SNOWBLIND ‘Snowblind’
Majestic Rock MAJCD036 (2004) (56:20)

Formed at the tail end of the NWoBHM, Snowblind played a very melodic metal with polished production and plenty of keyboards. Think Magnum (‘Chasing The Dragon’?), Rush and Grand Prix. The sort of music you could see Shy or Heavy Pettin’ wanting to follow.

The playing and song writing is strong, but the vocals don’t always match. Label boss Geoff Gillespie turned out to be a half decent bassist in those days too.

While some songs are rather poppy, ‘Now Is The Hour’ does feature some strong guitar work. Overall on the good side of a mixed bag.

The bonus tracks are four BBC sessions and these are probably stronger than anything on the original album, if for the attitude and production alone.

Originally issued on Mausoleum, this rare gem should please many.
