A DOZEN FURIES A Concept From Fire
Sanctuary/Divine (2006)

Straight off the bat, I was ready for this to be an instant failure briefly flicked through the songs to let myself know what I was in for. But that wouldn't be too fair, for an honest opinion and decent review, you need at least to give an album a proper chance, no matter how bad it might be.

That is not to say A Dozen Furies are bad, they are far from it. After a couple of listens I was ready to sit up and give some thoughtful opinions. A Dozen Furies are a lot like those bands I see on music TV in the UK, the kind of modern metal band, young aggressive, a mix of clean and screaming/shouting/growling vocals. There are certainly plenty of riffs and songs that demand thou head to be banged. Melody? Well yes and no, the clean vocals are melodic in the chorus, the 'other' vocals are borderline, I could live without them, yet they are tolerable!

Of the twelve songs on, 'A Concept Of Fire', all are well played and are solid. Solid, yet ultimately unspectacular. I can't remember much from my experience with A Dozen Furies, nothing stands out and I don't have any of their songs spinning around my head.

One for fans of Trivium, Funeral For A Friend and A Bullet For My Valentine.
