STEVE EARLE Live At Montreux
Eagle EAGCD333 (2006)

A chequered career with plenty of lows and highs, this 2005 set was a bit of a triumphant return for Earle. Just man and guitar and harmonica, and some heartfelt songs along the way.

Folk rock and a touch of the blues, it's an enjoyable one man show much enjoyed the crowd. 'The Devil's Right Hand' is uptempo, while 'Dixieland' has more a bluegrass feel.

Enjoyable but hardly rock'n'roll.

**½

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
