AMON AMARTH busy with song writing plus three new festivals confirmed
Swedish Viking heroes AMON AMARTH have issued the following update: "Back from a
two-week vacation we've continued working on new songs for our upcoming release.
We have a handful of great songs already, soon-to-be AMON AMARTH classics, and
we still have plenty of great song ideas." AMON AMARTH is scheduled to enter
Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden in May with producer Jens Bogren to
begin recording its new album for a fall 2008 release via Metal Blade Records.
In other news AMON AMARTH have confirmed a few more festival appearances. "We
are proud to announce that we will do our very first appearance in Serbia this
summer. The show will take place at the Castle Festival on July 4. We are also
happy to announce that we will be appearing at this years Lorca Rock in Spain on
July 25." AMON AMARTH have replaced the now apparently defunct Swiss metal band
Celtic Frost on the billing of the Metalcamp festival, set to take place July
3-9, 2008 in Tolmin, Slovenia. Commented AMON AMARTH in a statement: "Despite
the unfortunate circumstance, we're happy to return to Tolmin."

BRAIN DRILL looking for new drummer
Northern Californian technical death metal outfit BRAIN DRILL will be carrying
on despite all the recent rumors of break ups. The band is currently looking for
a new drummer.

FATES WARNING video preview online
Metal Blade will release a special edition of FATES WARNING's 1989 LP "Perfect
Symmetry" on June, 13 (G/A/CH/I), June, 16 (rest of Europe).
The package will include:
* Remastered Audio
* A bonus disc of "Perfect Symmetry" demos
* DVD with over 120 minutes of live footage

"Perfect Symmetry" was recorded and mixed between April 1989 and May 1989 at
Carriage House Studios, Stamford, CT. The CD was produced by Roger Probert for
Major Productions and was mixed by Phil Magnotti and Max Norman. It was the

VOMITORY in song writing mode / record contract extension
VOMITORY have started songwriting for the next album which is going to be
recorded in April of 2009. "We have 3-4 songs finished already and it feels
great", states drummer Tobias Gustaffsson. Possible release date for another
atom bomb of Death Metal is May 2009.
In other news VOMITORY have extended their contract with Metal Blade Records for
another four albums. Comments Tobias Gustafsson: "We are happy and proud to have
signed a new deal with Metal Blade Records Europe. After doing four successful
albums out of our six together with Metal Blade, it was no doubt that we wanted
to continue working with them. Obviously, they like the way we deliver our death
metal and we have no plans on letting them down on that from now on either!"

FALCONER announce title of upcoming album
Yet another frequent update from the FALCONER camp! The new album is entitled
'Among Beggars And Thieves' and will be mixed in the end of May in the Sonic
Train Studios. The release date is set to the end of August.
This time around FALCONER will also be shooting a video clip for the song
'Carnival Of Disgust'.
Apart from the new album 2008 will be a year off for FALCONER. The band will be
a bit more active again in 2009 when they will try to do a bunch of live shows
again.

GOREROTTED change band name to THE ROTTED
The UK's GOREROTTED have decided to take the big step of changing their name to
THE ROTTED! Having worked so hard on their new album 'Get Dead Or Die Trying',
the lads felt that due to the huge progression they've made from previous
releases musically and lyrically and after frequent line-up changes that this
was the only right thing to do.
Says frontman Ben McCrow: "The motives behind what we were doing with Gorerotted
have changed over the years, and as a mark of respect for what we achieved, for
previous band members and for fans, we didn't feel it was right to continue
under our previous monicker. This album is gonna blow people away, I couldn't
even classify it for you if I tried, all I can say is its heavy as fu*k, catchy
as hell and a piece of work we're all incredibly proud of. People have been
affectionally refering to us as THE ROTTED for some time now, so it seemed like
a decent change to us."

TESTAMENT - Nominated for Golden Gods Awards!
The Formation of Damnation, the crushing new release from thrash metal heroes
Testament, has been nominated for Best Album at this year's Metal Hammer Golden
Gods Awards. The awards ceremony will take place at the O2 Arena in London on
Monday, June 16, where Testament will be performing LIVE, along with Disturbed,
In Flames, and Children Of Bodom.
Metal Maniacs calls the album, "Freshly brutal and heroically nostalgic…The
culmination of a decade of dedication and perseverance for the Bay Area Kings;

Mayhem - The End of an Era
We're really sorry to announce that MAYHEM guitarist / songwriter Blasphemer has
decided to leave the band. Here's the musician's comment:
"It is with these written words that I hereby retract myself from my position as
the guitar player of Mayhem.
The main reason behind this conclusion lies in the fact that I simply don't see
any future for me in the band anymore, at least not a future I'd like to
participate in over the coming years. I've been playing my part in the band now
for more than 13 years already, having composed, produced and released several
albums with great vision, dedication and craftsmanship, to arrive at this
crossroad of opposites. Sooner or later, all things comes to an end, and in my
case, this circle is complete.
For some of you this might not come as the biggest surprise, as I've clearly
stated in several interviews that I was not sure what the next step would be.
These "hints" were partly rooted in the fact that our latest album fulfilled all
of the expectations, visions and aspects of negativity that I felt I wanted to
express with this band, and also, of similar importance, that I felt tired of
both the touring aspects, amidst its turbulence and personal differences, and
also my role in the band.
It has been a dark, devoted and spellbinding journey, and as some beings and
entities develop, others remain the same. I've developed my essence. No
questions. However, the legacy of MAYHEM will / must always remain what it
always has been, and I wish to thank all parts involved and to wish them all the
best for the future. I also would like to thank my followers over the years,
from "Wolf's Lair..." to "Ordo...", my vision has been clear. I'm also sure the
band will continue with a respectful formation, and that an eventual album will
be placed "up there", where it (should) belong.
I have now personally chosen to focus on other paths in terms of creativity and
vision. My "child of heart" AVA INFERI has already a busy schedule for the
future and our third album is being crafted as we speak. I will also re-surface
with new will and blood in a future extreme project. You have not heard the last
of me, on the contrary. It's all about to begin.
Note that the few already scheduled shows will go on as planned WITH me.

Enemy Rose: Belgium's Finest!
Get ready for the band that will take you by surprise and rock your girlfriend's
panties, from the darkest corners in your mind comes ENEMY ROSE! Influenced by
bands such as THE STONES, THE CLASH, DEAD BOYS, STOOGES and HANOI ROCKS these
boys do not make any compromises... LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT! Formed in the summer of
2005 by Tommy X and Sammy DiMera from THE HEARTACHES who joined forces with
Sugar Martellotto, a young and very talented drummer with a lust for rock n'
roll completed by Ponzy from SMASH MY RADIO on bass and Spinal Steve from SMOOTH
LEE on guitars.
Nowadays rock 'n' roll has lost most of it's colors - spirit and authenticity
and traded it in for a ticket to five minutes of fame. When most bands are only
looking for the right outfit and worry bout the songs later, we are pleased to
announce the coming of ENEMY ROSE!
With no time to waste they started playing and when word got out the crowd got
bigger and bigger and soon afterwards they signed to I Scream Records, the
mission was to conquer the world, hit the stages and record an album. So far
they have released a split album with the Mercy Killers on I Scream Records.
Now it's time for their debut full length - which was produced by US Bomb's
Kerry Martinez also renounced lead singer guitarist for the Bad Luck Charms -
entitled "PROMISES WE'LL NEVER KEEP". It is sure to go down very well in those
countries that embrace their history of ROCK 'N' ROLL!!! Keep your eyes open and
beware of the enemy coming your way!
The Bad Luck Charms
The term Rock n Roll comes from the ghetto slang, meaning sex, in the back of an
automobile, hence, rock n roll.
Well...The Bad Luck Charms are exactly that!! Slimy, Sleazy, Dirty Rock n Roll
at it's finest!! Spawned from the attics and basements of old Kiss dolls,
comics, Chuck Berry records, and Monster magazines. These electric cartoons
straight outta Brooklyn New Yawk are fueled by the syringe sound of The
Heartbreakers, tongue in cheek of Hanoi and The Stones and all the snot of the
Dead Boys!!! This cast is made up of Kerry Martinez, on vox and guitar, who also
plays guitar for U.S Bombs.
Kerry has been performing and touring extensively on
the World Wide circuit for a number of years. He has also produced many bands
and has worked with such greats as, Wayne Kramer (MC 5), and Lars Fredrickson
(Rancid) to name a few...and now, has his own guitar coming out soon, on Sparrow
Guitars!! Brian Knott is on guitar/vox and has ripped his way through the New
York City circuit playing some short stints with The Nuns, Molotov Cocktail and
The Stiff Mickys. M
ax A. Million is a new addition to the Bad Luck Charms on
bass guitar/vox and is quickly carving his name in the rock of the music world.
Last but not least, Brenden "the deal" Van Meir on drums, and vox, formerly with
the late Nick Hawkins of (B.A.D.) completes the B.L.C. quartet!! There's gonna
be a whole lot of shakin,goin on!!! So, lock up your booze, your daughters, your
mothers, your sisters and your medicine cabinets, like it or not, were comin' to
your town!!!

Death and Taxes
Death & Taxes was formed in 2005 in the wake of the highly successful reunion
show of Boston street rock band The Bruisers by original Bruisers
songwriter/guitarist Jeff Morris and new bassist Mike Savitkas along with Steve
Toland on drums. Morris spent nine years in the Bruisers alongside current
Dropkick Murphys singer Al Barr honing his street rock songwriting skills and
the Death & Taxes debut cd "Tattooed Hearts & Broken Promises" is the result of
all those years spent on the road, in the studio and onstage.
The sound and
production value of the recording are world class thanks to the work of engineer
Jim Siegel who has worked with the Dropkick Murphys, The Unseen, Blood for Blood
and many more successful bands. With the musical impact of Social Distortion and
the lyrical impact of Westerberg meets Springsteen this recording crosses over
in appeal to fans of punk, roots rock and insurgent country such as Lucero,
Bright Eyes and Steve Earle.
Post-punk audiences gravitate to the stories told
in Morris's songs, from friends lost to drug overdose to teenage suicide and
even the murder of a close friend. The truth and honesty in the lyrics shine
through on every track and is propelled by the high level of musicianship
throughout. Musically these songs appeal to rockers, twangers and punkers alike
with Morris slinging his signature Gretsch hollowbody guitar, belting out lyrics
that every listener can identify with alongside Savitkas on his scruffy old
Fender Precision Bass and Toland on his vintage Ludwig drums.

The bands first release for Subsound Records. Released in Feb 2008 this album
sees a variety of genres covered and possibly some not even discovered yet. An
eclectic collection of influences swinging from Mazurkas to Death Hip-Hop, from

In the bands own words "Nonlinear.system.theory hail from the suburban bars of

Kärtsy Hatakka of Waltari to produce next Silentium album
Recording sessions for the next SILENTIUM album is booked and scheduled starting
with choir (Jyväskylä Female Choir) and orchestral parts. The band's effort will
be taped during the summer. The producer for the next album is the multitalented
main man of Waltari, Kärtsy Hatakka. Sami Boman shares his thoughts: "I'm truly
excited about the opportunity to work with Kärtsy. He's incredibly innovative
and unbiased approach to music makes him second to none. He's able to recognize
the bearing thoughts behind SILENTIUM's music, whether it's a fragile and
delicate stream of sound and atmosphere, or an immense and downright brutal
sound mass. We all admire and appreciate the commitment he affiliated this
project with, the instant flow of ideas was a most pleasant surprise for us all.

HACKNEYED - Sign with Nuclear Blast
Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the signing of south German death metal
maniacs HACKNEYED.
These five youngsters are just as convincing as MORBID ANGEL must have been when
they released their first album back in the day. Not only is the band already a
bright star in the sky of extreme metal but is also the youngest band Nuclear
Blast has signed ever since. Probably HACKNEYED are also the youngest death
metal act on the planet as the average age of the band members is just 16 years
(guitarist Devin being just 14 years old!), but already shredding and grooving

Being founded in early 2007 the band has already achieved to play an amount of

HAMMERFALL - New guitarist announced
Pontus Norgren from THE POODLES will be replacing Stefan Elmgren, who left
HAMMERFALL in early April to focus on his new career as a pilot. Pontus is a
fantastic guitar player with musical roots in ACCEPT and neo Classical Metal,
comments drummer Anders Johansson. I have known him for many years, I know how
he works as a musician and as a person.
I like HAMMERFALL, I think they have amazing stage shows and I like their songs,
so when I heard they were looking for a guitar player I thought I'd give it a
try, says Pontus. Playing with THE POODLES has been a wonderful experience in
many ways, but I have always liked a little heavier music and have felt at times
that this wasn't the right kind of forum for the music I'd most like to play.
It's simply time to move on. Replacing Stefan is not easy, he has a very
characteristic way of playing and is a great guitarist, explains singer Joacim
Cans, currently a part of Swedens TV4's Körslaget.
But Pontus will add a
different style than Stefan since they are two quite different persons. I'm
looking forward to see how we will mesh as a band during the coming months! At
the moment, HAMMERFALL has a scheduled gig in Montreal, Canada, in June, and in
July the recordings of a new studio album will begin. Late June will also see
the release of a cover album (Masterpieces) and a DVD (Rebels With A Cause -
Unruly, Unrestrained, Uninhibited), and the first full-length album with the new
line-up is planned for February 2009.

MELTDOWN - Sign with Nuclear Blast
Thrash is definitely back on track - and we're not talking about some modern
hype bullsh*t! We're talking about good old Thrash back from the days when
METALLICA literally turned the Metal scene upside down by setting the
cornerstone for a new movement and new standards in meaning of heaviness, speed
and sonic brutality. So do MELTDOWN in times where fashion and polished clean
vocals rule the business - well, of course they do not set new standards and so
on, but they do take the Metal community back to early 1980, thrashing Metal mad
like hell!
Being still young, angry and possessed by old school Metal, MELTDOWN from Los
Angeles, California were immediately signed to Nuclear Blast when the label's
officials first heard their demo of 2007!

new, fresh & very promising young band: MELTDOWN are just killer! This young
band ´s old school Thrash sounds fresher than it did ever before by a band of

Swedish modern metallers SONIC SYNDICATE, who were currently being confirmed to

BENEDICTION - Killing Music is recorded!
Long-running UK Extreme Metallers BENEDICTION have finished the recordings for
their new album, Killing Music.
Comment from the band: Well, that's it. We've recorded everything and now we
have to let go of it. It is in the more than capable hands of the producer, Mick
Kenney of ANAAL NATHRAKH infamy. If you can imagine the crispness of the "Grind
Bastard" album with the ferocity of ANAAL NATHRAKH on a disc then you will get
the idea of what is to come.
A lot of beer, football, hospitals, pubs, curries,
kebabs, kitkats and crisps went into the making of 'Killing Music'! Thanks to
everyone who popped in on the recording sessions to give support and drink our
free beer! We look forward to hearing the finished product once Mick has weaved
his ginger magic on our baby.

MNEMIC - To support METALLICA again
Danish Modern Metal band MNEMIC has been added to two dates on METALLICA's
European summer tour: May 28th at Slaski Stadium in Chorzow, Poland, and June
3rd at Slavia Stadium in Prague, Czech Republic.
Here's a statement from guitar player Mircea Gabriel Eftemie: We are beyond
thrilled and more than happy to be heading out with the mighty METALLICA this
summer! Again! We are excitedly looking forward to this wonderful opportunity,
that we have been given, and can't wait to blast some MNEMIC waves for y'all.
I
can only say that we consider this event a true privilege specially to be
invited by Lars and METALLICA, and we can not be thankful enough!
On top of all of this, I will be celebrating my birthday on the 3rd of June, the
same day we will be sharing the stage...I truly couldn't have asked for a better

TURISAS - TURISAS TO TOUR WITH DRAGONFORCE
With a phenomenal start to 2008 after the incredibly successful second
headlining UK tour as well as their first and as successful European headlining
run with labelmates NORTHER, TURISAS have confirmed that they will once again be
gracing these shores after having been confirmed as main support on the autumn
tour with UK heroes Dragonforce.
Warlord Nygard had the following to say on the forthcoming tour "We just made it
back from a very successful European tour which included an impressive 13 dates
in the UK. We were really surprised how amazing the turnout was, with many of
the UK shows selling out, considering we had only played one of the cities
before. The crowds were crazy and now we're extremely pleased that we're able to
come back in autumn to do it all over again.
We're joining up with Dragonforce
on their UK tour and this something we're already hugely looking forward to. We
are also extra excited about the shows in Ireland, which will be our first ones
on the island that we've been unfortunate enough to miss out on previous tours.
As you can imagine, Olli is sharpening his bow already as his one-man mission is
about to reach its climax ... All in all, it's going to be a great package
no-one should miss out on. Right now we're just about to head out on a voyage to
begin our assault on the US as part of the Paganfest .. so we'll either see you
at the summer festivals or in the autumn"

MELTDOWN - Tales from the studio crypt
Thrash Metal's new blood MELTDOWN have just sent an update from Andy Classen's
Stage One Studio where they are in the middle of the recording of their debut
album Executioner.
Guitarist & vocalist Dan Wetmore: Hey everyone, we're here in Stage One Studio
recording our debut album, coming out on Nuclear Blast entitled Executioner.
Right now Adam is finishing up drum tracks and we're hoping to start recording
rhythm as soon as possible.
It's great to be working with someone like Andy Classen who has experience in
recording metal. So far everything sounds really brutal. When we're not pumping
out tracks, we're fu*king around and gorging ourselves on beer and Nutella.
Being in Germany kicks ass!

PAIN - Re-sign with Nuclear Blast
The ink on the contract hasn't dried yet and we can already proudly report the
return of Nuclear Blast-veteran Peter Tägtgren and his Industrial Metal band
PAIN!
After more than ten years have been passing by since the release of the
self-titled PAIN debut on Nuclear Blast, the Swedish mastermind and
HYPOCRISY-main man is already busy working on his comeback album that is
scheduled for a release in October 2008. PAIN have also just returned from an
immensely successful European tour as a support act for NIGHTWISH, which lead
them through 18 countries and was being witnessed by approximately 150.000
people. Welcome home, Peter!
GOTTHARD - Have to go on tour without injured bass player Marc
As bass player Marc Lynn can ´t play his instrument due to an accident with his
motorbike, GOTTHARD have to hit the road for the next couple of weeks without
him. An Italian bassist will replace Marc until he is able to play again.
Last weekend, Marc Lynn was brought to a Swiss hospital after breaking several
bones in an accident with his motorbike. Nevertheless, Marc has kept his humour:
"The broken leg is not that bad - but the broken thumb is not such a nice thing
for a bass player."
Though Marc can ´t play the next weeks, GOTTHARD will play all announced shows
in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Switzerland.

MISERY SIGNALS PREMIERE NEW SONG "WEIGHT OF THE WORLD" ON MYSPACE
NEW ALBUM CONTROLLER OUT JULY 21st
MISERY SIGNALS will premiere "Weight Of The World" from their upcoming
full-length 'CONTROLLER' on MySpace today.
Speaking on the song bassist Kyle Johnson relates:
"It was the first song we recorded for the new album and it's a different song
for us, it's little angrier, faster and actually the shortest song clocking in
at a little over two minutes."
Vocalist Karl Schubach adds"
"It was the first song we tracked and Devin (Townsend, Producer) had me run
through the entire song once just to get down the idea of where I wanted to go.
He told me that I nailed it right off the bat and we ended up keeping most of it
as the finished version. The song itself is about deciding whether you should
tell someone what you really think and get it off of your chest or take the high
road and let them think that they are right. That situation can really blow up."
The band recorded the entire album with Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad,
Devin Townsend Band) who was at the helm of the band's 2004 debut Of Malice and
The Magnum Heart. Since wrapping up recording in March, the band have finished a
European Run, which sold out most of the dates.
Misery Signals have just started a US tour supporting As I Lay Dying.

AMON AMARTH Confirmed For DOWNLOAD Festival
AMON AMARTH were today confirmed to play DOWNLOAD 2008, which takes place at
Donington Park, Leicestershire between June 13th - 15th.
AMON AMARTH will join Metal Blade label mates JOB FOR A COWBOY and THE BLACK
DAHLIA MURDER who are already on the bill.
AMON AMARTH are currently writing new songs for the highly anticipated follow up
to 2006's 'WITH ODEN ON OUR SIDE' album.
The band are scheduled to enter Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden in
May with producer Jens Bogren to begin recording their, as yet untitled, new
album for an Autumn 2008 release on Metal Blade Records.
