INXS
Shepherds Bush Empire, London 7 November 2006

This was INXS' third sold out night at the Shepherds Bush Empire, and this show confirms the fact that the band are no 'nostalgia act' trading on their past hits.

Opening the show with a brilliant and energetic rendition of 'Suicide Blonde' tonight's set list includes 5 songs from the bands recent 'Switch' album - such as the forthcoming single 'Pretty Vegas', fans of Rock Star: INXS will remember this as the song that new vocalist JD Fortune wrote the lyrics to on the show and the track went on to become the bands highest chart entry in the US- entering the Billboard Top 100 singles at #37, 'Devils Party' and the brilliant 'Afterglow' alongside massive world-wide hits such as 'Need You Tonight', 'New Sensation', 'Original Sin' and 'Mystify'.

The big one of the night though was 'Never Tear Us Apart', which must be INXS's biggest and best known song and the audience loved it.

Michael Hutchence had left a big pair of boots to fill but not one person in that room could argue that JD Fortune isn't doing a great job of filling in for the late frontman.

INXS have always had a reputation as one of the best bands to catch live and tonight was no exception, the band looked relaxed and guitarist/saxophonist Kirk Pengilly later told me that they had a great time - this was clear to the audience who had just seen what must be one of the best gigs at the Empire this year.
