RARE BIRD Epic Forest El/Cherry Red (2007)

Rare Bird

While Rare Bird's earlier work had been lush, orchestral and reminiscent of 60s pop, with twin keyboards, the change of direction and addition of not one but two guitars, actually worked quite well.

This 1972 album features some nods back at the whimsical end of the 60s with a nod at progressive rock.

Some fine vocal harmonies work well with the folk rock strumming, while some heavier numbers are fiery in a very pleasant way.

There's touch of jazz in 'Turn The Lights Out' before a neat riff kicks in.

Very nice, but at times rather too nice.

A good album well annotated though.
