31 years since the band was formed, and 21 years since the release of their last album, ”Delirium”, Wratchchild have released their 4th album “Stakkattakktwo”, and with vocalist Gaz Psychwrath taking the place of Rocky Shades, the band really are firing on all cylinders.

Wrathchild were formed in the UK in 1980 and were well ahead of other bands over here in the glam metal stakes. Their new album manages to combine the best elements of 1970’s British glam rock with those of the 1980’s US glam rock- a perfect example of this being the track (or trakk as they are called here) “I Luv The Nite”.

“All About U” is another all out ‘70’s style affair, “Cherie Cherie” has a slight KISS feel to the vocals, whilst “Trikk or Treat” has big harmonies and some rather tongue in cheek lyrics. Other highlights include “White Hot Fever” and “I’ll Be Your Rokk n’ Roll”. The album is closed by the piano led ballad “Psychophantic Suicide”.

Wrathchild will appeal to anyone who likes bands such as Alice Cooper, KISS, Motley Crue, etc but they will also pick up fans of bands like Def Leppard as melodically “Stakkattakktwo” is very strong. There will no doubt be people out there who mock this genre of rock music but this album should be listened to before you make an opinion.
