FARO Angelost
MTM 0681-152 / SPV SPVCD085-64372 (2006)

Within their realm this could almost be a supergroup: Vocalist Chitral Somapala is ex Avalon, drummer Hulshorst is ex Bonfire and guitarist Kepic and bassist Muller are both Jaded Heart.

This is their second album, and is at the heavy end of melodic metal.

Kicking off with 'Desert Moon', there’s some excellent guitar work, and vocalist sounds like a cross between Joe Lynn Turner and Dougie White.

'World Of Fools' even nods at the blues, certainly at the more trad metal end of things.

The use of piano works well, especially on 'The Forbidden Land'.

With plenty of backing vocals, and producer Markus Teske adding further keyboards, it’s a solid and full sound. Enjoyable throughout.

***½

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
