RATDADDY (Ian Hardwick)

Ian Hardwick of UK band Rat Daddy, bringing power pop to you! (Thanks to Alyson for flagging this band up)
1. What are you currently up to?

Well we've just seen the video to `So Into You' and spat out our cornflakes. Currently mopping them up.

2. Who were your influences?

Anything with great melody. Probably the Bruce Willis albums are the main thing.

3. Brief history of your work today and your style of music?

All our work so far has been some of the best music ever released. We recorded a 4 track ep `We Should Be Going Crazy' and an album on ChangesOne called `Dirty Stars' with a cool band called Loose Thread. We play `Power Pop Rock n Roll' or `Cock Rock With a Hint Of Muff'.

4. What has been the highpoint and lowpoint of your career to date?

The highlight was being invited to a celebrity pool party. The low point was it was Barrymore's.

5. What has been the live highlight for the band? how easy/hard is it to get gigs and promotion for the gigs?

The best show was when we supported Rachel Stamp in Portsmouth. We were yet to release the album, but the reaction was amazing. I think that gig really knocked us on course and we signed breasts that night. The biggest support gig we've had was with The Wildhearts which was great also. It's a constant slog to get good gigs and promotion but we are a very `hands on' band and like to stay in control of what we are doing. We are more than happy to work very hard and that gets us results.

6. If you could create a fantasy band what would be the line up and why?

Kim Wilde - Vocals Susanna Hoffs (Bangles) - vocals / guitar Barbra Streisand - Bass The Man Corr - Drums
This would be for a private show in our office. We don't know why the man Corr is there.

7.

Live highlights...we used to play gigs in a shed in the middle of nowhere where we live. The shows were just full of the weirdest people you could meet big fat Australians hippies and Irish smack heads - eye opening. I think the difficulty of getting shows all depends on how good your band is live - in Cardiff shows are promoted well - spesh the posters.

8. What state do you think rock music and live gigs are in at the moment?

As long as Hendrix keeps touring everything will be alright.

9. What cds do you currntly have availible and where can they be purchased from?

We Should Be Going Crazy - 4 Track E.P Dirty Stars - Split Album (ChangesOne Records) We've also been featured on a forthcoming Zodiac Mindwarp tribute album and a couple of ChangesOne EPs. You can buy the CDs at gigs, or at www.changesone.co.uk and www.ratdaddy.co.uk They should have been in the shops but there was a cock up with distribution, it should be sorted real soon and then we'll put some new stuff out.

10. Message to your fans?

We'll be following in the footsteps of the beat combo Rock Bitch by handing out raffle tickets at Rat:Daddy shows. Whoever wins gets the chance to go backstage with a member of the band and fornicate. This is an exclusive offer for the forthcoming tour and is in no way a ploy to get us laid.

11. Message to your fans...

They dont love you like we love you.

12. What CD's do you currently have available and where can they be purchased from?
