REDEMPTION The Origins Of Ruin
Inside Out (2007)

Third album from the band who feature ex-Fates Warning vocalist Ray Alder, who does justice to the songs composed by Nicolas van Dyk (who also handles keyboards and guitars).

The music ranges from prog metal to moments of almost thrash metal playing (due no doubt to guitarist Bernie Versailles previous band being thrash metallers Agent Steel!). The title track throws in a curveball being a very mellow piece amongst all the guitar driven music.

The epic numbers 'Memory' and 'Fall On You' allow the band to really show their musical prowess and along with the title track are easily the albums highlights.

Any fan of prog/melodic metal would doubtless enjoy this album and with Ray Alder's vocals it lifts the band above many others in this crowded genre.

***½
