30 ODD FOOT OF GRUNTS (featuring Russell Crowe) ‘
Other Ways Of Speaking’
(2004)

As many will know, as has been proven on too many occasions, acting and music quality or success don’t always go hand in hand. Either way round, it should often be avoided and never taken for granted.

The music here, for the first three tracks certainly, is lame and weak, with only Chrissie Hynde’s vocals on a duet standing out, but let’s face it that girl oozes class most can only dream of.

While ‘What’s Her Name’ picks things up a little with the guitar riff and harmonica adding a good touch, it’s still half hearted.

The vocals are soft, deep and gentle, with a nod towards the Crash Test Dummies (but not that low), but this is not a strong release in any way.

In fact with Crowe’s image and involvement you’d expect something a little heavier, or at least with a pair of bollocks. Come back Manowar all is forgiven.
