LOCH VOSTOK Destruction Time Again
Escapi Music EMU20057 (2006)

Progressive extreme metal from Sweden may sound an interesting mix, well, it is, and pretty enjoyable too.

Both guitar and vocals switch from prog metal (Dream Theatre) to the power extreme of Black Emperor or Agent Steel. Opener Humantix features both deep growls and higher smooth clean vocals, and some layered keyboards add a polished feel.

It's a mixture that may sound strange but it works very well, a successful anomaly, extreme guitars and progressive keyboards working in an unusual way.

The power and aggression is obvious throughout the album, without sounding cluttered or too disjointed. Will attract new fans as well as please those who heard their debut.

***½
