GROBSCHNITT The International Story
Revisited SPV305292CD / REV070 (2006)

Underground and pretty unique German prog, this collection us all largely unreleased material, mixing live versions and alternate versions / mixes.

Not the Kraut rock some German bands gave us, and not as fluid as Eloy's more conventional take on prog, this is some kind of disjointed bastard son of both.

The 53 minute Solar Music Berlin (no way was I going to listen to all of that in one sitting, if at all) has a few highlights that are very enjoyable but the live meanderings and wailings are just too much to handle.

The intros to the live songs sometimes sound rather chaotic, and the music isn't consistently that great.

I'm sure this is a great exploration if you're a fan, otherwise it's just too much hard work and in places quite pointless.

*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
