HYADES Abuse Your Illusions Mausoleum 251074 (2005)

Abuse Your Ears would be a more accurate. Trad thrash mixed with Euro metal, a full on sonic assault.

Italian band Hyades have influences of Anthrax and Exodus, and the press release also mentions Artillery and Kreator but I’m not so sure.

But this definitely nods at East Coast trad thrash; you can hear tunes and guitar solos for a start. Not quite the finesse (or humour) of Anthrax but the element is certainly there. More intelligent (and intelligible) than Nu-Metal or grind-core. Relentless pace, pretty good too.

For the thrash fan it’s good listen and worth checking out, but not quite as approachable or mainstream as Anthrax. Better than most though.
