VARIOUS ‘Tribute to Guns N' Roses - An Uncivil War’
Mausoleum 251053(2004)

This is an interesting collection, apart from showing exactly how good the actual songs are that GníR wrote, it also leaves you with the thought that if they had not split the original line up- how good they could still be.

Saying that, there are some great versions of old favourites here. All the guitars are handled by ex GníR members Gilby Clarke and (original guitarist) Tracii Guns.

The surprise vocal here is Cinderella drummer Fred Coury doing a more than passable job on 'Itís so Easy', another great version is current Adlers Appetite singer (and ex Love/Hate and Ratt)Jizzy Pearl ripping his way through 'Sweet Child of Mine'. Christina Kartsonakis shows that a woman's voice works very well on 'Civil War', but with most singers sounding like their original bands covering a GníR song there is something here for most people.

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
