JEZEBELLE 'Bad Attitude' Lemon CDLEM67 (2005)
Four girls playing heavy metal was nothing new, even back in 1989 when this
band formed. This sole album, released in 1991 to much acclaim (4 K’s in
Kerrang) and quickly deleted, gets a full reworking here. Kicking off with
“Burn”, it’s typical high paced Girlschool or Rock Goddess, with a nod
towards the sleaze end of glam. Should have been much bigger. Could have
been too.
“Ain’t No Lady” is more melodic, and ”Travel On Gypsy” has a decent chorus.
The music is good, a little muted in places, rough’n’ready in others. And a
suitably tacky cartoon cover. Well worth checking out, and with 2 bonus cuts
and 3 live videos, it’s a good package too. Shame the tracks run in a
different order to the track listing.
