DIVIDE ‘Liquid Mirrors/Redrawn’ (2005)

Three-piece UK based band consisting of vocalist/bassist Drew, guitarist Steve Alday and drummer Paul Thompson. They have released two EP’s - one studio, the other a live acoustic set recorded late last year. The four tracks on ‘Liquid Mirrors’ provide a brief glimpse of this band’s potential, Pearl Jam being the nearest comparison I could compare the music too.

Vocalist Drew has a strong voice - just listen to ‘Disturb The Water’ for proof - which is always important in defining and breaking a band. The acoustic set, ‘Re-drawn’ features two songs from the ‘Liquid Mirrors’ EP, both of which sound very different in an acoustic setting. Of the two CD’s I prefer the band ‘plugged in’ as this shows the band in a better light.

Definitely a band worthy of further investigation and they certainly have the song writing and playing duties tied-up nicely.

***½
