BLUE TEARS Dancin' On the Back Streets
Sun City Records (2006)

This is the second Blue Tears CD to come from Sun City Records and again it features songs recorded by the band before/during/after their 1990 debut album.

Mainman Greg Fulkerson is a real all rounder and songs like 'Small Town Dreams' just blow Bon Jovi out of the water and then some.

Blue Tears have the vocals and melodies making you wonder why they never achieved even some of the success of say Bon Jovi. You want classic melodic rockers?

Try 'Summer Girl' and then for mellower moments you have the Def Leppard like 'Forever Yours' and 'Dream of the Night'.

Despite being a big lover of all things melodic I haven't heard much before by Blue Tears bar few songs of their debut album. Although these songs have never been released before they are not average tracks discarded by the band like you find on some such releases. It really is a mystery why they never got a full release by the band's label at the time, MCA (mind you that label was nicknamed Musicians Cemetery of America by some of the labels former bands!).

This album is a must for all lovers of that classic Bon Jovi/Def Leppard sound and with tunes this good it never really dates. Blue Tears have also just released an album of all new songs plus they played the UK Firefest last year, so the band are still very much active all these years later.

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
