VAIN On The Line Jackie Rainbow Records JR 02042005

Vain were one of, if not the best of the late-eighties glam bands, and have reunited most of their most successful line ups for this new album. A great comeback effort it is too!!

Opening track “Running on Empty” sounds like the last 15 years never happened. Tracks “So Free Now”, “Slave” and “Keep Shining On” highlight the unmistakable vocals of frontman Davy Vain and stunning guitar work throughout from guitarists James Scott and Danny West, there is a touch of 1989s “No Respect” here and that is no bad thing. Slower tracks “Last Sin” and “Turn to Sand” fit in nicely with the rest of the album.

Overall this is a great album, and with the bands recent UK shows, hopefully the band will be luckier this time round and we will see a lot more of them.
