*****Behemoth finish shooting the new video clip for "Slaves Shall Serve"!

Behemoth once again joined forces with Joanna Rechnio, one of the leading video producers in Poland (who also directed Behemoth’s "Conquer All" clip), to shoot the new video for "Slaves Shall Serve" from their latest album "Demigod." Due to controversial scenes MTV has reportedly requested a "soft" version for possible airplay. Below read Nergal’s comment on the issue and check stills from the filming on www.behemoth.pl

"I’m still pretty pissed about it. I mean, check out all those hip hop or Marilyn Manson videos. Are they any less controversial than this? I doubt it. I hate going to any compromise but what the hell, I’m pretty sure that most of the video channels (read: most liberated and tolerant ones) worldwide will play the unedited version. The truth is that I had this need to express myself in a more…extreme way. For me it’s just another act of great transgression and manifestation of sincere and unrestrained ART. I guess that some of you, especially religious people would find it offensive…but hey, I’m not here to please any of you but to eventually make up your minds. This is how I see things and how I want you to receive me. Like it or not, this doesn’t really matter much to me. I did what I wanted and I’m damn proud of it. I felt like our statements in "No Sympathy For Fools," "Christians to the Lions" or "Slaves Shall Serve" have already been misinterpreted many times therefore making the "Slaves" video was essential to show our attitude towards all that has anything to do with Christianity (or in this case ANY stagnated, organised and institutional religions)."

Rechnio is a known producer of mainly rock and pop artists in her home country, Poland. Behemoth is her first ever-extreme metal experience.

"Since we’ve always striven for something more than being just another death or black metal band, we need to search in other genres to find inspiration. To be honest I’m truly bored by most of today’s metal videos. It’s not about metal being cliché but how it’s all being approached. Joanna did a great job with the last one, "Conquer All," but this time I think we went even further. First of all I made the whole scenario script weeks in advance. A really solid and detailed one. I also had more experience and knew exactly what kind of effect I wanted to achieve with this video so I had more control over things. It seemed that there was more of what I call "team work" between us and the director. This video speaks for it, I have no doubt. I also truly hope that most of extreme metal (and not only) fans will enjoy the effort we put in this one!"-Added Nergal.

Expect the worldwide premiere of "Slaves Shall Serve" in September!

*****Rock and Metal independent Century Media signs multi-territory deal with EMI*****

LONDON, AUGUST 1 2005 -- Century Media, one of the largest independent hard rock and metal labels in Europe has signed an exclusive licensing and distribution agreement with EMI Music.

Seattle band Nevermore's eagerly awaited new album “This Godless Endeavor” is the first album to be distributed by EMI under the terms of the new deal. Century Media has a roster of more than 70 artists, including Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil, Napalm Death, Shadows Fall and Dark Tranquillity.

Century Media has been successfully distributed in the United States by EMI-owned Caroline since 1997. This new multi-territory agreement will see EMI distribute Century Media repertoire throughout the UK and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The arrangement marks the first time that Century Media’s European distribution has been consolidated under one company.

Century Media was founded in 1989 by Robert Kampf, and has since grown into one of the biggest international rock and metal labels in the industry. The company operates out of London and Dortmund, Germany, and has further local operations in the USA and Brazil.

Jean-Francois Cecillon, chairman and CEO of EMI Music Continental Europe, commented: "For over a decade, Century Media has been at the international forefront of hard rock and heavy metal, genres which continue to be hugely popular across Europe and indeed the world. This is a terrific opportunity to broaden EMI's relationship with one of the key players in the independent sector."

Oliver Withöft, managing director of Century Media, London, and CEO of Century Media US, said: “EMI understands the independent market, and it has a strong local market presence that will help us to build the success of our artists around the world. We are excited to have extended our ties with EMI beyond America, and we have found an equally committed team in Europe who appreciate the dynamics and potential of our repertoire.”

The deal became effective in the majority of territories this month, and will take effect in the remainder over the coming year as Century's existing distribution arrangements expire.

EMI is the world's largest independent music company, operating directly in 50 countries. Its EMI Music division represents more than 1,000 artists spanning all musical tastes and genres. Its record labels include Angel, Blue Note, Capitol, EMI Records, EMI Classics, Mute, Virgin and Parlophone.

*****New releases from Karmageddon Media

Hearse: “The Last Ordeal”

It is easy to say that any new band featuring former members of an already popular band is sure to find high anticipation. The band can also, however, fall victim to much more critical listening than bands without said brush of fame. And so it was when Sweden's HEARSE released their 2003 debut-CD "Dominion Reptilian", that music critics and fans alike stood up with keen interest. The record was a refreshing hybrid of musical styles, an embodiment of melodic death, classic Metal and hints of a more groovier stoner influence. The album had amongst its ranks one fond character, the incredible voice of Johan Liiva. More than just the former vocalist of ARCH ENEMY some call Liiva "one of the most remarkable voices in Metal music" ! HEARSE released "Dominion Reptilian" and "Armageddon Mon Amour" to high acclaim throughout Europe and the U.S. The new album "The Last Ordeal" is much more detailed, much better produced and simply is better than the previous releases, without complaining on those albums !

Thyrfing: “Urkraft”

Exactly one year after "Valdr Galga" the follow up "Urkraft" was released. This time THYRFING headed to the Abyss Studio with Tommy Tagtren as producer. The album received amazing reviews everywhere and 2000 turned out to be one of the most successful periods of the band. Now available again.

*****EDGUY - update from Tobi***** ;

EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"I just wanted to state how happy I am with the first press reactions to our forthcoming EP, »Superheroes«, out Sep 5. I just thought I let you know, that the songs on this EP are REAL songs, not stupid bonus tracks and I would like to play some of these songs live as well! BUT: As they won’t be on any other release (except the title track): Please get this CD, so you KNOW the songs! First week of September is OUR week, okay? ;) I mean, listen to 'Judas At The Opera' and you'll know what I am talking about.

As for the DVD: You will love it, it's about 80 minutes at the price of a DVD-single only! So: NO RIP OFF AT ALL! Great quality and really funny stuff.

Okay, now I am off to prepare for the forthcoming shows — Munich, Wacken, Sweden and America... Stay tuned, we keep on working and you will not be disappointed by the releases, I am sure... I mean: This is the best band in the world, isn’t it?! ;)

As previously reported, EDGUY's upcoming EP, »Superheroes« will feature a special guest appearance by former HELLOWEEN frontman Michael Kiske. The »Superheroes« DVD - also due on September 5 - will contain the brand new video clip, 'Superheroes', a couple of songs filmed live in Brazil, plenty of "behind-the-scenes" footage, a slide show, an extensive studio report with interviews and a chance to follow EDGUY backstage.

***** URKRAFT Check In With Another Studio Update*****

Back with some updates on our stay at The Antfarm Studio.

Last week went really smoothly. We managed to put down all rhythm guitar, bass and keyboard without any problems. The sound is already at this unmixed state incredible and it is amazing to get to know the new material 100%. Especially the keyboard, which actually pulled out some teeth in the process, has turned out really good. The role it will be playing in the finished result is far more noticeable compared to our debut. This Tuesday we were accompanied by Kral from the melodic prog. metalers Mercenary and he managed to lay down chorus vocals on 2 tracks in a few hours. The whole session ended up with all of us hanging outside the studio, having a well deserved party all night, going on till the ability to speak and communicate left us.

Since then we have been concentrating on recording some pre-takes for vocals and Birk has placed himself in front of the computer with a collection of 5 ESP guitars, throwing out some of the fastest and most interesting leads we have ever had in Urkraft.

We will continue to work hard and with the main goal to be finished Sunday in order to start mixing the whole thing early Monday morning.

We will upload a series of new pictures to our ; temporary website and maybe even some more video clips this weekend.

As you can probably understand we are all pretty exited about this coming new Urkraft release - "The Inhuman Aberration" - and we will soon make the release date official. So keep checking back in here or at www.earache.com to be updated.

Metal, Rock´n Roll & cheers!!!!
Cheers,
Urkraft

*****God Forbid - New album***** ;

On September 19th 2005 Century Media Records Europe will release God Forbid's “IV: Constitution of Treason”, their fourth full-length release. Produced by Jason Suecof (Trivium etc.) and Eric Rachel (Atreyu, Dillinger Escape Plan etc.), the album - a socially and politically charged vision of a post-apocalyptic world - further displays the incredible creativity and talent of one of the most highly respected bands in metal today.

Lead guitarist Doc Coyle comments on this highly anticipated album: "I'm extremely excited for our fans, new and old, to get a listen of this album. It's a big step for God Forbid and I feel that we have made our most diverse, deep and emotional record with out sacrificing heaviness or artistic identity. In a current musical environment, where there seem to a lot of boring, safe records, I feel confident that we've continued to take chances while challenging ourselves to be a better band. With all of that said, we made the record we wanted to make, and we couldn't be happier with the results."

Travis Smith (Opeth, Nevermore etc.), who also illustrated God Forbid's previous album Gone Forever, created the cover art. Says Doc, "Once again Travis has hit it out of the ball park. The artwork for Constitution... metaphorically displays what this album and it's content is really about. It perfectly captures the lyrical darkness and the apocalyptic nature of the album's concept."

The album's first pressing will be a limited edition dual-disc featuring, in addition to the album itself, “The Act of Treason”; an exclusive, making-of-the-album, behind-the-scenes documentary featuring band interviews and tons of in-studio footage that takes you from rehearsals to pre-production all the way to the mastering of “IV: Constitution of Treason”.

In August director Eric Shamlin will oversee the album's first video and single "Chains of Humanity". Expect the unexpected…

Tracklisting GOD FORBID – “IV: Constitution of Treason“:

*****THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER guitarist arrested for indecent exposure!
On July 23rd at Ozzfest in Pittsburgh, PA The Black Dahlia Murder guitarist Brian Eschbach was arrested for indecent exposure while filming footage for FUSE TV’s Uranium. Brian was given Uranium host Juliya’s camcorder and was walking around the second stage area interviewing random bands and fans when someone pulled his towel off, which happened to be the only thing he was wearing. The police immediately seized Brian and escorted him away to a holding cell on site where he was detained for about 30minutes before being let go with a citation. Luckily FUSE’s Uranium was onsite and caught everything on camera which will be aired not only on Uranium and Metal Asylum but also on a FUSE special on Ozzfest. MTV News was also at Ozzfest and you can catch both The Black Dahlia Murder and As I Lay Dying in their coverage of the festival ten to the hour every hour or watch it on MTV Overdrive right now by going to style='color:purple'>MTVNews.com, and at the bottom of the page click overdrive.

Here’s what Brian had to say about his brush with the law in Pittsburgh, “I’d like to start off by saying that it feels good to be free. Of coarse its weird saying that when this incident just draws so much light on how much injustice there is in America and how much general lack of freedom we really have. But it feels good to be back on tour rocking with my band mates… and word up to all my boys in cell A and I hope to see you all again soon.”

In other news The Black Dahlia Murder have been making huge waves with their latest release Miasma which entered the top 200 Billboard charts for their first week of sales at 119 selling just under 10,000 copies. They also landed the number 1 position in the Billboard Heat Seekers chart, the number 5 position on the Billboard Independent chart, and the number 14 position on the Billboard Top Hard Music chart. Fans and critics alike have been hailing Miasma as one of 2005’s best metal albums.

CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS unveil the details of GOD FORBID's IV: Constitution of Treason album On September 19th , 2005 Century Media Records will release God Forbid's IV: Constitution of Treason, their fourth full-length release. Produced by Jason Suecof (Trivium) and Eric Rachel (Atreyu, Dillinger Escape Plan), the album -- a socially and politically charged vision of a post-apocalyptic world -- further displays the incredible creativity and talent of one of the most highly respected bands in metal today.

TRACK LISTING:
01. The End of the World
02. Chains of Humanity
03. Into the Wasteland
04. The Lonely Dead
05. Divinity
06. Under This Flag
07. To the Fallen Hero
08. Welcome to the Apocalypse (Preamble)
09. Constitution of Treason
10. Crucify Your Beliefs

THE ALBUM ARTWORK:
Travis Smith (Opeth, Nevermore), who also illustrated God Forbid's previous album Gone Forever, created the cover art. Says Doc, "Once again Travis has hit it out of the ball park. The artwork for Constitution... metaphorically displays what this album and it's content is really about. It perfectly captures the lyrical darkness and the apocalyptic nature of the album's concept."

THE MAKING OF THE ALBUM:
The album's first pressing will be a limited edition dual-disc featuring, in addition to the album itself, The Act of Treason; an exclusive, making-of-the-album, behind-the-scenes documentary featuring band interviews and tons of in-studio footage that takes you from rehearsals to pre-production all the way to the mastering of IV: Constitution of Treason. Guitarist and vocalist Dallas Coyle says, "The whole process of recording this record was a very interesting one, partly due to the fact that we're not very normal people! Prepare for Jason Suecof because some of his antics are definitely off the wall! He really helped the record come together while keeping the process interesting, even though sometimes I want to choke the shit out of him! This film documents our efforts in bringing the album to life is about as to-the-core and in-depth as it gets."

THE FIRST VIDEO:
Director Eric Shamlin will oversee the album's first video and single in August ("Chains of Humanity"). Expect the unexpected as this will not be your average band-performing-in-a-warehouse metal video. Says Dallas, "The new video will be shot in San Fransisco with Eric. He's mainly done commercials and short films so we're very excited in getting an outside-of-the-metal-scene point of view on our band. Let's just say that the video is very ambitious and will be something extremely different than what God Forbid has done video-wise to this point."

*****MANNTIS - Sign Worldwide Deal With Century Media Records!

The explosive Southern California quintet MANNTIS have officially signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. The group’s debut album, “Sleep In Your Grave”, is set for a October 17th, 2005 release in Europe. The album was produced by Cameron Webb (Danzig, Motörhead, Social Distortion) and features blistering tracks of unrelenting metal intensity. MANNTIS have been influenced by a wide range of bands and styles from Meshuggah and Pantera to Hatebreed, and their pummeling sound reflects the combination of these influences.

MANNTIS originally formed in 2000 and immediately began playing anywhere and everywhere possible. Their stunning stage presence & performance was unquestionable and the buzz spread quickly throughout the underground scene, but their big break came in 2004 when they gained worldwide recognition from their participation on the hit MTV show “Battle For Ozzfest” and recently embarked on the “Battle For Ozzfest Tour” in the US with the show’s other two finalists – A Dozen Furies and CYN. MANNTIS are now out to prove that they can easily go head to head with the genre’s elite.

Jake Sirokman (vocals) further conveys his excitement over the recent signing: “We're extremely happy to be with Century Media Records. We love the other bands on the roster and are proud to be alongside them for years to come. One thing is for sure: some people may have heard about us because of the 'Battle for Ozzfest' show, but we're a dedicated band with over five years in the scene, not just some reality show poseurs looking to extend our 15 minutes of fame. No doubt that ‘Battle for Ozzfest’ was a great opportunity, but we're grateful that CM saw through smoke and mirrors of TV and saw us for the band we are. Bottom line, we're here to bring the fuc*ing metal. See ya on the road."

A European tour is being planned for November 2005.

*****EXODUS - confirm Rick Hunolt’s departure*****

As blabbermouth.net exclusively reported on June 13, long-running San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS have now officially confirmed the departure of guitarist Rick Hunolt.

Guitarist Gary Holt's statement on the matter - as posted on the group's official forum - reads as follows:

"First, let me apologize for my absence here at the board. But one must forgive me for having to make an album, spend the summer with my kids, packing up all my shit and moving, and not wanting to jump into answering questions that I know I'll be asked a thousand times over in the coming months. Simply put, I needed space.

First, on the subject of deleting Rick's posts, I have taken down one, and only one , post of his. This was told to him in a phone conversation, due to the fact that we did not want the label to hear it first on Blabbermouth. They deserve to hear it from us. I told Rick I had saved it and would re-post it when I was ready to make a statement. When his departure had become public knowledge I had messaged our [moderator] and told him to allow any talk about it. It was out in the open so let it ride. It seems Rick thinks I am still deleting his posts but in fact I have not been on the board for weeks. So maybe some kind of signals have gotten crossed, but Rick is always welcome to post here. So here is Rick's post for you:

Rick Hunolt's statement regarding his departure from EXODUS:

"22 years… Wow, that's longer than a lot of you have been alive.

"I'm sitting here writing this post and the last 22 years are racing through my head like you wouldn't believe. From the drive to Gary's house the first time I ever played with EXODUS in Gary's moms garage, my very first gig at Wolfgang's with LOUDNESS, all the gigs at Ruthies, The Mab, The Stone, The Kabuki, etc., etc., etc., they just go on and on and on. I feel so fortunate to be a part of something that started out as some guys playing their guitars as fast as we could, to say, playing in front of 80,000 people at Dynamo and touring all over the world doing what we loved to do.

"Words cant describe the emotions I am feeling right now. One minute I am laughing the next I am sobing like a little baby. This is by far the most difficult decision I have ever had to make, bar none. But I look over to my right and see my two little boys - Odin, 3, and John, 16 months - sleeping and I know it is the right one. I just can't see myself being away from them anymore, I just can't. EXODUS deserves 110 percent from me and I just can't give them that anymore. My boys need me.

"Like I said, this is the hardest decision I have ever had to make, and it is breaking my heart. I am crying so hard right now I can barely see what I am typing.

"I don't know in words how to show my appreciation to every one that has supported me in the last 22 years. God, if I had to list them, it would reach from S.F. to N.Y.

"To all of the people that have helped us over the past two decades (you know who you are), we seriously couldn't have survived without you. And to the fans that I have cherished with all of my heart, thank you for 22 years of incredible memories, and as I always said, you were EXODUS - we were just five guys playing the music that we loved. And to the band, you were my heart and soul for a long time we had some great times and played some great shows. I know you will find a shredder to replace me and I wish him the best of luck.

"And finally, I would like to say to my brother, Gary Holt — my partner in crime, my best friend who I love and respect with all of my heart — you've put up with my sometimes flakey ways and everything else, you have always been there for me Gary, and you deserve more than I can give right now. We have jumped every hurdle that they could throw at us and we still kept going. We were the H Team and no one can take that away from us. We made our mark in history, [and] that I am very proud of. The new material is killer and I hope the new album does well, but it is time to hang up my axe for now my boys need me."

"Much love and respect, Rick Hunolt"

End of Rick Hunolt's statement

Gary Holt's message continues:

"I have nothing but the utmost love for Rick Hunolt and fully understand why he left. His boys need him. He could not give the band what we needed out of him, time- and commitment-wise, and he knew it. Meanwhile, I still have a job to do. And while Rick will be missed by all of us, this album is an achievment in heaviness. My own silence on the subject was due to the fact that I had decided to let the music do the talking. Everyone pays lip service to how heavy their next record is, and they rarely live up to the hype. All I can say is listen and you will believe. I have played this record for some very devastated fans and they left 100 percent convinced. It is a motherfu*ker like no other. And we will be making our official announcement about our new guitarist soon.

"So,I am off to finish packing and moving but I promise that I will return shortly to answer your questions and sh*t, just like I always have. Unless that is you've forgotten which band member (and I include all of them) was the one who was always here in the first place.

"Hope to see you all on our upcoming tours."

As previously reported, EXODUS have set »Shovel Headed Kill Machine« as the title of their upcoming album, due on October 4. Recorded at Trident studios in Pacheco, California and mixed by Andy Sneap (MACHINE HEAD, ARCH ENEMY), the follow-up to 2004's »Tempo of the Damned« is the band's first to feature Ex-SLAYER drummer Paul Bostaph and new singer Rob Dukes.

*****KATAKLYSM - update from Maurizio*****

KATAKLYSM vocalist Maurizio Iacono has issued the following update:

"The artwork contest for the upcoming KATAKLYSM album is now over. We would like to thank everyone from our fans to artists from the four corners of the world that have sent in their visions. The response was great! Now we've got to go through all of them, there's shitloads to look at and make a decision with our record label Nuclear Blast, so bear with us. We'll let you know who the winner is soon.

Just flew back to Chicago this morning from Montreal. I finished all my vocal tracks for the new album and I must say this was the most difficult album I've had to record. Some of these songs have crazy tempos and I had to step it up a notch, but I'm very happy with the end result. According to guitarist/producer J-F Dagenais, the album should be finished in a few weeks."

As previously reported, the drum tracks for KATAKLYSM's upcoming album, »In The Arms Of Devastation«, were recorded at Studio Victor, with the highly anticipated return of oginal drummer Max Duhamel. The rest of the album is being recorded at guitarist J-F Dagenais's JFD studios over the remainder of the summer.

*****HAMMERFALL - update from Oscar*****

HAMMERFALL guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"There has been a venue change on the upcoming U.S. tour [with EDGUY]: the gig on August 20th in Covington, KY, has been moved to Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH. Same date and time applies, but the city and venue has been changed. Hope this doesn’t affect your concert going in a negative way! If you live in the U.S. and like melodic heavy metal, be sure to not miss this tour. You are in for a night you’ll never forget, I guaran-damn-tee you that!

"The STRATOVARIUS [European] tour in the fall may or may not be with a support act. We will have a meeting in Wacken the coming weekend to see what the people in the bands want to do. Hopefully, we’ll have more info on this next week. I know many bands are interested in the slot, but for us — and definitely for the crew — things would be much easier without another band. Also, this way, both HF and STRATO can play a little longer each night, which should be better for the fans. Or am I wrong?

"The curse of the MetalTown festival continues; it was, with a word, wet. Last year, it was without a doubt the worst day of the entire summer, with around 7°C and constant raining. Last Saturday, the weather gods decided to have another go at ruining the festival by opening up the heavens once again. With the exception of an hour in the middle of the day, it was absolutely pouring down the entire festival. But did that stop the heavy metal movement? Certainly not! I would estimate between 7000 and 10000 people made the trip to Frihamnen in Göteborg, to witness RAMMSTEIN, HAMMERFALL, DARK TRANQUILLITY and others, and to defy the meteorological deities and prove that, in the words of Mikael Stanne (DT): 'There is no such thing as bad weather, only slow, fuc*ing music!'"

HAMMERFALL's latest album, »Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken«, was released in March. The follow-up to 2002's »Crimson Thunder« was produced and mixed by Charlie Bauernfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HELLOWEEN).

*****RAGE - “experiment” with new ideas - kind of…*****

The following studio update has been posted at the official RAGE website:

“At the moment Peavy Wagner (vocals/bass), Victor Smolski (guitars), Mike Terrana (drums) and very special guest Chuckles are in the VPSÜJXL Wellness Studios in dead forest of Hamm, to make preparations for a powerful studio recording. During first test recordings the musicians even changed their instruments.

Rage are working with newest and most modern technology. Never before heard samples of African nature sounds have been purchased. For really unusual solos Peavy has gotten an XXXL violin out of a custom shop. Regarding lyrics, Rage picked up totally new sources and tested out never used subjects areas.

To get the heaviest possible sound, the band spared no expense and flew in two professional Japanese Geishas. Peavy and Victor (also) prescribed Mike a new fitness programme, developed by well-known scientists. After a minimum of training a considerable increase of finger, leg and neck muscles was obvious.

And, in preparation for the fight with more than 60 members of the orchestra for the studio recordings, Victor took part in special fight training in Alaska.”

*****BLIND GUARDIAN - the plan for 2005 and 2006…*****

BLIND GUARDIAN singer Hansi Kürsch has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"Here is a short update about what is going on at the moment: Our new drummer Frederik Ehmke did some kick-ass drum arrangements for the new songs, and now Oliver Holzwarth has started working on the bass arrangements. At the same time André, Marcus and I are fixing final arrangement issues, but basically we have finished the biggest part of composing. We are going to start the production for the new album somewhere during the last days of August. As you can imagine everyone is highly motivated, excited and of course ready to go."

BLIND GUARDIAN's "very rough" schedule for the next months:

Late August - End of November:
*Recording [and] mixing of the first single
*Video shoot

December 2005/January 2006:
*Mixing

February/March 2006:
*Promotion
* Release of the first single

April/May 2006:
*Release of the album and warm-up shows

June – August 2006:
*Warm-up shows
*South America
*Japan
*Release of the second single

September – October 2006:
*Europe

November 2006:
*Japan
*Australia

December 2006 – February 2007:
*USA, Mexico and Canada

BLIND GUARDIAN recently replaced drummer Thomen Stauch, who left the band in April after 20 years. The new man behind the kit is fellow German Frederik Ehmke, who is said to be "fairly unknown in the world of metal." He has been playing with medieval rockers SCHATTENTANTZ before.

The production of BLIND GUARDIAN's debut album for Nuclear Blast Records will happen with the help of producer Charlie Bauerfeind. No album title has been set as of yet, but it looks like the CD will contain a total of ten songs. Working titles include 'Carry The Blessed Home', 'The Edge', 'In Search For The Lionheart', 'Market Square', 'Another Stranger Me', and 'Otherland'.

The proposed European tour featuring reformed Swedish doom metal legends CANDLEMASS alongside CATHEDRAL and GRAND MAGUS has been officially called off. *****CALLENISH CIRCLE - new album ready!*****

Holland’s most deadly Death/Thrash formation Callenish Circle recently finished the recordings of their new (and meanwhile 5th) album.

The new album is titled [ Pitch.Black.Effects ] and it was recorded at aRe U Recordings in Holland under supervision of producer Gail Liebling.

The final mix was done at the well-known Antfarm Studio in Denmark with Tue Madsen (a.o. The Haunted, Illdisposed & Mnemic).

Mastering duties were handled again by Peter Neuber at Mega Wimp Sound in Germany.

Last but not least the complete artwork was created by Danish art talent Mircea Gabriel Eftemie at Cadaverman Media.

Official statement from guitar player Ron on the new album:

‘This time we decided to record, mix and master the album on different locations. We recorded the album over here in Holland with our long-time (live) sound-engineer Gail Liebling and the final mix was done in Denmark with Tue Madsen at his Antfarm Studio. Last but not least the mastering was done by Peter Neuber at Mega Wimp Sound and this turned out to be a perfect combination. The sound is absolutely killer ! Gail, who is also responsible for all digital / wacky sounds on ‘My Passion // Your Pain’, was also involved in the writing process now. Result is that the amount of digital sounds increased, also being more integrated in the music, which turned out great. I think we made a big step forward regarding production and song writing and we’re very anxious to hear what the fans and press think of it.

What we think… groovy as hell, catchy as Justin Timberlake and heavy as fu*k !

You’ll be surprised, that’s for sure !

Track list

  1. This Day You Regret

The album will also be available in a luxury limited edition digi-pack CD / DVD set with different artwork.

· professionally recorded live show (8 songs – 40 minutes) at the 013 venue in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

*****Metal Blade general news*****

PATHS OF POSSESSION mp3 up!
Paths of Possession featuring George "Corpsegrinder" of Cannibal Corpse have an mp3 up for the song Bleed The Meek off of their new album Promises In Blood. The one thing listeners should not expect to hear in Promises in Blood is Cannibal Corpse Part 2 as Paths of Possession is an entirely different beast right down to the vocals. Paths of Possession showcases George "Corpsegrinder" in a more melodic environment, with song structures that have much more in common early Bay Area Thrash then the Tampa Death Metal scene that he continually defines. Watch for Paths of Possession on tour around the U.S. throughout 2005/2006 in support of their release Promises in Blood which hits stores October 4th, 2005.

*****R.I.P. Piggy - Metal Blade tribute*****

This morning we got to learn the devastating news that VOIVOD guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour passed away Friday night.

Another tragic loss for the World of Metal. We at Metal Blade send our condolences to his family, friends and band mates Away, Snake and Jasonic.

Piggy's work with and for VOIVOD is beyond what words can express. He found his own style of shredding the guitar and inspired thousands of others with his spacey sound. Albums like ‘Killing Technology’, ‘Dimension Hatröss’, ‘Nothingface’ or ‘Negatron’ will forever be some of my favourite metal albums.

I am glad I had the chance to hang out with Piggy and the Voivod gang for a night in the late nineties. Piggy was just a nice person and very funny in character. He will be missed!

*****Metal Blade signs CELLADOR*****

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of CELLADOR!

CELLADOR is a melodic speed/power metal band from Omaha, NE. Originally formed in Summer 2004 by guitarist Chris Petersen, CELLADOR was founded with the purpose of introducing aggressive European influenced melodic speed/power metal to the Midwest USA, where the style is completely nonexistent and virtually unknown. CELLADOR spent the fall and winter months of 2004 writing and rehearsing, and began playing live by March 2005. In May, CELLADOR came out with the demo, Leaving All Behind, which The Black Dahlia Murder guys passed on to Brain Slagel, after the band opened for them in Omaha. Impressed by their skill and musicianship, Brian Slagel offered the band a contract making them one of Metal Blade Records latest singings.

"I am truly excited about our latest signing, CELLADOR. They are a young band with incredible musicianship and songs. We have been looking just for this type of band who mix the old school metal with a fresh attitude." Brian Slagel Owner/CEO Metal Blade Records Inc.

"We are very proud and excited to be welcomed to the METAL BLADE family. With its current roster and unprecedented history of dedication and integrity, it is with great honor and gratitude that we have been chosen and given the opportunity to represent true American melodic speed metal on one of the biggest labels in the world of metal. Their past success and dedication is only a greater source of inspiration now for us to press forth with pushing true metal to its extreme. Look out for us!!" Chris Petersen- Guitarist CELLADOR

Cellador is currently writing and rehearsing, and plan on recording this December with their debut Metal Blade release to be out sometime in the spring of 2006. To check out some of the bands triumphant songs head over to their MySpace page HERE.

In other news CELLADOR is currently auditioning for the position of lead guitar and keyboard player. The individual must excel in playing both lead and rhythm at slow to often very energetic speeds, and must also have and maintain a committed, motivated, and cooperative personality that benefits the band as a whole. The band would prefer a young and energetic individual between the ages of 18-24 who is able and willing to travel, and with a large background in metal. If interested, send an email with your name and past band experience to contact@cellador.com for more information.

Canuck extremists KATAKLYSM have issued the following tribute to VOIVOD guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour who passed away on Friday, August 26th:

"It's with great sadness that we have learned today that Denis a..k.a. "Piggy" has passed away, the impact of his guitar influence was felt worldwide , his work in VOIVOD opened the doors to many metal bands in Canada and gave all of us hope for better things in this scene. He was the nicest guy you could meet and the must humble person you could talk too. We are sad to see you go brother but you legacy will live forever we will see you on the otherside. Our best wishes go out to all in the D'amour family and to all in our Canadian metal godfathers VOIVOD.

*****THERION - Christofer Johnsson on us tour *****

THERION mainman Christofer Johnsson has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"So, after 18 years of playing with THERION, I'm finally making it to you guys in USA and Canada. It's been some extremely stressy days preparing everything before this trip, but now there's just one more day before we fly.

"This tour is very important for the future of THERION's touring in these countries. If this tour do well, we will of course make USA and Canada permanenet territories on the future THERION world tours. That would be a really great thing really, so I hope to see you guys in enough numbers that we will see each other every time we have a new album and not wait another 18 years again! ;)

"No matter what, we will have great fun going there and we're gonna rock your asses off even at the smaller venues! So start practising drinking beer already at this point (to be well prepared) and see you all very soon!!!

"It's gonna be very cool ending it all with some shows in Mexico as well. We never played a festival there before, that's gonna be really cool! My brother also just moved to Mexico (I'm not joking), so it will be fun meeting him there as well."

A complete list of THERION's upcoming tour dates can be found at this location.

It's great fun and I am really looking forward to playing the final six shows before we return home to continue working on the album. HAMMERFALL are great guys to hang out with and the fans seem to really enjoy the package. Meanwhile I hope all of you are all gonna enjoy our new CD and DVD. Take care and read more news soon."

*****DEATHSTARS - part ways with guitarist*****

Sweden's DEATHSTARS have parted ways with guitarist Erik "Beast X Electric" Halvorsen.

The group's official statement on the matter reads as follows:
" Due to lack of enthusiasm and living too far away from the band's location in Stockholm, Sweden, Beast X Electric's no longer a part of DEATHSTARS.

"It has for a longer time been a problem for the band with the huge distance from Beast X Electric's hometown on the Swedish West Coast to Stockholm, and the problem with getting everything to function timewise has taken too much energy for Beast X as well as for the rest of the band.

"DEATHSTARS is now reduced to only four members. Nightmare plays both guitars on the upcoming album, titled »Termination Bliss«. The band and Beast X are still the best of friends and the former guitarist will always be a huge part of DEATHSTARS' spirit.

"On the upcoming tours, DEATHSTARS probably will use a session guitarist. Information on who that’ll be will be presented when that decision is made.

"Beast X would like to thank all fans for a 'motherfu*kin' great time' and says that he in the nearest future will try to extend his collection of Harley Davidson motorcycles."

Commented Beast X Electric: "DEATHSTARS will always be huge part of my life and the times with the band have resulted in more memories than an average person collects in a lifetime. "

DEATHSTARS' debut album, »Synthetic Generation«, was released in November 2003.
