RANDY BACHMAN 'Survivor' Lemon CDLEM65 (2005)

Former BTO man Bachman released this album in 1978, his penultimate solo set, and opted for the country rock sound (think uptempo Eagles), with a nod back at BTO and vocal harmonies that lean towards the Beach Boys, especially on opened “Just A Kid”.

There’s plenty of uptempo rock’n’roll piano and guitar on “One Hand Clappin’”, while other tracks have a more acoustic feel.

Toto drummer Jeff Pocaro makes an appearance, on this highly enjoyable album. Nothing too enthralling or heavy, but for fans of gentler 70s rock will love it. Well annotated and packaged too.

*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
