THE DOGS D'AMOUR ‘Heart Shape Skulls - Best Of 83-93’ WEA (2004)

The Dogs D’Amour are one of those bands you either love or you hate. Front man Tyla is one of those surviving sprirts of Rock ‘n’ Roll who drives his on-and-off band through the good times and the bad.

All the old favourites are here on this 21 track retrospective. A melting pot of glam, trash, The Faces, The Small Faces and a messy drug habit, the best tracks are 'Heroine', the latter day 'Mr Barfly' and 'What’s Happening Here'. There some glaringly obvious omissions, like the classic 'Satellite Kid' and the frighteningly good cover of the Small Faces’ 'All Or Nothing'. However, the promo videos for both these tracks are included on the accompanying 7-track DVD.

All in all a good package and a must have for die-hard fans or a good introduction to the band for those who don’t know much about them.

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
