B J LANEBY (MILLION)

Million - currently with a new album out 'Detonator', which received a glowing review in the UK's 'Powerplay' magazine. A band to watch and one to go and see when they play near you...

1. What are you currently up to? (e.g. touring/studio,etc.)

We´re preparing to go on tour in support of our new album Detonator, which is getting rave reviews. Looks like we will return to the UK in November! Then we hope to do Germany and other European dates. A video is shot by Harrison Funk (Van Halen/Michael Jackson etc) on the last UK tour and on the Sweden Rock Festival (what a gig!) will be ready for TV soon.

Our older albums are also being re released so everyone can get the chance to experience some classic hardrock with attitude!

2. Who was/is your biggest influence on your career?

I´d say KISS, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath.

3.Brief history of the band plus the style of music you play.

Style: It´s hard rock standing on the fundaments of the 70`s and 80`s but with the attitude of 2002. No matter how hard and rough we sometimes play, we always have melodies and catchy hooks. So it´s the best of both worlds really. We´re a band that see both Black Sabbath fans and melodic rock fans in the audience.

I formed MILLION in 89, the first line up did 3 records together (new keyboardplayer&drummer for the 3:rd). Those albums were: No.1 (1992), We Ourselves & Us (1994) and Electric (1998). The new singer and guitarist joined us in 1999. Since then we have released a best of compilation called Get Millionized, sumaring up the past also including some rare and new stuff. And now the new one is being released over the world, DETONATOR. Mixed by Simon Hanhart (Malmsteen/Bowie/Asia/Adrian Smith from Maiden a.o). Get Millionized & Detonator are the first albums for british label A2 Records. All our records have received great reviews and the reactions on Detonator have so far been truely fantastic. I´m very proud of the new line up! Tour wise we´ve mostly done Scandinavian gigs in the past , toured by ourselves but also with bands like Magnum & Nazareth. We´ve also been to Holland -hey, hey hey Amsterdam!!!;-)

This year we´ve so far toured England for 2 weeks in February, seven shows with Oliver/Dawson Saxon (great guys!) and 3 headlining spots. We loved England and went down very well-we´ll be back soon! Recently we headlined one stage at the major Sweden Rock Festival- great gig, huge audience and we received fantastic response! A video was recorded at that Festival but also on the UK tour. It´s shot by Harrison Funk (Van Halen/Michael Jackson etc) and will be ready for TV in the months to come.

4. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpoint(s) of your career to date?

Highlights: Sweden Rock Festival, UK tour, top 30 in Japan, touring with Magnum and O/D Saxon, fantastic reviews & all the fan response worldwide

Lowpoints: Been through 2 record company bankruptcies which is VERY hard to survive- but hey we did! That´s one of the reasons the old albums are being re-released by our label A2.

5. How easy is it to gets gigs?

It´s not easy, but the interest for MILLION and our reputation is surely growing, many people are opening their eyes right now... We are a L I V E band - action/pyro/singalong/party heavy rock and I think we can handle our instruments and have a great singer.

6. What is the live music scene like?

It´s tough, but as I said - If you want a quality act with songs, we´re ready to play everywhere!

7. What music have you listened to recently?

The new one´s from UFO, Bon Jovi, Ted Nugent, Springsteen, Dave Meniketti, Bowie, Crown of Thorns...

8. Any bands/artists out there who you think deserve success (along with yourselves)?

Harem Scarem defenitely should be bigger, Cornerstone is great stuff, Oliver/Dawsons version of SAXON is defenately closer to the original SAXON vibe -hats off to them! (yes, we had lot´s of fun together...;-)

9. What CD's do you currently have available and where can they be purchased from?

"THE FIRST TWO MILLION" - Double CD with...yes the first 2

"DETONATOR" - New album, new line up,"GET MILLIONIZED" -Compilation from the first 3 + liveversions (including KISS Deuce)+rare stuff...

The 3rd album, Electric,is hard to find right now.

Available from our label: www.a2records.com , Distribution for UK is Pinnacle, we'll get new distribution for Germany and rest of Europe soon!

10. If you could put together a fantasy band line-up - who would be in it and why?

Paul Stanley & Ian Gillan & Dio on vocals, because they rule Phil Lynott on bass, because he´s the king (R.I.P) Ritchie Blackmore, guitar (don´t f**k with the man in black) Toni Iommi, guitar (king of heavy riffs) Jon Lord ,keyboards (Hammond Lord!) Cozy Powell, drums (This band needs a hard hitter) R.I.P
