WYCKED SYNN The Vision
(Chavis Records CR007) (2003)

New melodic metal outfit from the US who will appeal to fans of Iron Maiden, Lillian Axe, Dokken et al. After the brief instrumental intro, Into The Darkness its galloping drums and guitars ahoy on Tell The Tale. Vocalist Gary Grant having a classic metal vocal, handling screaming and quieter vocals with ease. Evil Ways is another pummelling track but retains a catchy melody. Touch of Queensryche (very Suite Sister Mary) on the slow builder Let it Rain which also features a female vocal. Good sense of pace and power on this one.

For guitar fans try the instrumental workout on K.M.A. For just one guitarist Ken Orth certainly lays down plenty of crunching riffs! A couple of tracks lack that certain spark, In My Mind is a tad overlong and Unchosen Path lacks the cutting edge of the other tracks on offer here.

Not bad at all and for those who like their metal melodic, with a big 80s vibe, its pretty much a must have.
