CATARACT seeking new bassplayer

After several discussions, Cataract and bass player Michael decided to part ways. We thank him for everything in the past 8 years and wish him all the best for his future!!!

We are now looking for an immediate replacement. We need a dedicated person that is willing to play a lot, take part in regular rehearsals, spend your holidays touring with the coolest bands, take some crazy rides and spend weekends in vans, on stages and in foreign beds.

You should bring talent and experience in bands if possible, and it would be ace if you listen to lots of metal and hardcore. You should be loving this as we do, willing to share a future vision in the band and not being afraid of changes and discussions. Creativity is a must.

We offer all of the above and some nice extras such as an endorsement deal, a record contract, forthcoming touring all over Europe and more. There is a bright future ahead for Cataract. We want you to be part of it.

Just send your application to Write everything we would need to know about you. Don´t forget to write down your phone number too! You will get an answer within a few days.

Interview with Chris Barnes of SIX FEET UNDER now up on the National Hockey League's official website!

A senior writer for, the National Hockey League's official website, recently conducted an interview with Chris Barnes of Six Feet Under to talk about his attachment to the Buffalo Sabres, Chris’ hometown hockey team, who are playing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs right now.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview that just took place on Wednesday, May 31 st:
Chris Barnes, the vocalist from the heavy-metal band Six Feet Under, calls Tampa home these days, but his heart remains in his home town of Buffalo -- and with his beloved Sabres.

For that reason, Barnes finds himself in his Tampa house every night Buffalo plays in these Stanley Cup Playoffs, parked in front of the television or listening to the team's radio broadcast through the Internet. The whole time, he lives and dies by the fortunes of a team he has followed since his childhood days in Buffalo .

The album will be released on October 20th, through Nuclear Blast Records, with a single release on the track “Natural High” available on September, 22nd.

Other song titles on the album include "Carved In Stone," "Titan," "Dark Wings, Dark Words," "Shadow Empire," "Rebel Inside," "Threshold, "Howlin' With The Pac," and "The Fire Burns Forever”.

Guitar player and main songwriter Oscar Dronjak comments: “Our goal was to get as heavy and energetic production as we had on the previous albums, but to improve it and the performance even more. Musically, we built on the foundation of our previous work and developed the sound, and perhaps brought back some of the speed.

Without losing the heaviness and the groove, of course. HammerFall is, and always will be, a Heavy Metal band."

Everyone who will visit this years Earthshaker Festival ( will get the chance to listen to one of those new tracks live. Says Oscar: “We will do "The Fire Burns Forever", the song we recorded a video together with the Swedish athletics a couple of weeks back. As far as I know, it will be available for download during August only, so it will be in promotion for that. We're also going to bust out a few songs we haven't done in a while, just for fun.”

Don’t miss it!

Finnish metallers Insomnium have completed their third album

Finnish metallers Insomnium have completed their third album. The new release is titled "Above the Weeping World" and contains nine tracks of epic melodic death metal.

All the familiar Insomnium ingredients - sorrow and fury, melancholy and anguish – are present but in a meaner and tighter form. Working in the famous Fantom and Finnvox studios has made sure that this time the overall sound is stunningly heavy. The album is released in October 2006 by Candlelight Records.

A Video for the song "Mortal Share" will be launched before the album.

"This is by far the best Insomnium album", Says vocalist and bassist Niilo Sevänen. "This is the First time we feel that we really succeeded in studio and all the songs sound just the way they should. This time we also feel that we have nine great tracks on the album – none of the songs are any weaker than the others. Even the video looks really cool. So naturally we are very, very happy with the result " here is a link for a sneak preview of the demo version of the video.

UNEARTH shoot their first video for upcoming album III: In The Eyes Of Fire!

On June 6th, UNEARTH teamed up with Darren Doane (Def Tones, Every Tim e I Die, As I Lay Dying, A Life Once Lost and Poison The Well) to create their first video for ‘Giles’ from their upcoming Metal Blade Records release III: In The Eyes Of Fire

The footage was shot at a massive soundstage in Burbank, California to capture the bands raw, pure metal in this performance driven video clip.

Director Darren Doane on UNEARTH and the new Giles video, “Music videos are a tricky thing. To show the band, to show a movie? Or both? In my opinion, a video should do one thing and be an extension of who the band is. As much as I love telling stories, I love bands more. Sometimes I get a song so brutal that I can’t even imagine a storyline. This is what happened when I heard this new Unearth song.

Music evokes imagery. How to embrace UNEARTH and add that external extension to the power of the song became the question. To make the biggest performance video we can; was going to be about hundreds and thousands of amps of light. One of my favorite lighting coordinators/Gaffers is a man named Joel Unagnst.

He's been involved in some of the biggest and best projects ever. From No Doubt, to Metallica, Van Halen, Motley Crue... So, I begged him to be apart of this video and help me create a world of light, darkness, shadows, lightning, with exploding surges of lights. He agreed and we are off. In the end it will not be about the lights. The lights and lack of light has one job, and that’s to embrace the song and power of the band. If we forget that, we lose. Videos are about the band. This band kicks a**. This video must kick a**.”

Don’t miss UNEARTH as they tour on Ozzfest all summer long!

CELLADOR new video online now!

”Ok, so some of you may know that our debut album entitled ENTER DECEPTION is coming out here very soon, June 27th in the USA, June 21st in Japan, and June 30th in Europe. We have lots of interesting stuff including a bunch of reviews, interviews, media coverage, starting to take shape for our record, we'll try to post as much of it as we can as they come along for all of ya.

As stated in the last update we have released and unveiled the first track off our debut record called "Leaving All Behind" through a number of different sites like and through Metal Blade's European, USA, and Japanese websites.

A couple weeks after release we found out from Metal Blade that Leaving All Behind actually made the Top 10 most downloaded tracks the first 2 weeks it was released on, the website that Metal Blade releases all their band's audio clips from. The song reached as high as #6, which we heard was quite amazing especially for a band's first record and audio clip. This is great because it’s showing us the interest that’s being generated already for our band which is awesome and only has us more pumped for its release.

Also the radio add date for ENTER DECEPTION is June 13th, essentially meaning it goes to all metal and hard rock radio stations in the USA at that time for radio play.

Be sure to call in to your station and request CELLADOR if you’re not already hearing it in the coming weeks. Show them there really is a rising US interest in power/speed/true metal, we already see it and know it but some of these out of touch radio guys need to hear it from you!! We did a bunch of radio ID's so you very well may even be hearing us introduce our own song for you guys when it plays.

Our video we recorded for the song Leaving All Behind off our debut record is completely finished and can already be viewed at HERE but we are waiting a little bit still before exhibiting it ourselves due to the policy of many potential TV shows that will be playing the video!

We played a number of shows these last weeks that were very successful and are very anxious to begin touring for our debut record. Keep checking back in the next weeks to find out all the information on tour dates.” CELLADOR

RED AIM recording new album!

"Yes, it is true. RED AIM are on the verge of a new aera. As reported in the media before, Dr. Rogers and crew have transcended into the realms of the ones who love to love the dead. WE promised you more details from the crypt - and now it´s time to unleash some facts:

Some days ago the saartanic five have finished a first studio session for the upcoming album "The Pink Necromantic". The title track (which will be the leading theme for the concept of the album - "the main theme of the necromantic as he rises") and some more catchy tracks have been recorded and will be mixed while these news come to light.

One or two more studio sessions in different studios with different producers are on the schedule for the upcoming months, and the pink necromantic is supposed to see the pale light of a release later this year.

The concept of the pink necromantic will be accompanied by a mere philosophical essay based upon the words of some classical philosophers as well as the deeds of some necromantic gentlemen in history."

MNEMIC - Begin tracking new album

The Danish Metal Machine MNEMIC have begun recording their yet-to-be-titled third album for Nuclear Blast Records in Los Angeles. Production is being handled by Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory, Threat Signal) as well as new addition Warren Riker (Down, Cathedral, The Fugees) who began tracking the band at Track Record Studios (Kiss, Megadeth, Aerosmith) this past weekend.

The band had this to say, "Finally after 2 weeks of rehearsals and pre-production we've started tracking the drums with Warren Riker and Christian Olde Wolbers in North Hollywood. We've been really busy working on 13 brand new songs that kick a**, and along with new singer Guillaume Bideau (ex-Scarve) this marks a new era for the band. Things are sounding great and we are just getting started!"

This marks the first time that MNEMIC have done pre-production and recording in America and the second production project of Olde Wolbers for Nuclear Blast as he recently turned the knobs for Threat Signal's debut Under Reprisal (due out August 22nd in North America). He commented recently, "I'm honored to get the opportunity to work with MNEMIC, and I am actually a fan of the band."

The follow-up to 2004's "The Audio Injected Soul", MNEMIC's new album is due out in early 2007.

BLEED THE SKY - Guitarist in critical condition

Orange County's BLEED THE SKY have issued the following statement regarding the condition of their guitarist Wayne Miller, who was recently hospitalized in Louisville while the band was on tour with DOPE:

"We all went and saw Wayne at the hospital today in Louisville. According to the doctors he has severe pneumonia caused by some sort of viral infection which they haven't pinpointed yet. The infection has caused lots of complications where he's essentially on life support to breathe for him, keep him hydrated and protect against further infection. They thought it was an appendicitis at first, and then a form of strep thoat, but now they're not sure. His condition, they said, is critical but stable. We're going to be here until he gets back on his feet, so any shows as of now, we will not be playing until further notice. Based on what we saw, he doesn't look like he's going to be getting out of that bed any time soon, it's really serious."

Get well soon, Wayne!

FU MANCHU - Signed a worldwide recording agreement with The Century Family

Legendary Orange County hard rockers FU MANCHU to release tenth album early next year.

After nine albums, countless world tours and more than a dozen years of leading their scene, FU MANCHU – perhaps the definitive Southern California hard rock band of the last decade – have signed a worldwide recording agreement with The Century Family. Their tenth, as-yet-untitled album will surface in early 2007 on Century Media Records in Europe and on Liquor and Poker Music in America. An Asian release will be confirmed in the coming months.

“FU MANCHU is one of the most influential rock groups of recent times,” says Marco Barbieri, president of The Century Family and Liquor and Poker Music’s “high roller.” “We’re proud and excited to welcome the band to our roster, and we look forward to being part of a new chapter of their impressive history.”

Founded by guitarist/vocalist Scott Hill, FU MANCHU debuted their ‘70s-inspired fuzz rock on 1994’s acclaimed “No One Rides For Free”. Over the next decade, the group received extensive international acclaim for such landmark albums as 1996’s “In Search Of…”, the following year’s “The Action Is Go”, 2000’s “King of the Road” (hailed by Rolling Stone as “the ultimate desert-rock car album”) and “California Crossing” (2001).

Most recently, the group released “Start The Machine” in 2004. Supported by a nationwide tour with Corrosion of Conformity, the album was praised by All Music Guide as proof that “FU MANCHU have actually improved with age: They first stood out simply as one of the first groups to do what they do, and now deservingly stand out as one of the best at what they do.”

The band – which for the last four-plus years has featured Hill, drummer

Scott Reeder (ex-Smile) and longtime members Bob Balch (guitars) and Brad

Davis (bass) – also has several famous alumni: Nebula mainstays Eddie Glass

and Ruben Romano, as well as former Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age drummer Brant Bjork.

FU MANCHU will track their new album at Hollywood’s Grandmaster Recorders studios (Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Black Crowes) – where they also recorded “In Search Of…” and “The Action Is Go” – with co-producer Andrew Alekel (Weezer, Rancid, Queens of the Stone Age). The band plans to record 13 new songs and, in classic FU fashion, three cover songs: The Cars’ “Moving In Stereo,” Void’s “Who Are You” and Van Halen’s “D.O.A.”

“We are excited to be working with Liquor and Poker and the entire Century Family,” Hill says. “We feel that they really understand rock bands like us. Our new record is heavier, thicker, fuzzier and more aggressive than anything that we've done for a while. We can’t wait to get this record out and then hit the road to play these songs live. We can only turn up so much at practice, but these songs are meant to be played loud!”

Although recording will take precedence for the immediate future, FU MANCHU will perform live periodically throughout the rest of 2006 and kick off a full world tour early next year.

Lacuna Coil - Release 'Enjoy The Silence' as 2nd Single

Some shows, we played in front of some of the biggest crowds we’ve ever seen, and with so many of our favourite bands.”

Right now the band is gearing up for their much-anticipated return to the U.S. on June 29th as part of this year’s Ozzfest main stage line-up. In between they will play a number of high profile off-dates this summer with the likes of Avenged Sevenfold, Atreyu and Disturbed, among others.

REMEMBERING NEVER to tour Europe with Shai Hulud in August 2006

South Floridian socio-politico rage-core unit REMEMBERING NEVER are hitting the road for a sting of dates with Shai Hulud and Parkway Drive this August and September.

From a cynical eye towards those who govern in all realms to messages of a vegetarian lifestyle, Remembering Never isn¹t afraid to ruffle feathers.

Incorporating metallic speed and ire into their guitars, shards of melody and chaotic arrangements that threaten to collapse their sound is a combination of technical skill and primal aggression.

THE HAUNTED Complete New Album; Post Studio and Video Report

Swedish thrash titans THE HAUNTED have just completed the recording process for the highly anticipated follow-up to 2004’s critically acclaimed “rEVOLVEr” album.

The new album was recorded in Denmark at Antfarm Studios with renowned producer Tue Madsen (Himsa, Kataklysm) and it looks to be their most accomplished work to date.

The group spent months working on the new material pushing themselves to create something unique that combines certain elements of their previous work, while ultimately forging ahead in new, unexplored directions. An announcement in regards to the title of the new album and its release date will follow over the next few weeks.

Peter Dolving (vocals) checks in with the following post studio report: "Oh, the power of the Internet and wireless computers. I'm currently sitting on the john writing this report thinking about all you good folks out there, while my kids are watching cartoons in the living room.

We just finished a new album and I gotta say, I'm proud as fu*k. It's bigger, better, madder and thicker. Hell, that's the weird part with the album business - how the hell to describe what you've just done. Anyway, it rocks. Big time. Really.

Per (drums) told me at rehearsals a couple of days ago, ‘If I died tomorrow I couldn't be more satisfied so if people don't like it, fu*k them.’ I couldn't agree more. We started writing around Ozzfest last year, bouncing around ideas, recording anything that came to mind without the old ‘more or less metal’-filter, and pretty much knew that we were sick of the whole 900 bpm-chugga-chugga-AAARRRGGGGH-PUKE-end.

We wanted to do something we'd just touched upon with our previous four albums. This album is simply more diverse, dynamic and HEAVY AS FU*K. Bands like Trouble, Autopsy, Ganx, Masters Of The Universe, King Crimson and early Metallica have all really had a great influence on us as a band, and I think this album really draws a lot in color from those artists.”

“We just completed the recording process and are now putting the artwork together with Manne Andreasson, a bearded weirdo and dear friend or ours.

Working with Tue Madsen's been great. The dude is down-to-earth man, and working with someone who's got his sh*t together like that is a joy. Anders spent six weeks in Denmark getting guitars down while working with Per and Jonas and then helping me out while I was doing vocals. Before we started recording, he was telling us he didn't want to do ANY solos on this record, but in the end we got him to do four really cool pieces.

I think we've managed to find an immense sound: the drums are clearer, heavier and less processed, and we've even got acoustic guitars, congas, strings and loads of weird noise manipulations going on. As far as the vocals go, I honestly didn't know I could even sing some of the stuff. I was nervous as fu*k when I got down to Tue's studio, and felt like a complete rookie: ‘Sh*t, how the hell am I going to live up to this.’ Turns out all I had to do was keep running my miles and warm up like when we're on tour. You can look forward to an album we're proud as fu*k of, and we're looking forward to seeing you all again as soon as we head out for tour. It'll be ugly as ever, I'm sure.

Stay sick.”

Metal Blade welcomes THIS ENDING!

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of THIS ENDING from Stockholm, Sweden! THIS ENDING were formerly known as The Plague, but had to change their name due to legal constraints.

THIS ENDING started during the fall of 2005. 13 songs were created, three of which are featured on the downloadable demo (check their homepage or myspace-site – links below) recorded at Offbeat Studio in the winter of 2005.

THIS ENDING existed in a previous incarnation as A Canorous Quintet. After several years of absence from the metal scene the guys decided that the time was right for a new era. It was time for the age of the plague. Members of the band are/have been active in the following bands: Amon Amarth, Guidance Of Sin, Niden Div. 187 and Sins Of Omission, among others.

"We are very pleased to be working with one of the most dedicated metal labels in the industry. Metal Blade is the first and only label that came to our minds when we were deciding on which label to present our demo with. We felt that they would understand and appreciate our style. We are confident that THIS ENDING and Metal Blade will have a strong future together and look forward to the outcome of this partnership. We will be very proud to bear the Metal Blade logo on our releases." (THIS ENDING)

BLEED THE SKY - Guitarist recovered!

Having recovered from a diagnosis of severe pneumonia compounded by an unknown viral infection, BLEED THE SKY guitarist Wayne Miller is in stable enough condition for his band mates to re-join the Dope tour on June 30th in Philadelphia. They will be performing as a four-piece.

Following his June 18th performance in Louisville, Kentucky, Miller was rushed to a nearby hospital with a high fever. Encouraging his bandmates to continue with the tour, Miller stayed behind, but his condition worsened. After his admission into the Intensive Care Unit, family members flew out from California and BLEED THE SKY dropped off the Dope tour two nights later to drive 15 hours to be by his side. It appears this outpouring of moral support greatly aided Miller's recovery.

"You're not gonna believe what the second thing was that Wayne said after he got off the respirator," reported BLEED THE SKY bassist Daylen 'Disco' Elsey with relieved laughter. "Well, the first thing he said was, 'I'm really tired.' The second thing he said was, 'So what are we gonna do about the two shows that we missed?' Can you believe that?! [laughter] The guy almost dies and he's worried about the shows he missed!"

"We're trying to keep the dying to a minimum on this tour," joked BLEED THE SKY guitarist Kyle Moorman.

"We all took shifts watching him," continued Elsey. "He kept trying to take the tubes out of this nose, but we wouldn't let him. For some crazy reason, he thought we were gonna kick him out of the band 'cause he got sick. Yeah, right. We're gonna finish out the tour with Kyle covering all the guitar work 'cause we know he wants us to, but there's no way he's outta the band. He's irreplaceable."

With Miller now in stable condition, the four-piece BLEED THE SKY will play the remaining 22 shows on the Jagermeister-sponsored Summer Of Sin Tour headlined by Dope.

States the band, "We really wanna thank everyone for their support through this whole situation. The online posts, the text messages, the phone calls. They all helped us stay positive for Wayne."

Well-wishers can post comments on BLEED THE SKY's MySpace site, located at this location.
