CAVIER ‘The Thin Mercury Sound’
Aezra 8299 5 51021 22 (2005)

Cavier are a young rock/pop band with indie leanings. Think Blur, Dandy Warhols and the Flaming Lips and you kind of get an idea.

Opener 'Clean Getaway' is a pleasant guitar-led piece that could easily be a single. 'Lioness' follows and is more upbeat, with deeper vocals.

There’s a very clean sound throughout which will appeal to most, but not quite enough substance to really grab you and drag you through a hedge backwards, and that’s what you almost feel it needs.

If this gets any mainstream airplay, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be highly successful though.

***** Out of this world | **** Pretty damn fine |
*** OK, approach with caution unless you are a fan |
** Instant bargain bin fodder | * Ugly. Just ugly
