THE DUKE 'My Kung Fu Is Good'
Spitfire SPITCD254 (2005)

The Duke is basically Rich Ward, guitarist with Stuck Mojo and Fozzy. Taking up vocals too, there are some mature songs on here, which is effectively a pop album on which he tries to rock out with some brutal guitar riffing.

On tracks like 'Immune', the brutality in the guitar in unnecessary given that they are pop songs, and the guitar is second rate to the likes of Manny Charlton.

Nothing wrong or bad here, it’s just not as strong or heavy as Ward obviously wants to be, and it a little mixed.

**½
