No1 on the album charts with their first gold record back in 1970.

"Atom Heart Mother" was arranged and scored by Geesin, and will be performed at two nights of the Chelsea Festival, 14 and 15 June. The performance will feature Italian band Mun Floyd; a ten piece brass ensemble from the Royal College of Music; cellist Caroline Dale; and the 40-strong chorus Canticum conducted by Mark Forkgen.

The performances will also feature archive material from the original recording and other music by Ron Geesin, including new scores created especially for the occasion.

For further info and to book tickets, please go to www.chelseafestival.org

A new 2CD set, Biting The Hand - BBC Radio Broadcasts 1969-1975 presents Ron Geesin's live and recorded broadcasts for BBC Radio, including those for John Peel and Bob Harris.

QUEENSRŸCHE TO TOUR UK WITH OPERATION: MINDCRIME I & II THEATRICAL EXTRAVAGANZA

Following the significant success of their US Tour, Queensr’che are to bring their theatrical show to the UK, hitting 10 venues across the country. Queensr’che perform their critically acclaimed and commercially successful concept albums: Operation: Mindcrime and Operation: Mindcrime II in their entirety in the UK for the very first time.

Operation: Mindcrime was released in 1988 and went platinum. The album tells the story of Nikki, a junkie who is manipulated by Dr. X into assassinating corrupt public figures, which conflicts with his love for hooker-turned-nun, Sister Mary. The album has often been compared to the likes of other notable concept albums, such as Pink Floyd's: The Wall and The Who's: Tommy. Operation: mindcrime II is set 20 years later and explores Nikki's life since his release from prison and answers the question "Who Killed Sister Mary?"

Queensr’che have taken the opportunity to make this tour much more than a concert: the show features surround-sound, video imagery and a full cast with actors re-enacting the storyline behind each of these albums. Lasting 3 hours (with an intermission), this is an epic piece of prog-metal theatre not to be missed.

Geoff Tate says, "This is the most extensive stage show we have ever put together. Working with the actors and creating the different scenes helped us to really tell the story. Between ritualistic execution, working prostitutes, motorcycle crashes and everything in between, we are able to really draw the audience in to the story."?

Queensr’che are: Geoff Tate (lead vocals & keyboards); Michael Wilson (lead & rhythm guitars); Mike Stone (lead & rhythm guitars); Eddie Jackson (bass); Scott Rockenfield (drums, percussion & keyboards).

RODRIGO Y GABRIELA ANNOUNCE ONLY UK GIG OF 2008: JUNE 25 - LONDON ROUNDHOUSE

Rodrigo y Gabriela return to London in June for their only UK gig of 2008. The June 25 date at London's Roundhouse will follow sold out tours in Australia, America and Japan - where Rodrigo y Gabriela's are currently one of the most successful international acts - and their first ever gig in their homeland Mexico.

Instrumental music has never sounded so good and the acoustic rock guitarists deliver a crowd-pleasing 5 star-rated show with their dexterity and virtuosity never failing to impress and thrill. Their third, and self titled, studio album has now sold in the region of half a million copies worldwide.

Rodrigo Sįnchez and Gabriela Quintero grew up in Mexico on a diet of rock and metal music and met whilst playing in the thrash band Terra Acida. The band had some domestic success but to make ends meet Rod & Gab entertained tourists and the like playing their favourite songs on acoustic guitars - think Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Testament. Relocating to Europe the duo took this acoustic-metal to the streets busking their way around the continent. They settled in Dublin where Damien Rice heard them playing on the street and asked them to support him on tour. A record deal followed and now, four CDs later, they have earned a reputation as one of the most impressive and talented live bands.

JETHRO TULL CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY WITH AN EVENING WITH JETHRO TULL UK TOUR AND REISSUED 'THIS WAS'

Jethro Tull are to celebrate their 40th Anniversary as a band with a mammoth 29-date UK tour and a reissue of 'This Was'.

EMI have announced the release on 28 April of a very special 2CD 40th Anniversary remaster edition of Jethro Tull's seminal debut album 'This Was'.

Disc 1 will be the album in mono which has never been on CD before, plus 9 BBC tracks from sessions which relate to the album.

CD 2 will be a new stereo mix of the album plus rare early singles tracks: Sunshine Day, Song For John Gee, Love Story and Christmas Song. The package will include notes and anecdotes from the band members.

Jethro Tull

Jethro Tull was initially a strange kind of blues band, mixing blues with folk and at times, hard rock. Their first line-up included Mick Abrahams, Glenn Cornick, Clive Bunker, and Ian Anderson. Band advisers tried and failed to persuade Ian to give up the flute and let Mick do all the singing, but it was Ian's stage performances that elevated the band above other blues rock bands of the time, and brought Jethro Tull to the attention of the media.

In the summer of 1968, they performed at the first Hyde Park Festival, opening for Pink Floyd and later that year they recorded their debut album.

This Was, released 40 years ago, reached number 10 in the UK charts, partly thanks to great airplay from BBC Radio DJ John Peel. In recent years, Jethro Tull and their music have featured in several TV shows, from the Sopranos (where Tony Soprano sang a Tull song) to Saxondale, Friends and Ugly Betty, who featured a name check recently.

Jethro Tull

On 5 May, Eagle Rock Entertainment release 'Jack In the Green - Live in Germany', a DVD that brings together TV/concert footage filmed during the period 1982-1993. The release is fully approved by Ian Anderson who contributes a liner note.

DVD review

In their 40 years, Jethro Tull have sold over 60 million albums and have performed over 2,600 shows in more than 40 countries.

Most performances of "An Evening With Jethro Tull" will feature a special guest, who fans will know and recognise, as Ian Anderson honours past band members, friends and local musicians. As well as performing a Tull song or two, guests might also perform one of their own songs.

Ian Anderson is taking this opportunity to thank Tull fans for their continued support over the past four decades by performing a bumper show which will provide a comprehensive trip through their history. Much of the show will focus on the first 3 albums - performing such early favourites as Serenade To A Cuckoo, My Sunday Feeling, Living In The Past, Bouree, A Song For Jeffrey and A new Day Yesterday. The band will also treat fans to some new songs, which are as yet unreleased as well as perennial favourites from their long career.

The band will consist of Ian Anderson on vocals, flute and acoustic guitar and Martin Barre, who joined at the end of 1968, on electric guitar. The rest of Jethro Tull are: Doane Perry on drums and percussion since 1984; David Goodier on bass and John O'Hara playing piano and accordion - who are amongst the 26 musicians who have been recording or touring members of Jethro Tull in the last 40 years.

On April 1, 2008, SATRIANI is set to continue his brand of electric education for the masses with the release of his 13th solo album entitled Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock (Sony/BMG).

Joe Satriani

Professor Satchafunkilus was produced through the creative envisioning of SATRIANI and John Cuniberti; guiding the musical talents of longtime drummer/percussionist Jeff Campitelli and reknowned bassist Matt Bissonette. A special addition to the album's artist list is Joe's own son, ZZ Satriani, playing the tenor sax.

Album review

Joe Satriani has been a worldwide guitar hero since his 1986 breakthrough album, 'Surfing with the Alien'. Over 10-million albums and CD's later, in addition to 13 Grammy nominations including this year for his latest studio release 'Super Colossal', Joe continues to push the envelope of modern rock guitar playing. Satriani is currently ranked as the 7th best electric guitar player in the world.

After releasing several critically acclaimed albums over 10 years, in 1996, Satriani and guitarist Steve Vai, embarked on the G3 guitar showcase tour, which became an annual event. By 2000, Satriani released the electronic album 'Engines of Creation' which earned him a Grammy nomination. Satriani went on to release his most recent live album 'Satriani Live!'. A new studio album is expected to be released in 2008 to coincide with the UK tour.

ERIC BURDON AND WAR REUNITE FOR ONE CONCERT ONLY LONDON ROYAL ALBERT HALL, MONDAY 21ST APRIL 2008

ERIC BURDON AND WAR, take the stage of London's Royal Albert Hall on Monday 21st April 2008 for one very special night of electrifying R&B, funk, Latin and jazz. This will be the first concert Eric Burdon and War have performed in 37 years since they originally disbanded in 1971.

Originally the front man of the Animals, the legendary Eric Burdon is considered to be one of the greatest blues singers in the world. His contribution to music by joining forces with War; possibly the most popular funk groups of the 70's, makes this one-off concert one of the hottest must-see tickets of 2008.

With a distinctive sound that captured the heart and soul of 1970's America, Los-Angeles based WAR played the music that made people dance and think.Their 1970 album Eric Burdon Declares WAR included two No. 1 worldwide hits - Spill the Wine, and Tobacco Road. The follow-up 1970 album, The Black-Man's Burdon featured the hit singles They Can't Take Away Our Music and a cover of the Jagger-Richards seminal track Paint It Black, amongst many others. Chris Rea

CHRIS REA PRESENTS THE FABULOUS HOFNER BLUENOTES - NEW SET PLUS TOUR

2008 will see Chris Rea, one of the UK's most respected guitarists and songwriters, embark on a major tour of the UK and Europe under the guise of two new musical creations, 'The Delmonts' and 'The Fabulous Hoffner Bluenotes'.

In addition, this month he releases a groundbreaking double CD, double vinyl, book collection which not only has perhaps some of his greatest songs to date but wraps them in a fictional historical context that the birth of rock 'n' roll in the form of beat combo. 'The Delmonts' to the band's reformation years later as the older and perhaps wiser blues influenced exponents, 'The Fabulous Hofner Bluenotes'.

Since Chris' well documented illness at the beginning of the decade he decided to fulfil his desire to create the music he wished to create rather than be under the influence of major labels, who could not understand his desire to explore his love of the blues and felt there was no market either, he subsequently went on to sell in excess of 150,000 copies of 'Dancing Down the Stony Road' proving, not for the first time, his instinct was correct.

Chris Rea

Unshackled by the demands of labels, his Jazzee Blue imprint has released his new projects including the highly innovative precursor to his latest releases, the enormously successful eleven CD book collection 'Blue Guitars'. For the first time, this collection highlighted Chris love of painting, which again confounded the music industry by selling again over 150,000 copies across Europe and becoming a phenomenon being distributed across supermarkets, book shops and record shops alike. This then switched on many labels to follow suit and format some releases from classic artists in a similar style. A compliment indeed.

Now with this new release 'Chris Rea Presents The Fabulous Hofner Bluenotes' and the accompanying tour, he again runs against the industry current by ignoring the download trend and not just expanding upon his vision for giving his fans more rather than less, but throws in for good measure a creative side which encompasses not just the albums' release but his tour as well.

The European tour including the UK leg will see for the first time an artist perform as both the headliner and the support band, unique indeed. 'The Delmonts' will bring their late fifties style of rock 'n' roll; all songs are written by Rea and see him performing his tribute to that genre in the band, then as the headliner he will be part of the blues based 'Fabulous Hofner Bluenotes' performing many of Rea's best known songs, as well as songs from the second CD on the new release.

Jeff Healey

GUITARIST JEFF HEALEY R.I.P.: GUITARIST AND BANDLEADER DIES IN TORONTO HOSPITAL

Following a lengthy struggle with cancer,Healey passes away on the eve of the release of a new blues rock album.

Jeff Healey, arguably one of the most distinctive guitar players of our time, died Sunday March 2 in St. Joseph's Hospital, Toronto. He was 41, and leaves his wife, Cristie, daughter Rachel (13) and son Derek (three), as well as his father and step-mother, Bud and Rose Healey, and sisters Laura and Linda.

Robbed of his sight as a baby due to a rare form of cancer, retino blastoma, and he started to play guitar when he was three, holding the instrument unconventionally across his lap. He formed his first band at 17, but soon formed a trio which was named the Jeff Healey Band.

At the time of his death he was about to see the release of his first rock/blues album in eight years, Mess of Blues, which is being released in Europe on March 20, and in Canada and the U.S. on April 22. The album was the result of a joint agreement between the German label, Ruf Records, and Stony Plain, the independent Edmonton-based label that has released his three jazz CDs.

Mess of Blues was recorded in studios in Toronto, with two cuts recorded at the Jeff Healey's Roadhouse in Toronto and two at a concert in London England. The backup group on the upcoming CD — the Healey's House Band — played with him regularly at the downtown Roadhouse, and at a previous club bearing his name in the Queen-Bathurst area.

Early last year, Healey underwent surgery to remove cancerous tissue from his legs, and later from both lungs; aggressive radiation treatments and chemotherapy, however, failed to halt the spread of the disease.

Despite his battle with cancer, he undertook frequent tours across Canada with both his blues-based band and his jazz group; he was set for a major tour in Germany and the U.K. and was to be a guest on the BBC's famed Jools Holland Show in April.

Remembered by his musicians - and his audiences - for his wry sense of humour as well as his musical playfulness, Healey was a unique musician who bridged different genres with ease and assurance.

GRTR!'s JASON RAISES THE STAKES AT CHARITY GIG

Bearstock 3 took place at The Hive, Brentford Football Club on Sunday 3 February. Among the artistes appearing, and freely giving their time and services, were Robert Rankin (pictured), Robb Johnson, Swill Odgers (ex-The Men They Couldn't Hang) and Paul Stead from melodic rockers Sacred Heart.

With the raffle added on the night, the event raised £632 for the four charities (£158 to each charity) - Diabetes UK, the Parkinson's Disease Society, Spelthorne Crossroads for Carers and Bees United.

Jason Ritchie, GRTR!'s News and Reviews Editor, said: "Thanks to all who came along and supported the event and BIG thanks to Brentford FC for allowing me to use the venue for free so every penny raised on the night could go to the four charities. A perfect night for me seeing people enjoy live musicians (all of whom were excellent) and raising money for charity."

The tireless Jason is still raising money for two other charities throughout 2008:

NEW CORAL SINGLE FEBRUARY 4

2007 has been the year in which The Coral put the problems of the past behind them and re-emerged stronger and brighter than ever. Current album, 'Roots and Echoes' was regarded across the board as a major return to form for a band who have been in the glare of the spotlight since their Top 10 eponymous debut in 2002.

With Q acclaiming lead singer and lyricist James Skelly as 'one of the finest writers, and voices, in British music today', NME seeing it as 'the finest since their debut' and the Daily Mirror conclusively stating 'you won't find a better album this year', the return of the Wirral six piece was the comeback of the year.

Little wonder that 'Roots and Echoes' is noted in many of the end of year polls for albums of the year. The year closed with the band playing three very special home town shows at Liverpool's Academy with supports from long term fans The Twang and The View in addition to original home town heroes Shack.

2008 sees The Coral release a new single from 'Roots and Echoes' in the form of 'Put The Sun'. The single is released on CD and two limited editions formats. Across the format are 3 exclusive new tracks, a live version of the single and the video. Details are as follows:

The single is availablwe in three different formats: CD 'Put The Sun Back'/Willow Song'/'Put The Sun Back' (Live)/'Put The Sun Back' (Video); 7" (1) 'Put The Sun Back'/'The Dance Lingers On'; 7" (2) 'Put The Sun Back'/'One Winters Day'

Rykodisc announces the release of the new Joe Jackson record on January 28, 2008. Entitled, Rain, it's the first Jackson record since the brilliant and critically acclaimed Volume 4 was released in 2003.

With a running time of over 40 minutes, the DVD will feature recent live performance footage, behind-the-scenes footage and a rare television interview.

"We decided to let Julie Gardner, who we've worked with for years now," says Jackson, - to follow us around as we worked, playing a live show, rehearsing, and just talking about playing together and our long history together as band mates and just mates."

The DVD will consist of three live songs that Jackson performed at London's Islington Academy on 24th May 2007. The songs performed include -Invisible Man", -Wasted Time" and -Good Bad Boy", all of which appear on the forthcoming studio album.

Dream Theater

DREAM THEATER RELEASE THEIR GREATEST HIT (& 21 other pretty cool songs) ON APRIL 1

After recently celebrating the band's 20-year anniversary, Dream Theater returns with its first-ever best-of collection. Spanning 1991-2005, the two-disc set contains rare single edits, B-sides and a trio of new remixes that spotlight that band's nonpareil musicianship, complex arrangements and amazing songwriting. Dream Theater's GREATEST HIT (…& 21 other pretty songs) will be available from April 1.

Referring to Dream Theater's first and only major radio hit, 'Pull Me Under,' the compilation's tongue-in-cheek title is a testament not only to the band's sense of humor but also highlights the acclaimed New York-based quintet's ability to make music and cultivate a legion of fans on its own terms, without help from radio or MTV. The collection features more than two hours of progressive hard rock from James LaBrie (vocals), John Myung (bass), John Petrucci (guitar/vocals), Mike Portnoy (drums/vocals) and Jordan Rudess (keyboards).

The collection contains three newly remixed versions of tracks from Dream Theater's breakout 1992 album, Images And Words: the aforementioned 'Pull Me Under' as well as 'Take The Time' and 'Another Day.' Portnoy says this album presented the perfect opportunity to give the songs a bit of a facelift. 'The original mixes always sounded a bit '80s' to me, so we had our good friend and longtime mixer Kevin Shirley give the tracks a bit of an update to sound more like the rest of the Dream Theater catalog. The songs remain the same (no pun intended-Kevin just mixed that album as well), but there are little nuances in the tracks that I forgot were originally there, and it's very cool to hear them again.'

The collection's 22 songs are split evenly between two discs, which are divided into 'The Dark Side' (the metallic) and 'The Light Side' (the melodic). Filled with some of the band's most sinister sounds, the first disc lives up to the billing of 'The Dark Side.' Longtime fans will appreciate the abundance of alternative versions of classic tracks, including single edits of 'Lie,' 'Home,' and 'Misunderstood.' Disc One concludes with two tracks from the band's 2005 album Octavarium: 'The Root Of All Evil' and 'Sacrificed Sons.'

The second disc, 'The Light Side,' spotlights the band's melodic side and features an alternate mix of 'Through Her Eyes,' a single edit of 'Solitary Shell' and 'To Live Forever,' a 1994 B-side from the U.K.-only single of 'Lie.'

A grassroots phenomenon for 20 years, Dream Theater continues to record studio albums acclaimed for award-winning musicianship as well as artistic vision. To meet the demands of a demanding global fan base, the band also maintains an active touring schedule that regularly includes sold-out performances around the world.

Dream Theater has currently been on the road since June 2007, travelling the globe in support of their latest studio album Systematic Chaos. Their world tour will conclude with a final run throughout North America in May as they premiere their 'Progressive Nation' package tour with Opeth, Between The Buried And Me, and 3 supporting.

IRON MAIDEN ANNOUNCE FULL DETAILS OF LIVE AFTER DEATH DVD AND US TOUR

Finally available on DVD for the first time, New Door Records/UMe are proud to announce the eagerly awaited release of the Double Disc DVD of LIVE AFTER DEATH, the legendary recording of Maiden's four night stand at Long Beach Arena, California, in 1984.

In the stores February 5th, 2008, the release will coincide with the start of the band's 'Somewhere Back In Time World Tour' on which they will recreate many of the aspects of this original and spectacular show.

Disc one contains the recording of this full 90 minute concert. Originally filmed on 35mm, the footage comes alive on DVD resulting in a visually stunning film that far outstrips the usual live video of the '80's.

The disc carries two sound options - the original concert audio specially mixed into 5.1 Surround Sound by Kevin Shirley, Maiden's producer since 1999, plus the original stereo sound track by Martin Birch, the band's producer from 1981 to 1993.

Originally released on video in 1985, this has been largely unavailable for the past 20 years.

Disc two has Part 2 of the 'History of Iron Maiden', continuing on the Maiden story from 'The Early Days' DVD, along with rare and unseen bonus footage in the form of BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN, ROCK IN RIO '85, and 'ELLO TEXAS, all in all giving a total running time of well over three hours. Plus of course the photo galleries, relevant promo videos, artwork galleries, tour dates, tour programme and other features which all combine to make Maiden DVDs a very special and utterly comprehensive treat for their fans.

Manager Rod Smallwood explained 'The original video of Live After Death has not been readily available for a long time so its good that we finally got around to this. lt was one of the first full concerts to be filmed after the advent of video and of course the live album, recorded on a different night to the video, has long been considered to be one of the seminal Metal live albums and has sold millions since. Fans have been begging us to do this DVD for some time now but we wanted to wait until we were able to recreate that whole tour to go with it and also to make it part of a series of DVDs that we are putting together around the band's history. And of course we are making sure that now we have got to it we will be giving the fans everything we can find from that period!!'

From onstage (Feb 19), amid the pandemonium in front of 14,000 screaming fans at a packed Los Angeles Forum, Iron Maiden announced the first leg of their eagerly anticipated North American summer tour.

Tickets for Iron Maiden's current SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME - WORLD TOUR 08 dates at the Los Angeles Forum and New Jersey's Izod Centre sold out months in advance, the band are delighted to announce they are coming back for more major USA concerts this summer which will take them to a number of cities they have not played in many years along with a return to the Los Angeles area with 2 nights at the 16,000 capacity Verizon Amphitheatre on Friday May 30 and Saturday May 31.

Tickets for the majority of these shows will go on sale to the public on Saturday, March 1st. TRIUMPH UNITES FOR SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL!

The classic Triumph line-up (Rik Emmett/Mike Levine/Gil Moore) could not have selected a better way to reunite after a two-decade absence - with what will undoubtedly be a show-stopping appearance at the 2008 Sweden Rock Festival. Held over a four-day span (June 4-7), the Sweden Rock Festival has been an annual event since 1992, and over the past few years, has been held in Norje, outside of Sölvesborg.

This year's festival is featuring one of its strongest line-ups ever - in addition to Triumph's highly anticipated appearance, such renowned groups as Judas Priest, Def Leppard, Blue Öyster Cult, and Whitesnake (among others) have also been confirmed.

"We have had Triumph in mind for many years and hoped that they would play together again one day . When we saw Triumph was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall Of Fame, then read some statements from the members that "maybe one day we will do something together again," we jumped in with an immediate offer - and it looks like we're helping write some new history! A fantastic band with so many classic albums is just what Sweden Rock Festival is all about. I am very proud to be able to present this band at this years Sweden Rock Festival. I'm just one of many fans that are looking forward to this fantastic show." - Ingolf Persson, Sweden Rock Festival.

As one of the godfathers of prog metal and leading lights of arena rock, Triumph formed in 1975, and built a large and loyal fanbase by the late '70s on the strength of their non-stop touring schedule throughout Canada and the USA and the success of their classic albums, 'Rock & Roll Machine' and 'Just A Game.' But it was in the 1980's when Triumph truly became a force to be reckoned with, as a string of gold/platinum-certified albums ('Progressions of Power,' 'Allied Forces,' 'Never Surrender,' and 'Thunder Seven') and classic hits ("Fight the Good Fight," "Magic Power", "Lay It On The Line") solidified the group as one of rock's top concert attractions.

With their music continuing to live on during their absence, fans will now finally get the opportunity to catch this live legend on stage once more.

KORN DVD LIVE AT MONTREUX 2004 OUT IN JUNE

Eagle Rock Entertainment announce the release on 30 June 2008 of Korn 'Live At Montreux 2004' Blu-Ray [Cat No ERBRD5011]. Featuring the classic original line-up: Reginald Arvizu (bass), Jonathan Davis (vocals), James Shaffer (guitars), David Silveria (drums) & Brian Welch (guitars) this show captures a full on metal set from one of the biggest names in rock.

Eagle was the first visual music company to embrace High Definition and their commitment to the new technology continues with new additions to their Blu Ray catalogue [The DVD version of this title is released on 12 May].

Korn came out of California in the early nineties and went on to become one of the most globally successful metal acts of their generation. They continue to play live to vast crowds and have record sales in the millions. This concert from Montreux in 2004 is their only performance at the festival to date. It was to be one of the last shows to feature the band's original line-up with guitarist Brian Welch leaving the group a few months later. The normally reserved Montreux crowd is transformed by Korn into seething, rocking mass with the largest (and probably the first!) mosh pit ever seen in the famous Stravinski Auditorium.

THE MIGHTY BOOSH ANNOUNCE FIRST MUSIC ACTS FOR FESTIVAL LINE-UP!

Indie behemoths, The Charlatans, Gary Numan, the 'Godfather of electronic music', hotly tipped dirt rock trio White Denim and abstract jazz-sters, Polar Bear have been confirmed as the first four music acts to perform at the much-anticipated Mighty Boosh Festival, which takes place at the Hop Farm in Kent on the 5th July.

Needing no introduction are one of England's most esteemed bands, The Charlatans, who are back in the hot seat with their tenth studio album, 'You Cross My Path' and have gone the Radiohead route by giving it away absolutely free. With well over 90,000 downloads so far and rave reviews all round, Tim Burgess and the boys bring their blend of edgy, well crafted pop tunes to the Mighty Boosh Festival.

Widely known for his chart-topping 1979 hits "Are 'Friends' Electric?" and "Cars" as much as he is for his odd-ball appearance and genre-hopping experimental tracks, Numan's influential signature style has been classified as everything from experimental, synthrock, synthpop, dark wave, new wave, industrial rock and post-punk, making him the perfect act to accompany the equally experimental and eccentric Mighty Boosh boys. Gary's legacy speaks for itself, and of course the boys are thrilled at his confirmation. Noel states;

"Having Gary on board is mental! He is a hero of mine and was always a first choice, having him perform at our festival is almost surreal".

Next up we have the awesome White Denim. Hailing from Austin, Texas this band is certain to enthral and entertain the Boosh revellers. As a feverishly creative ensemble this band have smashed in to the good books of music reviewers, garnering praise from the likes of NME who call them "local heroes, who are spelling out the future of dirt-rock in blood" and The Guardian who said they have "great riff and tunes, and like a genuine rock'n'roll band, sound genuinely hyperactive and deranged".

White Denim have toured extensively including dazzling showcases at SXSW Music Festival, and caused a massive stir at the recent CMJ Music Marathon. They also received the award of "Best New Band" at the 2008 Austin Music Awards. With their debut full-length LP release, entitled 'Workout Holiday', just around the corner, this is the perfect platform for the guys to introduce themselves to the UK's buzzing live music scene.

On a more experimental tip, abstract jazz collective, Polar Bear, compliment the quirkiness of the Boosh boys by bringing to the stage their unique blend of offbeat compositions. Music press have tipped these guys for big things. The Observer Music Monthly say, "Polar Bear blast out of the past, full of straight, cool school skills, and detonate the past, bursting with edgy, forward-looking lust."

Of course, no Mighty Boosh festival would be complete without a performance from the boys themselves. They will headline the day's events with a comedy extravaganza on the main stage.

Entertaining 30,000 fans, the Perrier, NME and RTS Award winners Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding AKA Howard Moon and Vince Noir, will delight fans with their magical and comical wizardry and take us on a hilarious journey from their Nabootique homeland to the very ends of the comedy universe!

The Boosh is also revered in the musical world and rub shoulders with the great and the greater of the music scene. The festival will therefore perfectly fuse the finest musical acts with their own spectacle, with the boys inviting some of their own special favourites to take to the stage with them!

Says Noel Fielding "We've never played a music festival before and a comic has never headlined at a festival before so we are seizing the opportunity and doing both!"

Further acts to be announced shortly.

Primal Scream is the latest band confirmed to appear at this year's Hop Farm Festival on July 6.

The Hop Farm Festival is a welcome return for Vince Power into the competitive festival marketplace and is set to become the most musically focused event of its kind in the UK.

Based at The Hop Farm in Paddock Wood, Tonbridge - The Hop Farm Festival - is a truly unique experience, with the event being totally unbranded, free of registration and without any VIP areas - with the aim of being a festival for festival goers, returning live music to its roots, where you turn up with your ticket and enjoy the same experience as every other ticket holder.

With the already legendary headline act Neil Young appearing, The Hop Farm Festival's additional superstar act will further underline the rise of the new prestigious Vince Power Music Group, which devised Europe's most exciting festival Benicassim in Spain - the continents 'Glasto del Sol' experience.

Vince Power says of this prestigious line-up "With an already first class act headlining this year's festival, I am thrilled that we have also secured one of the UK's most talented bands. TWENTYSEVENS TOUR IN JUNE/JULY

Aussie rock act twentysevens so impressed Status Quo when they played together down under that the veteran British band personally invited them to support them on their UK Winter tour. Now twentysevens are back with their own headline UK dates - as true fans of the British scene they could not resist playing The Cavern - and a new album 'Sex, Politics & Religion'. Later in the year the band will release a DVD documentary about their time on the road with Britain's favourite band.

'Sex, Politics & Religion' contains includes 13 new originals, plus - after being inspired watching Quo 31 times on the 06 tour! - a very different version of 'Pictures of Matchstick Men'. The album has been described as 'full of hard-edged blues & groove flavours', and will be available at the live shows and also at www.twentysevens.com from 16 June. The DVD about life with Quo is coming soon and is certain to be of huge interest to Quo fans, not least because most of them seem to be in the film!

WE DON'T NEED NO EDUCATION?

Mike Hurst's Rockmasters Easter Kids' School Rules

Your fifteen-year-old son is washing the car. Your twelve-year-old daughter has tidied her room at the first time of asking. What's going on? Come the start of the Easter holidays, kids all over the country are going to use every trick in the book to get themselves back into school - albeit "rock school". One man has a lot to answer for and, for once, it's not Gordon Brown. Music in schools is a hot topic at the moment, here's a solution to the twin problems of motivating kids and the falling availability of tuition hours.

Mike Hurst's Rockmasters is in its fourth year and is once again offering breaks with a difference in March and April - it's the 'educational' trip the kids want to take. Mike has created bespoke five-day non-residential rock music camps at Shiplake College in Henley-Upon-Thames, Oxfordshire.

The first week runs Tuesday March 25 - Saturday 29 March, the second runs Tuesday 1 April - Saturday 5 April NB Rockmasters also offer residential Summer courses held at Stowe School in July and August.

Though benefiting from the school's excellent facilities, Rockmasters courses are open to anyone aged between 12 and 20. Whether beginner or more advanced, attendees get to use our great equipment, learn directly from some of the greats of British music, build up their confidence, hang out with their peers and make some serious noise. Ability is not important, enthusiasm is. The kids learn how to improve on guitar / bass / drums / vocals but also how to really create a dynamic within a band. The kids are, indeed, alright!

Mike Hurst's Rockmasters offers great value for money, the five day non-residential courses are all inclusive of equipment, lunch and of course tuition (with discounts for 'bulk' band / family bookings). There are no hidden extras. Five days of hanging out and rocking out for them; five days of whatever you like for you! Places are filling up fast, as ever, but more information and all booking details can be found at www.rockmasters.net.

Mike Hurst is the man who discovered Cat Stevens and Marc Bolan, and he performed for years as part of The Springfields, alongside Dusty. The courses offer great value tuition from Mike himself and other pros such as Ray Fenwick [Spencer Davies Group / Ian Gillan Band], Clem Cattini [The Tornados] and Colin Farley [Cutting Crew]. Now school is cool! Who said, "We don't need no education"?
