CJSS 2-4-1 (World Gone Mad / Praise The Loud)
Lion Music LMC178 (2006)

CJSS were an early / mid 80s metal band formed round the talents of guitar wizard David T Chastain. This 2-on-1 set covers 2 1986 albums, World Gone Mad and Praise The Loud.

The riffs are spectacular, the solos are more so. Some of it almost neo classical (great but not quite UJ Roth standard), it's good quality mid 80s metal.

'Hell On Earth' is a good opener, and there's a good cover of Zeppelin's 'Communication Breakdown' (despite poor recording quality). Some blistering guitar work but sadly vocalist Russell Jinkens isn't quite Robert Plant.

Praise The Loud had better production, and was clearly an influence on both big hair and thrash genres. A wall of sound in places, more intricate in others.

First time on CD in Europe, fans will love, guitar fans should explore.

***½
