HELMET Monochrome DRT Entertainment (2006)

Thinking man’s metal from NY, which is far from stereotypical yet still in your face.

Opening number 'Swallowing Everything' takes in nu and grunge, and while the rhythmic riff and guitar solo are good, they clash horribly making the song sound disjointed. Perhaps a case of too much thought.

The album continues with some brutal rhythms and decent guitar work that just don’t seem to work together.

Innovative maybe, but only enjoyable in parts.

**½
