ULI JON ROTH & ELECTRIC SUN Beyond The Astral Skies
SPV (2005)

Originally released back in 1984, it now gets a re-release and remaster under the SPV Super Value series. Joining guitar virtuoso Uli Jon Roth are Zeno Roth and Zeno vocalist Michael Flexig, plus former Jethro Tull drummer Clive Bunker and Samson singer Nicky Moore.

The best tracks for me are when Flexig steps up to the mic such as 'What Is Love?' and 'Icebreaker'.

You can't fault Roth's guitar playing which at times is sublime but the music just lacks a certain something for me and to be honest if it didn't feature Flexig on vocals I couldn't see myself playing this album again.

Good for fans of Uli Jon Roth and worth a go at this low price if you enjoy guitar-led symphonic music.
