NIK TURNER Space Ritual 1994
Cherry Red CRDVD136(2006)
Hawkwind saxophonist...but where's Dik Mik?

From fronting Hawkwind and Inner City Unit, Nik Turner continues to space rock out. This psychedelic space trip is a real show, featuring a range of noises and some very weird hair styles and clothing.

Turner makes Peter Gabriel’s early 70s outings look positively sane, and his saxophone adds an extra dimension. Light shows and make up all round. Dancers too, but none quite like the original Stasia.

Opening track 'Ejection' was a single for fellow Hawk Robert Calvert. And amongst the large line-up is Del Dettmar, while Alan Powell and Genesis P-Orrige guest.

Stand out tracks include 'Master Of The Universe' and 'Silver Machine', both more psychedelic than the originals.

Bonus features too will please fans, but total running time of 105 minutes - could be longer.

***½
