CHOLFO Inquietudes (2006) Cholfo

Spanish guitarist Cholfo, who plays most of the instruments here, has produced a decent album here. Opener 'Crazy World' is a great track, and 'Blue Story' is a tad bluesy. A catchy chorus and a good guitar solo.

'Escapa' mixes a dance rhythm with heavy guitar to decent effect. Not my sort of thing but I can see how it would be enjoyable. Is this Dance Metal?

Some good touches, even the occasional Spanish influence, and violins and flute make an appearance. There's a take on some classical pieces that definitely have a Blackmore and Uli Jon Roth edge to the guitar.

The album has too many directions and needs to be more consistent but overall an enjoyable listen. The guy deserves a chance.

***½
