SHARK ISLAND Gathering The Faithful Frontiers FRCD292 (2006)

Formed by vocalist Richard Black and guitarist / pianist Spencer Sercombe as The Sharks as far back as 1979, this is solid melodic rock album.

'Blue Skies' is a catchy number with a nod at AOR. 'Tomorrow’s Child' kicks off acoustically. The bass a little heavy in the mix, and when the electric guitar comes in it’s quite funky.

Third track 'The Stranger' is a little heavier and a real standout. Well written melodic hard rock. Heavy, soulful, enjoyable.

***½

*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
