After a few years of inactivity, Willowtip is extremely happy to have their releases available in Europe once again. Beginning in early October, Candlelight will manufacture and release all current and future Willowtip titles throughout Europe. Check it out here.   OBITUARY: 'Xecutioner's Return' out now Hitting stores in Europe on Monday 27th September, the album's release date triggers the start of a year-long media and touring blitz that will find this legendary Florida-based death metal band gracing magazine covers the world over. With a multi-tiered international touring plan, extensive promotion and marketing detail already in progress, "Xecutioner's Return" is expected to become the best selling album in Candlelight's history. OBITUARY's core of vocalist John Tardy, drummer Donald Tardy and guitarist Trevor Peres came together in 1984 forming what would become one of death metal's most successful and respected bands. Releasing the majority of their material for Roadracer, a now defunct division of Roadrunner, the band signed to London-based Candlelight Records in May of 2007. Since the union, OBITUARY have already kicked their aggressive touring plans into action, with visits completed to Australia & South America. The band is next scheduled for festival dates in Europe followed by the first of several US tours. Check out the finished artwork for "Odinist" here.   Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke: guest appearance on new OCTOBER FILE album Jaz has completed the vocals for his appearance on the forthcoming October File album. The Darker Side Now, years in the making, LIZZY BORDEN pulls back the cloak to unveil his latest and most frightening creation, "Appointment With Death" (2007), a fatalistic journey to the final destination damned by the wings of death. This is LIZZY BORDEN's first new studio recording since "Deal with the Devil" (2000). "Appointment With Death" was produced by L. Borden and J. Scott. It was recorded at the Zanzibar studios in N. Hollywood, CA and was mixed by Erik Rutan (HATE ETERNAL/ex-MORBID ANGEL) at Mana sound in Florida. ABOUT THE CONCEPT AND THE CHARACTERS ON "AWD" Like all past LIZZY BORDEN recordings, "Appointment With Death" is a conceptual piece; this concept is centered around the theme of, as the title implies, Death. "Oddly enough, writing eleven songs about death was no easy task for me; lyrically being graphic or grotesque would have been too easy, and being overly morbid would bring nothing new to the concept. I wrote this just like I have all of the other LB recordings, as a play or a movie. There is a beginning, middle and an end with the lead character taking us on a journey. Death is all around us, lurking, waiting to pounce, striking fear and antagonizing the living in many different ways, I tried to explore some of those ways in the most poetic way that I know how" commented Lizzy. The music on "AWD" was composed by Lizzy, Ira Black, Marten Andersson and Joey Scott "AWD" is epic, heavy, dark and melodic, everything a traditional Lizzy Borden recording should be and more. Ralis designed the set and the look of the band based on the theme for "Appointment with Death". The cover depicts Lizzy as the angel of Death in the action of collecting 3 souls who have ended their lives in 3 very different ways by their own hands. With a confirmed title of 'Till Death Do Us Part', the record promises to be Deicide's most savage and aggressive to date. Drummer Steve Asheim has begun the process by laying down drum tracks on a set of tracks that retain all the high speed intensity of the last album, but throw in a few surprises along the way. Asheim himself has this to say on the process so far: "The songs will have a very evil and chaotic nature to them and will include the extensive arrangements and riffage that made 'Stench...' so great." Fans worried about recent stories concerning the demise of the band can rest easy according to Asheim. "There's no mistaking...it's Deicide. It feels like a cross between 'Stench...' and 'Legion', and is definitely the next logical step for Deicide." Once the music is down, the final stage will be for Glen Benton to contribute his unique vocal approach, with recordings scheduled for completion as early as November.
