BYZANTINE And They Shall Take Up Serpents
Prosthetic 10024-2 (2005)

Old school thrash. Touches of speed, but good old thrash. Brutal, heavy, honest. The kind that makes Metallica look like The Wombles.

The pounding bass and drums in the opener “Justicia” back the excellent guitar work well. Vocals rough, shouting, may be too much for most, but the deeper growls suit the music well.

“Jeremiad” is rather disjointed in comparison, despite the injections of clean vocals and guitar.

Some nice riffs in “Ancestry Of The Antichrist” make for a decent listen.

I’m not the world’s greatest thrash expert, so I don’t know what else to say, but for the extreme end it’s better than many I’ve heard.
