VINCE NEIL Tattoos & Tequilas Frontiers (2010)

Vince Neil

Vince Neil's latest solo album 'Tattoos & Tequila' is a collection of covers that have influenced him over the years and 2 new original tracks.

Production is mostly handled by Jack Blades, who has done a great job of capturing Neil sounding his best in years. The 2 new songs, title track 'Tattoos & Tequila' and 'Another Bad Day' were produced by Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Ozzy, Def Leppard etc) and are easily as good as anything he has released in his career so far- it actually makes you wonder why they didn't go for a wholly original record.

Accompanied by his long term solo band- comprising of bassist Dana Strum and guitarist Jeff Blando (both members of Slaughter) and drummer Zoltan Chaney, Neil has recorded an album that sounds like Motley Crue throwing a BBQ in Vegas with free beer and half naked cowgirls. His version of Elvis Presley's 'Viva Las Vegas' actually captures the feeling and energy of the city and on Cheap Trick's 'He's A Whore' you are reminded of Motley Crue in their prime.

Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Who'll Stop The Rain' shows a side of Neil's voice that we haven't heard before - and it actually works very well. Other highlights include The Sex Pistols' 'No Feelings', Aerosmith's 'Nobody's Fault' and Elton John's 'Bitch Is Back'.

'Tattoos & Tequila' is a fun sounding rock record that will please Crue fans and Vince Neil fans alike, and as he says himself, "This album has nothing to do with Motley Crue, Tattoos and Tequila is basically my life".
