DEW SCENTED Impact (Nuclear Blast) (2003)
I'm unaware of how well known the name Dew Scented is among the supporters
of the Thrash/Death scene worldwide. What I do know is that, if given the
chance, they will easily increase their loyal fan base with their new
release "Impact".
The 5th studio effort of the German based outfit contains the magic recipe
that many bands of the extreme sound are using lately and that is 80's solid
Thrash riffs (mainly of the likes of Slayer) along with Sweden's biggest
export' Death. Rhythm guitars, power drumming and scull crushing vocals.
This album is a classic example of Slayer meets Morbid Angel kind of metal
allowing at the same time influences from the Swedish Death metal scene
(Dismember, At The Gates etc).
It is really difficult to single out any song from this 11 track album, but
if forced I would say that the opening track "Acts of Rage" along with "Soul
Poison", 'Slaughtervain" and "Down my Neck" would be my favourites.
One thing that will really impress every listener is the solid production
that Andy Classen (Graveworm, Die Apokalyptischen etc) made for this album.
That element along with the "smart music" that Dew Scented presents with
this new release will only make you want to push the play button again right
after the ending of the last song.
A must have for every Thrash/Death metal fan.
