When do you mostly listen to GRTR! Radio? (Feb-June 2009)
Eleanor McEvoy secured
a big label contract in the late 1990s but then fell out of favour with Sony and
decided to go it alone. She has followed a single-minded path since 2001's 'Yola'
and never looked back. David Randall asks Eleanor about her wider career history
as well as her new album, 'Love Must Be Tough', released in June 2008.
Recently signed to UK
label DR2, Hydrogyn caused a stir with their second album 'Bombshell' in 2007,
not least for its graphic cover imagery. David Randall quizzes the band's singer
Julie Westlake about that imagery and the new album released in June 2008.
Tipped as 'ones to
watch' in 2008 by Classic Rock magazine, their debut album has been remixed by
Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica). GRTR! caught up with them at the start of their
UK tour in April.
GRTR! Rising Stars
Grace Solero released their debut album 'New Moon' in 2007 and have received
glowing feedback. A new single is released in May and the band are supporting
this with several dates.
Featuring four members of the original - and highly
regarded - Karnataka line-up, Panic Room's debut album is released in April when
they play a short promotional tour in the UK. David Randall talks to Jon
Edwards.
McQueen's debut album was released in January 2007 and
they recently secured a support on the opening dates of the Velvet Revolver UK
tour before they jetted off to Australia for a tour with Finnish band Him. David
Randall asks them about Fanny, and hears about their future plans.
Charlie Dominici 11.03.08 (Broadcast 16 March 2008)
Charlie was the original Dream Theater vocalist and
appeared on their debut album in 1989. In April, the third and final part of his
trilogy is released under the name Dominici and featuring his band with members
drawn from Italy and Switzerland.
Doogie has appeared on many a melodic hard rock album
since the late eighties. He's perhaps best known for his time in Rainbow
(1995-1997) and more recently with Swedish rock guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen with
whom he made two albums - in 2002 ('Attack') and 2005 ('Unleash The Fury').
Doogie recently announced his split from the Malmsteen
band, and he tells David Randall more about that and his illustrious career,
which also includes the bands Cornerstone and Empire.
Steve fronts The Storys, a highly-regarded harmony and
song-driven band that have drawn comparisons with The Eagles and Crosby, Stills,
Nash & Young.
Steve has also had an interesting solo career, playing
lead in the West End version of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and releasing an album
on Sony in 2002.
Tina is the Danish singer-songwriter who has achieved great success in her
homeland and with her fourth album (Count To Ten), released in February 2008, is
poised to gain a wider audience.
David Randall points out that Magnum reached their 35th
anniversary in 2007 - and Bob's own career spans 40 years plus. A look back at
the year, and the year ahead with the release of the double-CD 'Wings Of Heaven
Live'.
