Rock & Blues Show

Tuesday 19:00-21:00 followed by Blues Rock Music Marathon (Friday 20:00, repeat)
Sunday 19:00 The Pete Feenstra Feature

Pete Feenstra has been an established music promoter and writer since the late-1970s.  Most recently he has contributed to Classic Rock Blues magazine and wrote the book accompanying the Family 'Once Upon A Time' boxed set.

He is a professional promoter, starting out at the legendary Mean Fiddler, including Shepherds Bush Empire and, latterly, the Boom Boom Club in Sutton, Surrey which he established in 2001.  The Boom Boom Club and Beaverwood Club (which he also runs) regularly showcase up and coming (and established) blues rock talent.

Pete is also Get Ready to ROCK!'s Features Editor and Blues & Rock Editor and is a great champion of new blues music as well as established artists.  He promoted early UK gigs for Joe Bonamassa and Walter Trout and commands great respect amongst those artists who he has supported (and written about) over many years.

STEVIE SMITH

Stevie Smith has been around in one guise or another since 1965. He started to frequent the folk clubs and pubs of South London and during this time he got to play with Long John Baldry, Jo Anne Kelly and Ray Dorset (Mungo Jerry) to name but a few.

Around 1974 Stevie started hosting the renowned Sunday night jam sessions at the Half Moon in Herne Hill, South London. These sessions featured an amazing array of musical talent from the most popular bands of the era including members of the Jeff Beck Band, Rory Gallagher band, Thin Lizzy, and 7th Wave. 1975 saw the formation of the highly acclaimed SALT, Fronted by Stevie with Mick Clarke (Guitar), Stuart McDonald (Bass) and Tony Fernandez (Drums)

1983 saw Stevie become a rather unlikely addition to Bad Manners with whom he went on to complete three tours of the USA and record one album (Mental Notes) and a single (Blue Summer) with one of his songs (Tie Me Up) used on the album.

Since the eighties he has continued to work with Ruthless Blues, and in Scotland with Andy Gunn, MIR, and Scottish based Geordie, Martin Stephenson and the Daintees.

He is also currently working with the Brothers Grimm and his own more blues based "The Stevie Smith Blues Experience".

GEORGE JONES (Son Of Man)

West coast influenced psychedelic jam band MAN formed in South Wales in 1968 and split in 1976, only to reform again in 1983.

George Jones is the son of MAN founder member and seminal rock guitarist Micky Jones.

He played in his own band's The Channel Hoppers, The Spectaculars and recorded his own solo EP called 'Noodles'. He joined Man in 2002, intitially to fill in for his dad Micky who had a brain tumour and later for Deke Leonard who retired from the band.

He recorded the 2006 'Diamonds & Coal' album and toured as part of a multi generational line-up to mark the band's 40th anniversary tour, before in true Man fashion, the band split in half.

George now leads SON OF MAN and has overseen the band's massive re-issue programme on Esoteric.
