AMBITION Ambition Frontiers FRCD271 (2006)

Ambition

A straight ahead and thoroughly enjoyable melodic rock set, with some strong vocals from Thom Griffin. Guitars from Tommy Denander are excellent, running up scales neatly. Bassist Fabrizio V.Zee Grossi adds some decent rhythms and supplies keyboards too. Touches of 80s metal but stronger, less clichéd and more reliant on melody than make-up.

Some tracks slow down and add a ballad feel. 'Hypocrites' kicks off like that but picks up to a strong rock track, then down again.

'Shaping Fate & Destiny' is another track worth checking out. In fact the whole album is worth spinning a few times. With the heavy end of Toto thrown in, it’s catchy and pretty good.

***½
