I was tempted to write “the most authentic Guns n Roses record since “Appetite For Destruction”” but that really doesn’t do Aesthesia’s newly released second album “Shattered Idols” the justice that it deserves. Yes this album is the closest thing I have heard to Axl Rose and the classic era Gn’R but the band are carving out a career of their own.

Based in Paris, Aesthesia have perfectly recreated that sleazy sound of the mid to late ‘80’s and this album is literally dripping with attitude, packed with great tracks and is about to spend the next few months in my car stereo.

There are no filler tracks on “Shattered Idols” and highlights include the slower “Daydream”, “Rattlesnake Preacher”, “Hoodoo Queen”, “Under 16” (featuring ex-Hardcore Superstar guitarist Thomas Silver) and “Lyna Red”- the latter track having the feel of the link between Hanoi Rocks and “Appetite For Destrucrion”.

Don’t be put off by the comparisons to Guns n Roses, “Shattered Idols” is a great album and I look forward to seeing the band live.
