Compiled by John Stefanis

SINNER sign with AFM

AFM is proud to announce our latest new signing; Sinner. The band based around singer and bass player Mat Sinner signed the contract right before headlining the legendary Headbangers Open Air in Hamburg a few weeks ago and are really stoked to be joining us…"It's awesome that we've had such fantastic feedback from the fans and the media after our recent new start, " says Mat. "Now we can continue our history with a long-term deal with AFM. The band is really proud to sign with this company and we can't wait to start on the new album…"

Sinner have just completed a successful European tour in support of their current "Mask Of Sanity" CD. The new studio album, tentatively entitled "Crash & Burn" is due in early 2008. Current Line Up; Mat Sinner (bass & vocals), Henny Wolter (guitar), Klaus Sperling (drums), Christof Leim (guitar).

Ross The Boss comes on board. Hail & Kill!

"On behalf of The ROSS THE BOSS band and myself, I would like to announce our signing with AFM Records worldwide! Needless to say we are all extremely happy and pleased to know that we are joining a great metal family and can't wait to start work on our first CD."

With Manowar, Ross wrote metal history! Founding the band along with Joey DeMaio in the early 80s, he recorded metal milestones such as "Battle Hymns"(1982), "Into Glory Ride" (1983), "Hail To England" (1984) and "Sign Of The Hammer" (1984), before leaving after the recordings of "Kings Of Metal". He later joined the band on stage recently at the legendary "Earthshaker Festival" in 2005.

During 2006 Ross played with Manowar cover's band Men Of War, featuring members of the German band Ivory Night, and it's now this band (under the Ross The Boss name) that will make up the line up for the forthcoming album. The band is in furious songwriting mode right now and the album will be out in 2008. More details to follow.

French / Romanian act Magica have signed a long-term partnership with AFM this month. The band who demonstrate an impressive Neo Classic Heavy Metal style, mixed with Gothic and Progressive elements, have demonstrated a unique understanding of enthralling songwriting and dramatic construction during their career to date, but with their female lead vocalist Ana Mladinovici, they also have one of the key aces in the European pack.

New album "Hereafter" will be released on October 22nd. The cover artwork is by Jean Pascal Fournier (Edguy, Avantasia).

You can watch the first video "All The Waters Have The Colour Of Drowning" from the album now at:

"The Divided Heart" video-clip from new album "The Scythe" now on-line.

With "The Scythe", Italian Fantasy Metallers Elvenking open a very interesting, new chapter in their history, following a darker approach and delivering a perfect mixture of Skyclad pomp, Blind Guardian aggression and In Flames' swagger. Their previous recipe for success continues but a more poetic, powerful storyline (centered on "Death" as the main character) combined with real eye catching cover artwork and a much darker and potent writing style makes their ambitions very clear.…! With contributions by Mike Wead (King Diamond, Candlemass) and a great mix by Nino Laurenne (Sonic Pump Studios, Finland ), this is a record that will stand tall.
Go to for a trailer to the album and the band's Official Channel for additional 'studio moments' from the making of it. "The Scythe" gets its release on September 17th.

Track Listing - "The Scythe";

The Poodles

Undaunted by the sad cancellation of the Thunderground Festival this week, the Poodles are building up to the release of their new album "Sweet Trade" on October 1st. "Sweet Trade" like its predecessor "Metal Will Stand Tall" is produced by Matti Alfonzetti and Johan Lyander. A full news item will follow on this very shortly.

Rob Rock

Powerhouse heavy metal vocalist Rob Rock (Impellitteri, Driver, Joshua) releases his new solo album "Garden of Chaos" on September 21st. "Garden…." was co-produced by Rob's guitarist Carl-Johan Grimmark, Roy Z (Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson, Halford) and Rob Rock himself and Rob wrote seven of the 11 tracks with longtime partner Z, whilst the others were co-written with Gus G. (FIREWIND).

Helstar - Studio Update

We just received the following words from Helstar singer James Rivera:

"As of last month, July 12th in fact, the band completed the basic tracking of the new album, guitar solos and all. The basic tracks were recorded at Bravo Studios in Houston, TX. And trust me -- these simply being the basic tracks -- this album will be heavy and dark! As for the vocals, I am on my metal crusade to the western hemisphere of the US. right now. I will travel to Las Vegas, NV, where I've managed to squeeze in two shows with my Black Sabbath and Judas Priest tribute buddies entitled Sabbath Judas Sabbath. And from there it's on to Bill Metoyer's in Northridge, CA where the screams from Hell will begin!" More as we get it!

President Evil - Studio Update

At the end of this month, President Evil will enter the studio to record their second album. It will be recorded under the eyes of Guido Lucas (Blackmail, Smoke Blow) and Andy Classen (Tankard, Disbelief, Dew-Scented) will be mastering. To check out new stuff due to appear; go to; filmed at the Rock Harz Open Air Festival in July.

KATAKLYSM - To enter studio this week

The band is entering the studio this week with producer and guitarist J-f Dagenais, drummer Max Duhamel will be first laying down the drum work for "PREVAIL" the recording process will last five weeks (hopefully) with vocalist Maurizio Iacono schedualed to record his vocals in Sept.

comments Maurizio:

"The album is done and ready to go, although it was a breeze to write this album as things came so naturally, on the lyrics end, I worked the hardest i have in years making sure everything is where it should be,at times it was real difficult but the end result will speak for itself,

I'm truely convinced this album will take no prisoners, as you know we dont repeat the same record twice, this album stands on a league of its own..and im not saying its our best album, because only the fans have the right to say wether it is or not, all im saying is I listen to the songs and I wanna punch the fu*king wall, that means we are on to something good."

Kataklysm has also hired the services of Producer Jason Suecof ( Chimaira / Trivium / The Black Dahlia Murder) to mix the album in early January 2008, "PREVAIL" will also feature some guest appearances to be announced at a later date.

The highly anticipated album is schedualed for a worldwide release date of MAY 23rd 2008 via Nuclear Blast records
Stay tuned as the band will release a few touring announcements very soon...

NIGHTWISH - Release parties for the upcoming album

The hype about the new Swedish vocalist Anette Olzon is not the only reason why the Finnish Gothic Metal band is so much in demand right now. This fact was more than obvious, when Anette and mastermind Tuomas Holopainen appeared for the signing session at their label Nuclear Blast. More than 1.000 fans travelled to Donzdorf to get an autograph of their idols.

For the release of "Dark Passion Play" on September 28th several release parties will take place throughout Germany.

We're proud to announce the signing of Oregon/California death metal band BRAIN DRILL.

BRAIN DRILL was formed in the summer of 2005 by Dylan Ruskin (guitars), whose next goal was to find a drummer that could actually play death metal and not just claim they could. Dylan ended up recruiting drummer Marco Pitruzzella, former drummer of VITAL REMAINS, VILE, VORNAGAR, ATROCIOUS HYSTERIA, NUMA, and a few other extreme metal bands. After a few months of jamming Steve Rathjen was then later put onto vocals. Rounding out the band is Jeff Hughell on bass who joined the band in the winter of 2006. With mind-blowing style and speed, inventing a 10-fingered tapping technique using a seven-string bass, and the song-learning capabilities of a genius it was quite obvious he was a perfect fit into this now four-piece arsenal.

As of now, BRAIN DRILL has shared the stage with bands such as CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS, NECROPHAGIST, JOB FOR A COWBOY, UNMERCIFUL, ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH, and very many other extreme metal bands. In addition BRAIN DRILL has come in at No. 8 in the Top 10 MySpace grindcore band charts in the world and has also come in at number 11 in the top 20 MySpace death metal charts in the world.

Commented the band: "We are blown away to be able to put out our first album ever on Metal Blade Records, with labelmates like CANNIBAL CORPSE, JOB FOR A COWBOY, HATE ETERNAL and CATTLE DECAPITATION, and a history of working with bands like SLAYER and METALLICA. We are ready to make Brian Slagel and everybody at Metal Blade proud. Witness the brutality!!"

Jen Graham of Metal Blade Records stated, "Alex Webster of CANNIBAL CORPSE came to us and told us we had to check out this band BRAIN DRILL that they had played with at a stop on their most recent tour. As soon as I got to the second song on the EP, I knew this was a band we had to have on our roster. They are amazing, full-on, crazy, fast as hell death metal (think SPAWN OF POSSESSION, CRYPTOPSY and VOMITORY all rolled into one). Welcome to the family, guys!"

Dylan Ruskin - Guitar
Lord Marco Pitruzzella - Drums
Steve Rathjen - Vocals
Jeff Hughell - Bass

The band comments as follows:

"We're excited to announce that we'll embark on the EASTPAK ANTIDOTE tour that will take us through Europe together with the fine metal merchants of Soilwork, Caliban and Sonic Syndicate.
It's a rotating bill, and the playing order is determined by the relative sales figures of the bands in each country (which is the most fair way of doing things). We'll headline in Italy and Spain as far as we know.

Note that for contractual reasons we won't be appearing on the Scandinavian dates of the tour, so the only way for people in Sweden, Denmark and Norway to see us this autumn is to attend our own headline shows in early September.

To avoid any speculation or gossip, we remind you that this is the first European tour that actually is officially confirmed by us, so the claim by certain news sites that we've 'cancelled' other obligations (referring to the previously announced European tour with ICED EARTH) in order to be part of this tour therefore aren't valid."

Fresh from playing a sell-out gig with US thrashers MUNICIPAL WASTE at the the London Underworld on Friday, S.S.S are set to take their underground thrash sound straight to one of the city's largest venues. On October 3rd the Merseyside crossover thrashers will play their largest show to date by supporting KILLSWITCH ENGAGE at London's Brixton Academy. This news comes just as a wave of excitement surrounding the thrash scene in the UK has escalated, following the release of S.S.S's 'Short Sharp Shock' in June, and the hotly anticipated upcoming release 'Enter The Grave' from Huddersfield thrashers Evile on August 27th.
Speaking about the upcoming gig, S.S.S vocalist Foxy states:

"Reason we are doing this gig is when are we ever likely to step onto a massive stage like that ever again? I dont know how many thrash bands would fill a venue that big. But KSE asked for us and we said yer. Colchester is the day before aswell. Eggs, sweaty socks, used undies and pigs heads will delicately flutter down on the crowd. We playing london on 13th oct aswell. Venue TBC.

Rememeber how Send More Paramedics went down when they supported Offspring? They got allsorts lobbed at em. Did em no harm and went down in history for doing it. It will be the crowd that needs a blues brothers chicken net. Not us"

For a taste of what the Brixton Academy can expect, watch 'The Beast' performed live at the Underworld on 10/08/07 here:

Peaceville Records is proud to announce the forthcoming release by one of the metal world's greatest acts.

"The Roundhouse concert will always be a very memorable gig for us for many reasons, but most importantly it caught the band at the peak of the "Ghost Reveries" tour. I must say we're quite tight after 18 odd months on the road supporting the record. I'm extremely pleased we got it documented and I hope it will please our beloved fans as well. As an extra bonus we've decided to collaborate with one of our past labels for this release, the legendary Peaceville Records. Here's a toast to Hammy and Lisa for helping us back in the day as well as to the new team for preserving this pleasurable memory for today's music lovers as well as for generations to come." - Mikael Åkerfeldt

'The Roundhouse Tapes' contains a captivating Opeth performance from the Camden Roundhouse, London, UK, on November 9th, 2006 (a gig which also featured Goth metal legends Paradise Lost), and sees the band in scintillating form churning out a selection of classics from their illustrious career. You know what to expect from Opeth: unrivalled composition; seamless progressive dynamics and boundless atmosphere from the mellow to the incredibly heavy, all sealed with the unmistakable vocal presence of mainman Mikael Åkerfeldt.

Since their formation in 1990 in Sweden, Opeth has risen to the forefront of the metal world over the years; bringing many aspects of progressive rock/metal to a whole new audience by combining soft acoustic ambience with complex, melodic & heavy guitar often familiar to forms of death/black metal, perfectly concocted into a completely peerless sound. A constant factor of their success is that the band have never been afraid to experiment with their song-writing ever since their debut album, 'Orchid', in 1994, all the while taking us through some truly magical & hypnotic soundscapes over the years.

With the release of the hotly anticipated thrash offering 'Enter The Grave' only a week away, Evile guitarist Ol Drake has aired his excitement about the positive reviews that have been circulating recently. The album has received an encouraging 10/10 and a highly positive 100/100 in online reviews:

Metal Mayhem 10/10:
Metal Revolution 100/100:

Such early praise for their debut has prompted Ol to speak about the hard work that the fast rising Huddersfield thrashers have put into achieving such success with their debut:
"The reviews we've got through so far really make us proud of the amount of work we put into making this album what it is. In a way it feels to have 'paid off' if someone enjoys it in the ways the recent reviewers enjoyed it"

Ol admits that the process was not always a harmonious experience and reveals that:

"It shows that hard work really gets results. We put in as much time as we could on each song to get it as perfect as we could in our ears. I think the fact that we argue over writing gets results.
If one person wasn't happy with what we were doing we'd work on it until all 4 of us were happy. I think that gives us a good sound, with all 4 of us putting hard work in. Some bands work better with one master-mind, we don't".

It appears that working with such precision and intensity alongside the legendary producer Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica) has helped to catapult Evile to the front of the new breed of thrash metal. UK and European fans only have 7 days to judge for themselves- 'Enter The Grave' is released by Earache Records on August 27th, (Sept 25th in USA) to pre-order the album click here, all pre-orders will receive an exclusive Evile red 7inch including 2 non album tracks.

3. Walk In The Shadows (3:07) [Queensrÿche Cover Version] * Non-Album Track
4. I Am Legend / Out For Blood (5:36] [Live 2007] * Non-Album Track

As well as the title track you get another brand new song, the albums lead track "Blood On Your Hands", which was recently launched on as an exclusive preview track. This special-priced single, packaged in dramatic artwork courtesy of Niklas Sundin, includes 2 very special non-album bonus songs: A cover version of Queensrÿche's classic "Walk In The Shadows" and "I Am Legend / Out For Blood - Live", recorded earlier in 2007 when the band toured in South America.

ARCH ENEMY mainman Michael Amott comments the cover song's choice as follows:

"We've always had a lot of respect for Queensrÿche, they've written so many amazing songs. 'Walk In The Shadows' is off their 'Rage For Order' album, which is mine and Sharlee's (D'Angelo, Bass) favourite Queensrÿche album. We did the song 'our way' and it sounds quite different to the original, we just hope the Queensrÿche guys are cool with it if they ever hear it!"

"Revolution Begins" is released August 31st in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, September 3rd in Greece and September 5th in Sweden and Finland so watch out!

ARCH ENEMY have recently completed an extensive promotional visit to Japan in support of the soon to be released new album "Rise Of The Tyrant" and will be spending the next few days doing European promotional work, as well as headlining Germany's Up From The Ground Festival on August 24th (more information at As of early September the band embark on lengthy co-headline tour of North America with Machine Head under the banner of "The Black Tyranny Tour". The next touring activity in Europe will begin in November when they join "The Black Crusade Tour" with Machine Head, Trivium, Dragonforce and Shadows Fall.

CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS welcomes ZIMMERS HOLE & WARBRINGER to its worldwide family

ZIMMERS HOLE - The Reign Of Lunacy Is Coming…

Vancouver's ZIMMERS HOLE have signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records and have started the recording of their upcoming third album, which is destined to shatter your sanity in early 2008.

This band are no strangers to the metal community, as the lineup features Byron Stroud (Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad) on bass and Jed Simon (Tenet, Strapping Young Lad) on guitars, along with The Heathen (vocals) and Steve Wheeler (drums).

Byron and Jed further comment: "Now with ZIMMERS HOLE signing a fresh, new deal with Century Media, we have decided to give this band our full and undivided attention. No more 'side-project' status here; the men of the Hole are fired up like a city on fire and we entered Vancouver's famed Armoury Studios to begin tracking the new release.

We currently have 19 songs on the table for the new album and some tentative song titles include, 'The Dark Church of Whatever', 'We Rule The Fu*king Land', 'Flight Of The Knight Bat' and 'Hair Doesn't Grow on Steel'. As you can see, it's all about having a good time with The Hole. Make no mistake though, we are very serious about our love of metal; it made us who they are, and we wear our influences on our sleeves proudly.

We are now more focused than ever before and are so excited about the new album. So excited in fact, that the combined length of our erections may just reach out and touch ya!"

Born in 1991, ZIMMERS HOLE (known by many as just "The Hole") has been Byron and Jed's significant other band when not busy with Strapping Young Lad or Fear Factory. In the beginning, it was always just a way of spending the weekend drinking far too much and writing absurd songs. As time went on, the group "matured" somewhat, although maturity is highly overrated as far as these guys go, but two remarkable albums ("Bound By Fire" and "Legion of Flames"), a series of successful tours and a string of absolutely unforgettable shows soon followed, putting the mighty ZIMMERS HOLE on the lips of many.

This album will be ZIMMERS HOLE's first release with proper worldwide distribution, and they are determined to make a definitive statement: Beware of The Hole next spring.

WARBRINGER - Thrash is back!!!

With the worldwide signing of LA thrashers WARBRINGER, Century Media Records is proud to announce the triumphant return of classic 80's thrash metal, more vital and more devastating than ever before! Never has the evil, no-holds barred sound of Baloff-era Exodus, Slayer's "Hell Awaits", and Kreator's "Pleasure To Kill" been revived and revitalised for the 21st century in such a strikingly inspired and pure fashion.

After recording their self-released EP to unanimous rave reviews, appearing on the "Speed Kills…Again!" compilation, playing to thrash-starved crowds across the US west coast and attracting serious label interest, they're ready to take the next step with their full-length debut expected to surface in early 2008.

Right now, Bill Metoyer, who helped shape legendary albums from the likes of Slayer, D.R.I., Sacred Reich, Hirax, Corrosion of Conformity, Trouble and Flotsam and Jetsam, is now in the studio with John Kevill (vocals), John Laux (guitar), Adam Carroll (guitar), Andy Laux (bass) and Ryan Bates (drums) producing one of the most vicious debuts that will have longtime metal fans reminiscing and allow younger fans who missed out on the original magic to experience a band that they can call their own.

GOD FORBID - touring Europe with DEVILDRIVER

After being absent from European stages for quite a while now, US metal masters GOD FORBID are returning to these shores when the band hits the road as special guests of DEVILDRIVER. Completing the billing in the UK will be Solitude.

Guitarist Doc Coyle comments as follows:

"We were very disappointed when the US Tour with DEVILDRIVER was cancelled, so we were very pleased to get the offer for a European run. In a way, we are more excited to do this because we haven't been to Europe in about a year, and our last UK run was very short. As a band, we need as much exposure as possible in Europe, and we have to thank DD for hooking us up. It's gonna be a rager!"

With the upcoming release of their debut album 'Enter The Grave' on Monday, Evile have revealed what it was like to work with the legendary Flemming Rasmussen. Evile guitarist Ol Drake has given an insight into their time in the studio and explains the impact that the famed Metallica producer had on them and also the effect that the band had on him:

"We made an old school thrasher feel young again, which to me shows us we're on the right track. If we can add to a Thrasher's collection, we're happy. That's what we want to do, give people some extra thrash action. We're not trying to be the Next Big anything, we just want to Thrash."

Working with such an influential figure within the thrash genre was understandably daunting for the fresh, fast-rising Yorkshire thrashers, but the guitarist admits that it turned out to be a comfortable working environment in the studio, Ol states:

"It was excellent working with Flemming. I admit his involvement with Metallica was slightly daunting but once we were in there he made us feel so at home and relaxed that it didn't matter anymore. He's just a really cool, easy to get along with guy. We couldn't be anymore pleased with how the album's turned out. Flemming's involvement has made it the best it can be. I think an important factor, which added to the album's overall sound, was the use of no samples on the album. We've always been against this modern, processed, mechanical sound, we wanted it to sound 'live'. Kick drums have balls, and you want to hear and feel ...those...balls. Flemming is the Man!!"

Fans can finally get their hands on this hotly anticipated release in UK/Europe on August 27 and September 25th in USA. View a video of the the band in the studio here. To hear some advance tracks head over to

Norwegian death metallers Blood Red Throne have released some exclusive stills from the upcoming video for 'Taste Of God'. The band's guitarist Dod has commented on the video, stating:
"Well, the filming was done quite fast at a venue located in our hometown. We're thinking of combining it with a story, but that's a matter of money, so I can't say anything, though the video will be cool. A lot of head banging and some blood, hehe!"

NIGHTWISH - Give autographs in Bern

After the huge run at the signing session at Nuclear Blast in Donzdorf with more than 1.000 fans, partially even from foreign countries, now the Swiss have the pleasure of getting signatures from Tuomas and Anette. On Thursday, August 30th you can find the two musicians in Bern's station concourse at the ascent of the moving stairs from 6 PM on.

NIGHTWISH's new bombast album, "Dark Passion Play", the first one with new frontwoman and singer Anette Olzon, is scheduled for release on September 28th via Nuclear Blast Records in most parts of Europe.

THE OCEAN - Massive news update

WE STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT, but after some extremely busy weeks in the studio and on the road, we finally shipped out the hard-drives with our recordings this morning to NYC and Helsinki, where they will be mixed by Jonas Olsson and Andrew Schneider (UNSANE, PELICAN, CAVE IN, MADE OUT OF BABIES). Both albums will be mastered on August 28th and 29th by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East Mastering.

After almost six months of daily work on this immense project, comprising more than 83 minutes of music dispersed over two very distinct and different discs that see us exploring entirely new musical territories while frequently employing well-tried oceanic elements, we are more satisfied than ever before with the final result. This is certainly our musically most advanced and most versatile album to date, including songs of truly epic proportions, with huge orchestrations, subtle electronic textures and immense harmonic density and dynamic width.

On the vocal front, we have finally found someone to follow in Meta's footsteps. His name is Mike Pilat, and he will move from the UK to Berlin soon to join the band full-time as bass player and main vocalist, together with Nico. His characteristic voice and incredible range of vocal styles are one aspect that really distinguishes this upcoming double album. Mike's stunning vocal qualities can already be witnessed live on stage during our current tour with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER.

Apart from that, we're happy to welcome some old and new guests on the album, including Caleb Scofield (CAVE IN, ZOZOBRA, OLD MAN GLOOM), Nate Newton (CONVERGE, DOOMRIDERS), Dwid Hellion (INTEGRITY), Tomas Hallbom (BREACH), Eric Kalsbeek (TEXTURES) and musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Our upcoming double album will be entitled "Precambrian" and its concept and album artwork evolve around the early days of this planet, when mother earth was a hostile and uninhabitable place devoid of life and reigned by fire, sulfur and streams of red-glowing lava... The artwork will be done by Martin Kvamme again, we have already seen some stunning rough drafts.

"Precambrian" is composed of a mini-CD with 22 minutes playing time entitled "Hadean/Archaean", and a full-length CD with 61 minutes playing time, entitled "Proterozoic", both referring to successive geological eras. The song titles are as follows:

disc A: "Hadean/Archaean"

I. Hadean
1.) Hadean

II. Archean
2.) Eoarchaean
3.) Paleoarchaean
4.) Mesoarchaean
5.) Neoarchaean

disc B: "Proterozoic"

III. Palaeoproterozoic
1.) Siderian
2.) Rhyacian
3.) Orosirian
4.) Statherian

IV. Mesoproterozoic
5.) Calymmian
6.) Ectasian
7.) Stenian

V. Neoproterozoic
8.) Tonian
9.) Cryogenian

We will be embarking on an all-over European headlining tour all of November to promote the album, supported by INTRONAUT and MOUTH OF THE ARCHITECT (USA).

Philadelphia, PA hard rock powerhouse ALOL (A LIFE ONCE LOST) has posted another brand new song online. The heavy-handed track "Worship" has been uploaded to the band's MySpace page and can be heard at

"Worship" will appear on ALOL's much anticipated new album "IRON GAG", which is set to drop on September 17 via Ferret Music.

The follow-up to the band's 2005 release "Hunter", "IRON GAG" delivers a massive wallop of scorched-out, supercharged rock. Supremely well-paced, the release exhibits the sound of a band injecting a brazen swagger into its wide musical palette. The music dovetails its blend of raw-power metal and fuzz-tripping rock, combining each in various permutations: the rock coming to the forefront in the songs 'Firewater Joyride' and the crunching 'Detest'; the more deliberate side of the band emerging in the bruising 'Worship' and the snide, slow-boil of 'THE WANDERER'. Like a shark, this band can only go forwards and the deeper reaches of "IRON GAG" are very clearly the sound ofA LIFE ONCE LOST finding new waters in which to hunt.

Known for flattening clubs with its firepower, ALOL have captured the intensity of its live show on the forthcoming release, the ever-mutating quintet merging continued artistic growth with an intense, wizened roar. The album was self-produced by the band and mastered at West West Side Music by the venerable Alan Douches.

The final track listing for "IRON GAG" is as follows:

1.) Firewater Joyride
2.) Detest
4.) Worship
5.) All Teeth
6.) Meth Mouth
7.) Masks
8.) Pigeonholed
9.) Others Die
10.) Silence
11.) Ill Will

Upcoming release: "The Silhouette" (digipak + 16 page booklet) Release date: Oct. 15th, US Oct. 23rd
MP3 - The Silouhette - Pulse of the Earth

Season of Mist release the upcoming track AVA INFERI "Pulse of the Earth" on the internet (taken from upcoming album "The Silhouette").

AVA INFERI reveals "The first version of this song had a totally different character. The overall feeling is probably the same but the rhythmic structure was completely different. It had an almost floating, ambient kind of vibe to it and was generally more avant-garde than what it turned out to be. We feel that the new version has all the elements that makes AVA INFERI something different, and it's also one of the most powerful songs we have composed up to this point in our career. A true and powerful declaration.

The lyrics on "Pulse of the Earth" are strongly influenced by nature and the forces therein, and furthermore, they paint a vision of the interactions between man and nature. Note that "The Silhouette" in itself is partly devoted to the elemental aspects of our world and that this song represents the earth element, if any doubt...

On this particular song we also use different types of rhythmic or native
(diverse) instruments to recreate and achieve a kind of ritualistic feeling.
To bring out the message and its essence to the fullest. We also believe that every song presented on "The Silhouette" has its own strength and mission. That each song has its own peculiar twist. An album full of surprises!"

"The Silhouette" will be in stores on Oct 15th and Oct 23rd for the US.

It is now official, WATAIN will head out on a full-scale European crusade in October - the Storm of the Antichrist tour - alongside the ancient Asian warbeast IMPIETY. This will be WATAIN's first headliner tour in Europe, following the April release of the highly acclaimed "Sworn to the Dark". Tourdates hereunder.

"From the vaults below the desert-temple, to the throne among the stars...Sweden's Black Metal Magicians have been burning and pillaging their way through the Black Metal scene ever since their cursed birth.

Notoriously infamous for their blood-soaked, fiery live-perfomances and morbid ways, WATAIN have many times been refered to as "the new usurpers of the Black Metal throne". Their third album "Sworn to the Dark" was released in early 2007 and was welcomed worldwide as one of the most important releases of the genre in years.

After having toured the world with bands like DISSECTION, CELTIC FROST and ANGELCORPSE, it is now time for WATAIN's first headliner tour in Europe. Beware... The werewolves of Satan have been unleashed!"

Dynamic Arts Records has inked a recording deal with rising Finnish star on melodic heavy metal scene: Masterstroke.
Masterstroke's history begun in the year 2002. After a few line-up changes and several gigs band received a well-earned recording deal. Debut album "Apocalypse" was supposed to hit worldwide markets through their previous record label JMT Music. Unfortunately - it didn't happen. In the end "Apocalypse" was released only in Japan, Russia and CIS-countries due to label's bankruptcy.

This didn't stop Masterstroke. Band started to rehearse their next album and commenced to hunt for a new label to release their material. The best option to make things happen was Dynamic Arts Records. At the moment the quintet is in studio capturing Strokes' second full-length album entitled "Sleep". The album will be released in November 2007.

For more information visit band's official or MySpace web pages.
Taster song "Another Failure" from pre-production recording is available for free download at band's official, MySpace or record label's web sites!

Full Blown Chaos, Ferret Music's newest signing, is releasing Heavy Lies The Crown in August, and decided to debut the song "Halos for Heroes," on their myspace page ( ).

Vocalist Ray Mazzola explains the decision saying, "This song has themes that are very true to the way we try to live our lives. It is a tribute to inner strength, to not giving up, and to never taking no for an answer.
There are so many things out there that can chop at your integrity, and there are a lot people that are quick to judge."

Illdisposed sign with AFM

AFM is proud to announce our latest new signing; Danes Illdisposed. There are bands who play at this game we call "The Heavy Metal Scene", and then there are bands like this that live it to the full! This bunch might be one of the less 'in your face' type of bands personally, but ever since their debut album "Four Depressive Seasons" (1993) this band has recorded nine killer albums including their current Roadrunner release "Burn Me Wicked" and toured its ass off! Just our cup of tea really!"

Guitarist Jakob Batten, "I'm really happy to announce this deal with AFM. This will be the beginning of a new chapter in the illdis-Book and we're looking forward to it. It's time to be a priority now. For some years our albums have been limited only to Europe and a few other territories - now it's time for the whole world to be able to buy them. The new album (set for release on March 28th 2008) will contain 12 new songs of the groovy brutality people love (and expect) from us!"

At this point the band is in middle of the songwriting process, so watch this space!

Headhunter re-invigorated and three albums re-issued

Destruction frontman Schmier has brought his old band Headhunter back to life this month. "Parody of Life" (1990), "A Bizarre Gardening Accident" (1992) and "Rebirth" (1994) were all recorded with Jörg Michael (ex Saxon/Stratovarius) (drums) and Schmuddel (guitar) whilst the front man was out of the main band, but now it's time to bring them back. All the albums will be re-released in September and will be resplendent with re-mastered sound, new booklets, classic photos, liner notes and full lyric sheets.

"A lot of fans asked me to reactivate this band during our shows with Destruction," says the singer. "But I took my time to prepare the re-releases carefully. I feel that younger fans deserve the right to listen to the Headhunter songs, which are thrashy but a little bit more melodic than Destruction I'd say, with a little more than before!"

And, Schmier is ready to go one better - Headhunter will release a brand new album too!

"As we were preparing for the re-mastering process, I rediscovered my relation to more melodic songs and at a single blow, I had lots of new ideas. I never lost contact with Jörg and Schmuddel, so I've asked them if they're interested in doing new stuff. In the nineties, the name Headhunter stood for independent minded Metal and I think this new record will still prove that."

The new Headhunter album will be released in Spring 2008.

Mekong Delta; "Lurking Fear" delayed, but the old albums get a dust off

We're sad to announce that due to problems with both the promo and the final pressing for new album "Lurking Fear" it's been necessary to delay the release by one week until September 3rd.

On the flip side though, Mekong Delta's original CD's "Dances Of Death", "Kaleidoscope", "Visions Fugitives" and "Pictures At An Exhibition" will be re-released on September 24th, and the records "Mekong Delta", "The Music Of Erich Zann" and "The Principle Of Doubt" will be re-released on September 2nd, so all fans of the band can celebrate the new record and complete their collections.

NIGHTWISH - …and autographs at Metal Expo

Nightwish will attend to this years Swedish Metal Expo at Fryshuset in Stockholm to sign their brand new single "Amaranth". The signingsession will start this Saturday (01.09.) at 14.15 CET.

ARSIS - News on the upcoming album

Guitarist/vocalist James Malone of Virginia's ARSIS has issued the following update:

"Despite the numerous headaches caused by our van's breakdown this summer, we spent time working on perfecting pre-production for our debut release for Nuclear Blast Records, tentatively titled 'We Are The Nightmare'. We will begin recording the album on September 3, 2007 at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts with Zeuss (who has worked with SHADOWS FALL and HATEBREED) handling the production. I feel that this will be the most exciting ARSIS album to date. We are now a full band and every member has contributed to the writing process for this album. While it is more varied than anything we have ever written, I feel the result is a much more focused product."

ARSIS drummer Darren Cesca added: "This is an album any fan of ARSIS or heavy music in general should get excited about. We've really captured the band's sound and improved it in all aspects. It's dark, melodic, and very technical at times, but we wrote songs you can pump your fists to. I've definitely pushed my drumming very far for this record and I know the rest of the band will be pushing themselves as well.

One thing's for sure: this is going to be one fun album to listen to. As soon as we finish recording, we plan on shooting a video for 'We Are the Nightmare' in October, then we'll be hitting the road with ENSLAVED in November and EXODUS in January. The album should be stores sometime in early 2008 and I am sure more touring will ensue after that. 2008 should be a busy year for us and we're looking forward to it!"

All of the ARSIS recordings (which include two demos, one EP, and two full-length albums) have won the band many rabid fans among the metal underground, the metal press, and metal musicians themselves. Their 2004 debut, "A Celebration of Guilt", was praised to hell and back by Revolver magazine as "the best in the genre since AT THE GATES' legendary swan song ['Slaughter of the Soul']."

THREE shoot video for "All That Remains"

Woodstock, NY-based band THREE (3) shot a video this past week for their song "All That Remains", which is the first single off their new album, "The End Is Begun", released last July. The video was directed and shot by acclaimed director David Brodsky (GWAR, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, HELMET) and his crew at MyGoodEye. The performance portion of the video took place at the site of a crumbling, abandoned castle usually closed off to film/video crews. However, after hearing THREE's music they had a change of heart, convinced that this band would be the perfect compliment to their location.

"The End Is Begun" was mixed by Toby Wright, who has previously worked with ALICE IN CHAINS, METALLICA, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and FEAR FACTORY, among many others. The album has been released last July via Metal Blade Records.

THE ARCANE ORDER - Info on upcoming album

The recording of the new album is closing in really fast! We will enter the studio just 20 days from now (September 4th at Hansen Studios), and we are currently rehearsing our asses off. There's still plenty of work to do, but we are loving it. And people, we are confident that you, just like us, will be stoked by the new material! It is turning out really, really promising!

Sons Of Nero, who did the cover artwork for "The Machinery Of Oblivion", will once again be responsible for the artwork, and we can't wait to see their ideas.

Songtitles set to appear on the upcoming record are: "Eruptions Of Red", "When Oceans Becomes Deserts", "The Offering", "Sanctity Of Allegiance" and "The Serpent Tower". The album title will be announced probably within the next week."

THE ABSENCE - TESTAMENT cover song posted online

Tampa, Florida-based melodic thrashers THE ABSENCE have posted their cover of TESTAMENT's "Into the Pit" on their MySpace page: . The track comes off the group's sophomore CD, "Riders of the Plague", which was released on August 10th via Metal Blade Records.

THE ABSENCE also shot a video for their track "Dead and Gone" at the end of July in New York with director Kevin Custer (THE DESTRO, DECYFER DOWN) which can be viewed online.

Bam Margera has made it his mission to expose an entire generation of his peers to some original high-energy music through his VIVA LA BANDS album and tour series. When discussing "exposing" and the VIVA LA BANDS, VOL 2 CD, one immediately thinks of… The Bloodhound Gang!

Their exclusive track on the compilation that hits stores on September 3, 2007, "Screwing You On The Beach At Night," has spawned a video. This masterwork, shot in the coastal paradise that is Atlantic City, New Jersey, takes one of the sexiest videos ever made and ruins it for everyone. Brought to you by Ferret Music and Filthy Note Records, VIVA LA BANDS, VOL 2 features exclusive tracks, written and recorded for the CD/DVD combo from some of Bam's favourite acts like THE BLOODHOUND GANG, CLUTCH, IN FLAMES, CKY and VAINS OF JENNA. US-exclusive tracks from SHINY TOY GUNS and THE SOUNDS as well as music from other faves like GWAR, DIMMU BORGIR and KILL HANNAH also appear on the killer compilation.

The DVD component to this rocking release contains almost an hour of never-before-seen Bam footage - a must-have for the 'Jackass generation!'

Revealing what makes the DVD special, Bam adds "I'm finding some of my best, unused footage for the DVD. Everyone keeps asking me for a CKY5 but I think this DVD might be the closest thing to that!"

VIVA LA BANDS' companion US tour will be taking out some of Bam's favourite acts - CRADLE OF FILTH, GWAR, CKY and VAINS OF JENNA. The tour runs September 24th 2007 in Baltimore, MD through November 3rd in Worcester, MA.

Fans can also expect to see Bam and his friends at select shows.

EXODUS - New video coming

Set to go into production in September, San Francisco's pioneer thrashers EXODUS will be shooting a video for the song "Riot Act" off their upcoming new album The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A slated for release in North America on October 23, 2007.

The video director for "Riot Act" will be none other than Jon Schnepp. Known most recently for his work on Metalocalypse (an animated program about Dethklok, the world's most popular death metal band) on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, the show has been described as "Spinal Tap meets Scooby Doo meets Norway." Schnepp is responsible for the character design of the five Dethklok members, directs the majority of the Metalocalypse episodes for each season, and works closely with the show's co-creators/writers Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha.

EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt has this to say about the shoot:
"Having the opportunity to work with Jon on our video for 'Riot Act' is going to be amazing. Having just recently done our own guest appearance on Metalocalypse, we went out on a limb and asked Jon if he'd shoot our video. When he said yes, we were stoked to say the least. The ideas that he's come up with promise to make this our best video ever! I usually hate making videos, but this time I'm actually excited about it! It will be unique, and of course, it will be heavy!"

Fans are encouraged to visit the EXODUS blog at in September for video-related updates.

AS I LAY DYING - Making of "Nothing Left" & video interview online

As we announced before, AS I LAY DYING have just published the video for the first single "Nothing Left" off their brand new album "An Ocean Between Us" - take a look at it at .

The bleak, futuristic video was shot in Van Nuys, California at Sound City Studios with Brian Thompson (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, ANGELS & AIRWAVES) lending his directorial talents. The story, which was conceived by the band and refined as a collaboration between the band and Thompson, follows a female character through a series of events which takes place within a decaying, future landscape.

Speaking about the recent filming experience, guitarist Nick Hipa said, "The concept of our new video is conceptually akin to books like 'The Scarlet Letter', while visually it is influenced by the idea of post-apocalyptic dystopian societies as seen in films like 'Blade Runner' and '1984'. There are dudes with machine guns and gas masks, so already it's one of my favourite videos we've ever done."

See the behind-the-scenes footage from the video shoot at .

A 10-minute video interview with AS I LAY DYING drummer Jordan Mancino, conducted by Finland's Get In The Pit magazine at this year's Provinssirock festival (June 15-17) in Seinäjoki, Finland, has been posted at .

"An Ocean Between Us" has just been released today (in Germany/Austria/Switzerland/Italy) and will be out on August 27th (in Europe). The album is available as a ltd. first edition featuring a special box packaging incl. a high quality AILD lanyard! The record is also available on toxic green vinyl!

To coincide with the new Darkthrone album (due September 24th) we are currently taking pre-orders on exclusive bundles featuring the special edition of the 'F.O.A.D' album, plus a limited 'Fu*k Off & Die' t-shirt (Available in Medium, Large & Extra Large).

MUNICIPAL WASTE just wrapped up a European trek that most certainly left an impressionable mark on every audience they played well as many bruises, broken bodies and a lingering smell of beer and puke.
Just how wild were the shows in Europe, you ask? See for yourself by watching this clip from their recent set at the Leeds Festival.
Think you could start up an even bigger pit than that? Come and face the WASTE live on tour in September and October, (click here for dates). Get the latest dates and much more at

New Weathermen/Ferret Music have announced the signing of Foxy Shazam to their roster. The second act inked to the label, Foxy is a worthy successor to the cerebral but fun bar set by label-mates Heavy Heavy Low Low.

Hailing from Cincinnatti, OH, the group which formed in 2004 create keyboard propelled songs that layer spastic hardcore noise atop fractured Classic Soul inspired pop.

The self-proclaimed "Evel Knievel of Rock N Roll" was brought to Nick Storch of New Weathermen's attention by Jesse Korman of # 12 Looks Like You (who took Foxy on as the first band in his management company, Piermont Mgmt).

"He told me I had to check them out and at first I had no idea what was going on in their music and put it aside. A few weeks later I put their demos back in with a fresh mind and it clicked right away, these guys are chaotic but there's also a real pop sensibility that doesn't usually occur with bands this far out."

The band is currently in the studio with Producer Casey Bates (Chiodos, Heavy Heavy Low Low) recording their New Weathermen debut, Introducing Foxy to be released in early 2008. The band proclaims that the new songs are a huge evolution from their self-released album The Flamingo Trigger (2005) samples of which you can hear on

Also known to those who encounter their live shenanigans, Foxy Shazam will bring their fervor nationwide on their upcoming U.S. tour with Kenotia, Eyes Set To Kill and Karate High School through September.

Upcoming release: "American Inquisition" (deluxe digipak + 16 page booklet) Release date: Oct. 15th, US Oct. 23rd
MP3 - American Inquisition - Stop bleeding me

"Blood and Crucifixion, the pillars of Catholicism. Though not unique, in some form or another, to religious cultures thousands of years before Christ, it was not until the creation of The Holy Roman Empire that it was realised that Blood & Crucifixion was big business, as it is today and it promises to be one of the fastest growing enterprises ever.

During the Spanish Inquisition it was not difficult for the Aztec or Maya to make the transition to Christ, they were already experts on Blood and Crucifixion. Naturally the Spanish of that time thought nothing of dosing thousands of natives with smallpox to quell any objection to Spanish rule.

Now it seems some people miss the old days and the old ways and would love the world to go back and do it again. But this time, there are a lot more ways to kill. So if this is what you are into, you must be very excited!"

Dramatised in word and song by Valor & Maitri - CHRISTIAN DEATH

Listen to "Stop Bleeding on Me" here. "American Inquisition" will be released on October 15th and October 23rd in the US in an exclusive digipak complete with embossing and spot lacquering.

MySpace will also be hosting an exclusive album premiere for "The Big Dirty"
on August 31.

Singer Keith Buckley had this to say about the new video:

"It has been announced that in the wake of the MySpace premiere of Every Time I Die's "We'rewolf" video, the county of Wiltshire, England has demolished the prehistoric monument of Stonehenge, citing: "This video is far greater than anything man has ever constructed." To those of you yet to view this historic footage, beware. Such beauty was not intended for mortal eyes and may render you sh*tless."

EVILE 'Enter The Grave' and BLOOD RED THRONE 'Come Death' OUT NOW!

This week sees the release of two blistering new releases from Earache death-metallers Blood Red Throne and fast-rising Yorkshire thrashers Evile. The abruptly titled 'Come Death' from Norway's Blood Red Throne offers a dense and unrelenting death-metal sound, which has been described as as 'A solid nod to death metal's old school' (Kerrang!).

Also out this week is the debut release 'Enter The Grave' from Huddersfield thrashers Evile, who are leading the current UK New Thrash Wave. Produced by the legendary Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica), this hotly anticipated release displays a fresh take on an authentic thrash-metal sound.

Summed up by Kerrang! magazine as 'Charged like a battery with the raucous fury of The Haunted at their most savage, honed on a steady diet of early Slayer, Sacred Reich and Nuclear Assault, produced by the hand that ushered in Metallica's 'Master Of Puppets' and 'Ride The Lightening', and distilled through that all-important filter of fresh-faced energy and aggression, 'Enter The Grave' is an absolute hair-swirling, air-punching beast'.

Both of these releases can be ordered online from the Earache webstore now by clicking the links below. All orders of 'Enter The Grave' from the Earache webstore receive a free, exclusive Evile 7-inch. New t-shirts from both bands can also be ordered from these locations:
