This is the debut album from Sep7ember who are billed as a “rapidly rising new German melodic punk band”. With this information, I was expecting some high octane pop punk in the mould of Green Day but instead I got what sounds like a Bush tribute act.

Having said that, it’s not all bad as the band are rather good at what they do, it just ain’t punk ! Album opener ‘ View Into Blur’ sets the tone and from the off the Bush comparison is evident with good twin guitar work from Guido Dobrautz and Bernd Siedler and a staccato vocal delivery from Boris Pillmann. Next up is the rocker ’I Hate NY’ which is one of the album’s better tracks, adding what sounds like a bit of Placebo to the mix . Other notable tracks are ‘Rocket To Somewhere’ and ‘ Gods Are Laughing’ but try as I might I couldn’t find any punk influence no matter how hard I listened

So maybe a bit of false advertising on the bands biog, but a solid enough release from the 5 piece that should secure Sep7ember a decent level of success in their chosen field, maybe they pogo when they play live ??
