MACHINEMADE GOD - line-up change + news/live update!

'What’s up everyone?

First of all: A late 'Happy New Year', hope you had a kick-ass start into 2007!
It’s been a while since we spread some news so here’s a quick update about what’s going on in MMG-Land. After several discussions, Machinemade God and guitarist Holger Kiparski decided to part ways. We thank him for his effort and the good times we had with him in the past four years and wish him all the best for his future!
But don’t worry, MMG keeps going on and a replacement is already found in Marc Niedersberg, who fits perfectly into the band.

With this new and strong line-up we’re hitting the road in February for a short headlining tour together with our friends in Deadsoil and Koroded. Other dates for 2007, such as SUMMER BREEZE FESTIVAL are confirmed as well and there is a lot more in the works, so keep checking the show/tour section on our page or on Metal Blade frequently.

Besides that we will be entering the studio again in March to record our second album, but more details about the record some other time.

Those who can’t wait for the new material should visit our upcoming shows, we might play new stuff.'´

SONATA ARCTICA - Mixing the new album

Finnish melodic metallers SONATA ARCTICA have begun mixing their new album at Finnvox studio in Helsinki. "There is not much more I can say about the music," keyboardist Henkka Klingenberg writes on the group's web site.

"Generally I feel that trying to describe music with words is basically like having someone telling the radio news by playing a piano can't win, and will definitely not know what's going on. Odd enough? Nevertheless, the stuff sounds really great. This is actually the first time we hear all the elements together, one of the drawbacks of using a zillion studios." Read more HERE!

AGATHODAIMON - Search for vocalist/guitarist

After the tour through Spain and Portugal in late November (some pics from the tour can be seen at the website of AGATHODAIMON HERE), vocalist/guitarist Frank "Akaias" Nordmann revealed that he will leave the band due to personal reasons. "This decision was not easy for him, but Frank has priorities other than music at the moment.

Music means much to all of us, but it's not everything that counts in life, sometimes other things are more important, and we understand his decision fully. We collectively wish him all the best for his future plans and thank him for the great time we spent together in the rehearsal room, on stage and of course off stage as well", said guitarist Sathonys.

The band is therefore looking for a new vocalist and guitarist. A few very promising musicians already contacted the band, so interested people (from Germany, area FFM/WI/DA/MZ preferred) should hurry and send their info over

Meanwhile, the work on the upcoming album (entitled PHOENIX) continues.

We are all hugely excited about the new material, and as soon as the EP is available you'll be the first to know about it. Now go check out the new material and add yourself to our friend list if you haven't already! Go Go Go!! Now!!

IN FLAMES - US break through

As one of the very few European bands IN FLAMES can celebrate a big success in the USA. Recently the band has sold their 100.000th copy of 'Soundtrack To Your Escape'. It ´s the second album of the band that could sell that much. Congratulations!

CHIMAIRA - DVD details / win meet & greet

METAL HAMMER and ROSSIGNOL Pure Mountain Company invite five readers of METAL HAMMER Magazine for skiing with CHIMAIRA in a ski-region of Allgäu / South Germany on the 27th of January. After that, the party goes on at the Barfly Club in Sonthofen where the METAL HAMMER Hellfest After-Ski-Party takes place. The band will also do a signing session right before the Hellfest DJs start spitting the best noises! Click HERE for more information!

In other news the band has issued the following update: "So I had the opportunity to watch the DVD that is going to come with the special edition of "Resurrection" last night. I am blown away by the work Todd and Nick did on this thing. We didn't set out to make a sequel to "The Dehumanizing Process", but it's pretty much what happened... in a sense.

There is no live footage because we are not on tour yet! The movie runs a little over an hour in length and is packed with... laughs... yes, I said laughs. It's almost a comedy. It reflects who we are now though, and that’s six happy dudes stoked to be playing together again and making the music we are making. I highly suggest if you are fan of the first DVD to pick up the special edition because you truly won't be disappointed.'

HAMMERFALL - European tour to kick off soon

HAMMERFALL´s "Threshold"-tour, starting on January 18th, seems to become another chapter of success. Numerous shows have been sold out or almost sold out so far. The first concerts will take place in Scandinavia, afterwards the band is about to hit Germany soon for a couple of dates. The last chance for Germans to see the guys will be the show in Kaufbeuren ´s "All-Kart Halle" on February 3rd.

AFTER FOREVER - Earthshaker Roadshock Tour 2007

A few months before the EARTHSHAKER Festival 2007 begins, a couple of bands will tour over Europe under the Earthshaker Roadshock banner.

Next to AFTER FOREVER, the billing also includes TAROT, DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER, FINNTROLL, MACHINE MEN and ALL ENDS. The new TAROT record "Crows Fly Black" will be released on the 19th of January. Check all dates HERE!

NIGHTWISH - Singer auditions have ended

Finnish symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH have posted the following message on their official web site: "The auditions for the new vocalist have ended, with more than 2,000 demos sent to us (yesterday, Jan. 15, we received 120 demos!). A big thanks to everybody! So please don't send anymore demos, since now we need to concentrate on finishing the album recordings. The new vocalist will be announced at the end of May, together with the release of a new single."

DISILLUSION - Line-up change

To make a long story short, Jens Maluschka, drummer in DISILLUSION since 2000, decided to quit the band at the beginning of the new year. It is sad to separate after six years of dreaming and working together for an idea.
Jens wishes to say the following:

'After six years of intensive work with DISILLUSION it is time for a break. There are various reasons. I want to concentrate more on my private life, meaning I will become a father in June of this year. At that time I wish to focus on my family. So, the decision has been made to leave the band. Of course, my musical endeavours will continue - but I can't decide yet exactly in which from.

I wish Andy and Rajk all the best for their future and lots of success with Disillusion.'
So, the two of us continue dreaming.

The final concert with Jens will be held at 'Scheddelspalter' in Leipzig/Germany on April 13, 2007 ( All following shows will definitely be held. News about Jens' replacement will follow in the near future. We already started trying out a few possible new drummers.
Anyway, a happy, healthy and successful New Year to all of you!

Akercocke bassist announces departure

Akercocke’s bassist Peter Theobalds has today announced his surprise departure from the band. This sudden news comes just as founding members Jason Mendonca and David Gray celebrate the band’s tenth anniversary this year.

Peter has said of his departure:

'It's been possibly the most difficult decision in my life to make but after 10 years of the beast that Akercocke has become, it's time to hit the highway in search of new adventures. My reasons are many and varied but the principal factor has been that the original vibe that drove me to play has gone, the fun, the utter immersion of the music and friendship and the camaraderie has been slowly eroding for me personally over the last year or so.

It’s given me so many unforgettable moments and brought me into contact with some amazing human beings and situations and I shall sincerely miss all of those aspects. But my heart tells me its time to seek other ideals and situation. I will NOT be giving up music however and will continue to bash out some form of pseudo metallic noise, until chronic rheumatoid arthritis turns my hands into claws or Alzheimer’s finally puts paid to what little common sense I currently possess.

Massive massive respect to all those people that have been so unbelievably supportive and encouraging: - my family, the fans, the crews, the bands and other random maniacs that have been there for me all the way. I’d love to do a thank you list but it would just be so long and I’d inevitably forget someone and get branded a total c*nt (again), so I’ll just say that I raise a glass to all of your honour!

See you in the pit dear friends.

Meanwhile, Akercocke continue and are pleased to announce Peter Benjamin (Concept, Corpsing, Pantheist) as their new bass player, as the band commence work on their fifth studio album at Goat of Mendes Studios London. The as yet untitled new album is slated for a May 14 2007 release on Earache Records.

CATARACT looking for new guitarist

All right, as we announced here's a little hint on what we're looking for. Of course it doesn't have to be a 100% coverage, we will discuss it as you write in, but make up your mind about these points. We're not just looking for someone who can play our songs, but for someone who brings his own style and wants to push our music further. We're not looking for someone with rock star dreams, but for someone who loves metal and hardcore as we do, who loves music and who is willing to kick ass with us. so here we go:

- experienced concerning playing in a band and on stage
- appropriate skills on the instrument of course
- you have your own ideas to add to our sound
- musical background can be as open minded as you want, but the main thing should be death/thrash metal alongside with the brutal end of hard- and metalcore.
- rehearsing 2x/week in Zurich

So let us hear about your vision and don't be shy!

Metal Blade signs HATE ETERNAL

I'm very please to announce that Metal Blade Records has just signed a world-wide deal with Death Metal Legends, Hate Eternal.

Formed in 1997, Hate Eternal's goal has always been to challenge musical limitations and create new boundaries with no compromise; to obtain goals aimed at by many yet reached by only a select few; to create music that not only defies all clichés, but that creates a true sense of power, dissonance and consonance, heaviness and speed, melody and brutality, simply put horrific hymns.

Guitarist Erik Rutan has crafted an impressive career by attaining that goal consistently for well over a decade with his legendary work in Ripping Corpse and Morbid Angel. Not to mention his other career as engineer/ producer for bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Soilent Green, Six Feet Under, Cellador, Vital Remains, Premonitions of War, Goatwhore and Into the Moat just to name a few, and the list goes on.

Metal Blade Records owner/CEO, Brian Slagel, had this comment:
"I am truly honoured to be working with Hate Eternal. They are a legendary band and I am so happy to welcome them to the Metal Blade Family." - Brian Slagel

Hate Eternal guitarist, Erik Rutan, had this to say regarding their signing:

"Signing to Metal Blade for us reconfirms that all the hard work, blood, sweat and tears we have put into the band has been worth every single moment. This is completely amazing. We know we will forge on with all the support and confidence a band can ask for from their record label. We are proud to be a part of the hugely successful Metal Blade Family and look forward to bringing our music to the next level." - Erik Rutan

Hate Eternal is currently in the writing process for the follow-up to their 2005 release "I, Monarch" that shall be recorded at Rutan's own Mana Recording Studios in June/July 2007.

After triumphantly headlining the annual Wacken Open Air festival in Germany and four capacity performances in America last summer, Norwegian black metal pioneers EMPEROR have announced their return to the United States for three encore appearances this spring.

"We have made a decision to return to the U.S. for a few additional shows," notes guitarist Samoth. "This time Chicago is also put on the map.

"The shows last summer were very successful and we had an amazing turnout and support from all the fans. It was also a bit stressful because of the embassy hassle that we unfortunately had to endure. So we feel a few more shows are due and this time, all visas are in order and the band will appear in its full command."

Confirmed dates are as follows:
30 - (US) The Metro - Chicago, IL
01 - (US) B.B. King Blues Club & Grill - New York, NY
03 - (US) Key Club - West Hollywood, CA
Ticket on-sale information will be announced shortly.

Advance APOCRYHAL VOICE track posted online

APOCRYHAL VOICE was born in 1999 out of Juhani Jokisalo's frustrations towards the state of metal music, the band he was in as the bassist, the society, the world, and the human existence itself. In the autumn of 2000 he and the drummer Ville Salonen entered a studio to record a demo consisting of 3 songs seething with hatred, lunacy, panic, and despair.

It took 3 years of waiting and experimenting in other musical projects until this demo, "The Sickening" was released as MCD through Rage Of Achilles Records. The short co-operation ended with the label's faith in being able to sell the music. Something that just might be the world record of commercial flop. Now, before transcending into worlds of higher plane, more disgust and anti-manifesto against this sickening common world of ours needs to be expressed.

A small, symbolical death must be performed. And this will come in the shape of the album "Stilltrapped". Thematically this album is dwelling in depression, captivity, and death. Musically it's more diverse extending from actually memorable structures to scary avant-noise experiments, and calmer in a way of expressing a prisoner's suppressed rage in shackles or total living emptiness. All this performed in trademark Apocryphal Voice poly chords and emotional vocals. Or if you insist in having the description to be put in another way... "Stilltrapped" lies somewhere in the wide and hazy area between Burzum and Nick Cave.

An advance track entitled "Lifeless" from APOCRYHAL VOICE's new album "Stilltrapped" has been posted on Candlelight's Myspace. Check it out!

BRAINSTORM re-issues coming!

Metal Blade Records Europe will re-issue the first two BRAINSTORM albums „Hungry' and „Unholy' with tons of bonus material!
Both albums will be released the 23rd of March (G/A/S) / 26th of March (Europe).
Both albums (2CD Double-Digipacks) will be available for the price of a regular CD!

Here´s what Torsten Ihlenfeld (guitar) has to say about the packages as well as the complete tracklisting!

„When we played our tour for ‚Liquid Monster’ we realised after a few glasses of Wine that in 2007 it would be ten years since the release of our debut album 'Hungry'. Besides the typical wining around how fast time flies by, etc… we also came up with something creative.

Why not re-releasing the debut album as well as it´s successor 'Unholy'? Both records were not available anymore for quite some time and the timing seemed perfect to us. No new album in 2007, but two re-issues of our first two albums. Of course we didn´t just want to re-release the albums in it´s original version and after searching the archives, we found some really cool bonus material to include. Next up it was clear that we wanted to remaster both albums and even re-mix the "Hungry" album if in anyway possible - and we did!!! This is definitely the best possible sound you can get of the first two BRAINSTORM albums! Compare it to the originals which are included as a bonus in the very same package(s).'

Both albums will as well include renewed front art and booklets!

'About the bonus material (remastered as well!) - The 'Hungry' album includes our '5th Season demo' from 1994 with six songs and a running time of 30 minutes. This demo gives you the chance to travel to the very early days of the band and yes, we are still very proud of the demo and quite satisfied with it! 'Unholy' includes two demos, 'Heart Of Hate' from 1993 and the 'Promo 96' demo, plus the original Japanese bonus track of 'Unholy'. 5 songs in total clocking in after 25 minutes.'

'We as a band celebrate the first decade of BRAINSTORM releases with these re-issues and we hope you guys out there enjoy these albums as much as we still do!'
'On another note - a BRAINSTORM DVD is in the works where you can (among tons of other stuff) also see footage from the old days. We hope to release the DVD by the end of June, 2007.'
'And to all those asking for a new album. Be cool! A new BRAINSTORM album will be recorded later on this year to be released in early 2008! We will continue our crusade and hope the next decade will be even more successful than the first one!'

AMON AMARTH finish video clip for 'Cry Of The Blackbirds'

Swedish metallers AMON AMARTH have uploaded photos from their "Cry of the Black Birds" video shoot at this location. The clip was directed last week by William C. Schacht. According to the band, "It took 20 hours of blood, sweat and pain, in minus 14 degrees Celsius, to get the video done. All that remains now is the editing of the filmed material."

"We would like to thank the production team, for a job well done. But especially we would like to thank the generous people of Baldur's Hird. Without their dedication and professionalism this video would not have been possible."

AMON AMARTH's latest CD, "With Oden on Our Side", entered the national album chart in Sweden at No. 21 and in Austria at No. 27. The album has also debuted on the German national chart at position No. 21. This is the highest chart entry in Germany of any band on the Metal Blade roster, according to a posting on the group's web site.

As previously reported, AMON AMARTH's video for the song "Runes to my Memory" has been posted online at this location (Windows Media).

THE OCEAN in search of guitar player!

THE OCEAN is looking for a new guitar player! We will not part ways with other members of the collective, but due to the other members' inability to cope with our heavy touring schedules, we need a new #1 axeman on the second guitar - especially for our US TOUR in May 2007!!!

Here's what we are looking for:

- DEDICATION not just to being on stage but to being in a band, with all that entails!
- TIME for extensive touring and for frequent rehearsals in BERLIN.
- We’re looking for someone who LEARNS FAST and ON HIS OWN
- We’re looking for a LIVE WIRE who KICKS ASS with us!
- Last, we're looking for someone with as broad a musical background as our own, someone willing to transcend the borders between metal, hardcore, rock, soundtrack-music and jazz with us. Think you're our man? Drop us a line.

MALEVOLENT CREATION - New album recordings

The new album is finally in the making!

Veteran Florida-based extreme metallers MALEVOLENT CREATION have commenced the recording sessions for their tenth full-length album, "Doomsday X". "Dave [Culross] finished tracking the drums and arrived home this evening," the band writes in an update.

"They recorded 12 songs and Dave is very happy with the natural feel they achieved, without sounding overly mechanical. The ProTools at their disposal were not used to alter the drum sounds. Dave wanted to give everyone a real feel for his power and style, without the over use of recording technology. They are taking about a week break and then the guitar tracking starts. Dave and the band are very pleased with the progress so far and can't wait for the upcoming tours."

MALEVOLENT CREATION's current recording and touring lineup is:
Jon Rubin - Guitars
Phil Fasciana - Guitars
Dave Culross - Drums
Jason Blachowicz - Bass
Brett Hoffmann - Vocals

DEATHSTARS - Hit the road again!

Beware! Europe's glammiest Death Rock band of all, DEATHSTARS, is hitting the road again in March and April! After two very successful tours last year - first headlining their way throughout the continent, afterwards supporting mighty CRADLE OF FILTH - Sweden's dark yet sparkling sons will be back for more in spring. Be sure to experience the full 48 Carat Of Darkness at the following occasions!

DEW-SCENTED - Album ready, but no drummer!

DEW-SCENTED just finished the recordings for their upcoming album "Incinerate". A statement from the band: "It’s done! 'Incinerate' is finally mixed and mastered. Andy Sneap has exceeded all our expectations and this new album came out being the best sounding release so far. We can’t wait for you to hear it! It will be released on March 30th in Europe via Nuclear Blast records and we should have some advance sound samples available for you here on the site in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here is the album’s final tracklist:

1. Exordium [Intro]
2. Vanish Away
3. Final Warning
4. That’s Why I Despise You
5. The Fraud
6. Into The Arms Of Misery
7. Perdition For All
8. Now Or Never
9. Aftermath
10. Everything Undone
11. Contraddictions
12. Retain The Scars
13. Exitus [Outro]

We have additionally recorded some cool bonus tracks and are playing around with several sweet ideas for a limited edition release with a special packaging and plenty of extra material. More details on this soon!"

In other news, DEW-SCENTED are looking for a new Drummer: "After six albums and so many good years and experiences together, our drummer Uwe is no longer with Dew-Scented. We thank him for the great time and wish him all the best for the future! This leaves Dew-Scented looking for a new steady drummer. We are searching for someone to take over the drum spot in a solid way and as his main priority.

Please note that you must be
a) a skilled player
b) available for rehearsals / recording / touring
c) located in a logistically suitable area of the world and
d) devoted to the cause of thrash metal ;-)

Please feel free to contact us in case you think that you could be a good match: or

On occasion of the release of the new DEW SCENTED album, DEW-SCENTED will play an exclusive Releaseshow on Friday, the 30th of March in the Tower Club in Bremen! More infos:

Chris Harris and Jon Wiederhorn of report: "Erik Danielsson, the malevolent singer/bassist fronting Swedish black-metal magicians WATAIN, doesn't have a flip bone in his body. To see WATAIN perform live is nothing if not a pestilent experience, which is just the way Danielsson wants it. Instead of fake blood, WATAIN drench the crowd with what the frontman maintains is real blood, collected "from the WATAIN cellars, of course". The band actually douses itself in the same blood during sets, which, when coupled with sweat, creates a pong on their bus a label spokesperson described as "that of an open grave".

From the stage, Danielsson has "seen people both crying and vomiting at the same time". He's even watched fans "taking the blood that we've thrown at them and licking it up off the floor, and giving this genuine impression of being psychopaths all of a sudden".

He said he often wonders "what those people thought when they woke up that morning, in their clean little beds at home. Did they think that they would stand and lick blood from the floor at the concert halls? We aim to present a different reality to them, because this reality exists far away from the nice little houses with clean beds. That is what happens at a WATAIN gig, and we look forward to bringing this to the US, because it's fertile soil for such experiments. It's all about wild, raw fire and getting loose. Some people can take it. Some can't."

Read the entire article at, and come have a taste on the upcoming tour with KREATOR and CELTIC FROST!

ANCIENT RITES is sorry to announce that guitar player Raf Jansen is leaving the band after having spent two years and released the "Rubicon" album with the band.
"I've enjoyed playing with ANCIENT RITES, but I had to make a decision", Raf comments. "As things are these days, something had to go, and after a long deliberation, I chose to leave ANCIENT RITES.

AHRYEPH demands much of my time these days, as do producing and I have a day job on the side as well. Over the years, ANCIENT RITES have proven to rise above every obstacle they encountered, so me leaving won't even leave a dent in the band's future. They'll still stand as strong as ever. I wish the guys the very best for the future, as I'm looking forward to my own with AHRYEPH."

London, England: Candlelight Records today confirms the worldwide signing of Carnal Forge. Testify For My Victims, current working title for the band's anticipated sixth album, is to be mixed at Black Lounge Studios in early February with an expected May release date. Two videos have already been filmed for the album tracks "Numb" and "Burning Eden." Both directed by Owe Lingvall (Village Road Film).

Bassist Lars Linden says, "Carnal Forge are very happy to have signed to Candlelight Records. We have an utterly brilliant peace of work soon to be released. We are all very satisfied how the songs have turned out and are very confident in the new more varied material. It will mean some change for you who have heard the previous albums, but hopefully you find it for the better. We for sure do and we are all very eager to get the new material out to the audience and to get out on tour again."

Formed in 1997, Carnal Forge released their debut Who's Gonna Burn (War Music) in 1998. Signing with Century Media in early 2001 the band released Please... Die later in the year. The band would tour Europe supporting The Haunted and Nile and make the first of several prestigious festival appearances (Linden making his debut with the band at the year's 2000 Decibel Festival and Wacken Open Air). The More You Suffer (2003) and Aren't You Dead Yet (2004) would continue to see the band expand fan and worldwide sales base. Vocalist Jens C. Mortensen would join the band's ranks in late 2004 impressing fans with his strong live performances. In early 2006 the band began work on new material and expect an extensive world tour after the springtime album release.

Carnal Forge currently features vocalist Jens C. Mortensen, guitarists Jari Kuusisto and Petri Kuusisto, drummer Stefan Westerberg with bassist Lars Linden.

More NAMM week L.A.-area shows confirmed

Last night, Toronto’s CRASH KELLY performed their first concert of 2007 - a sold-out Hollywood concert alongside legendary guitar shredder Paul Gilbert (Racer X, Mr. Big). It was the kickoff of a five-show L.A. blitzkrieg around the annual NAMM convention, and the beginning of a new round of touring in support of their acclaimed, Gilby Clarke-produced 2006 release, Electric Satisfaction.

'I have shared the stage with a few of my guitar heroes over the years, but playing with Paul Gilbert was something else,' says guitarist/vocalist Sean Kelly. 'As well as getting a free clinic on amazing guitar playing, it was nice to play with someone who shares a love for classic rock and pop songwriting. All in all, another great night in Hollywood!"

The group will not perform tonight (Jan. 18), but Kelly himself will participate in the 'NAMM Jam' at the Fender Bar and Grill in Fullerton, Calif. He’ll join the likes of James Kottak (Scorpions), Doug Blair (W.A.S.P.), Jack Frost (Seven Witches), Ira Black (Lizzy Borden), Marten Andersson (Lizzy Borden/George Lynch Band), Patrick Johannson (Yngwie Malmsteen) and more.

From there, CRASH KELLY will play four shows over the next four nights, including a newly confirmed Hollywood show at the Cat Club with Hookers N’ Blow (featuring Guns N’ Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed). 'I had the privilege of having a former GNR guy produce my new album, and now I get to play alongside a current member," Kelly says. 'Playing the Cat Club with the Hookers N’ Blow will be incredible - a bunch of guys who have played stadiums and arenas around the world, sweating it out in a cool room to some classic rock tunes for all the right reasons."

CRASH KELLY on tour:
1/19 Fender Bar - Fullerton, CA
1/20 Cat Club - Hollywood, CA w/ Hookers N’ Blow
1/21 Knitting Factory - Hollywood, CA w/ Broken Teeth, Sasquatch
1/22 Key Club - Hollywood, CA w/ Metal Skool

Solitude Aeturnus - State of the Doomion January 22, 2007
Heavy hails to all!!

A full version newsletter to everyone is in order at this time.

First, we would like to thank everyone thus far that has sent such kind words of enthusiasm on our webpage and myspace concerning our new album 'Alone'. The response has been nothing short of overwhelming and we thank each of you for the good feelings we have felt from your words and support! Massacre has informed us that this album has received the highest press marks in the history of the label! Unbelievable!

Album of the month in most of the European magazines including Rock Hard, Metal Hammer (both Germany and Greece), Heavy and others! We knew we had a great album to deliver but when it is received with such enthusiasm it warms our black hearts to no end. 'Alone' will finally be released in North America on April 3rd. And for you vinyl maniacs, Eat Metal Records is planning a release on wax very soon! This will include the digipack only song 'Embrace' as well.

With regards to the erroneous track listing on the album, what can we say? There was some confusion somewhere in the chain with Massacre and because we were running behind schedule on the release, the band themselves were not able to proofread the final art. Whatever, it’s not that big of a deal and will be fixed on the next pressing. In case you’re wondering the correct track listing in the order the band wanted it was #2 Waiting for the Light, #4 Sightless.

With regards to the bonus track 'Embrace', at the last minute Robert changed the title to 'Lucid Destitution' and I thought the changes were made to the final draft that was sent to Massacre. But alas, somehow I screwed it up as I checked and sure enough, the title was not changed in the track listing (although I did change it elsewhere in the credits thereby creating the confusion). So the song will now forever remain 'Embrace' as the digipack is now sold out. Maybe we’ll correct it for the vinyl version (lookout insane collectors!)? We’ll see.

Live shows! Poland on the 9th in Krakow and on the 12th in Warsaw to be filmed for a DVD release! Also playing the Real Steel fest in Mexico City on March 3rd and the Chicago Power Fest on April 20th. A local date in the DFW area is also planned for early April.

The long awaited Concept of God CD will finally see the light of day this coming spring on Massacre Records! Recorded in 2001, the album is sure to please all Solitude Aeturnus fans! The band was a short lived project started by Steve Moseley and Robert Lowe during some down time after the release of Adagio. Also features John 'Wolf' Covington and current Solitude bassist James Martin. Sound clips and more info coming soon on the release date!

And now onto the jaw dropping news. Robert is joining Candlemass as their new lead singer. We’re not joking. We’re also letting everyone know that nothing has changed in Solitude Aeturnus and Robert will continue on with Solitude Aeturnus as well. Our live touring schedule is very minimal and we in the band see no conflict whatsoever with this situation. I personally support the decision 100%. It’s all about the music to all of us and this is a chance for Robert to be involved in making some more great music outside of Solitude Aeturnus. Why not, right?

Leif Edling has been a friend of mine for many years and the decision has been made between both bands with utmost respect from the Candlemass camp. Robert is still 100% committed to continuing on with SA as we would normally have continued onward. He can’t escape it just like myself as it’s in is brain and blood. I know that the next Candlemass album will sound unbelievable to my ears as I’m both a fan of the band and Roberts vocals so speaking for myself, I’ll win out by getting free copy of the new album (on vinyl and cd please)!

Ha! Seriously, this will be a great opportunity for Robert and we all wish him and Candlemass great success together. Don’t worry, Solitude Aeturnus will do another record and continue to play live as much as our personal schedules will allow. Look for more new on the Candlemass webpage with regard to their new album and live schedule for this year!

Thanks and praise again to all of you that have posted on our web and myspace! I am personally touched by each of your comments and look forward to creating more heavy sounds for the ears!

John Perez/Solitude Aeturnus

Candlemass announce new singer

In case you missed the Solitude Aeturnus entry above, Swedish doom legends CANDLEMASS have issued the following update:

"After months of auditions it is now official who replaces Messiah Marcolin in Candlemass. Robert Lowe, well known for his work with SOLITUDE AETURNUS, is the man who killed all the competition and showed that he beyond doubt is the most capable man for the job. A worthy successor!! Robert will still be fronting SA, but since there’s a whole ocean between the bands, we/Candlemass, feel that this is a great solution that is very beneficial for everybody.

The mighty voice from Dallas Texas, is thrown into the fire immediately and is starting the vocal work on the new Candlemass album in a matter of days. Candlemass are sure that the words 'amazing' and 'incredible' will be used to describe the result! Candlemass would also like to thank all the gifted singers who applied for the job. Many talents from all over the world have been heard. We are sure that they will continue to be heard for a long time, but not in Candlemass. The band have finally found the ideal replacement for Messiah Marcolin - Robert Lowe! The new album will KILL!!"

VITAL REMAINS Complete New Album; Release Date Set For April 3rd

Extreme metal titans VITAL REMAINS have wrapped up the recording process for their much-anticipated new album with renowned producer Erik Rutan (Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore). This effort marks the group's second recording with Glen Benton (Deicide) on vocals, and promises to be their most blasphemous and devastating offering yet. The new offering is set for an April 3rd release.

Tony Lazaro (guitars) checks in with the following report: 'We've just returned home from Mana Recordings in Florida, where we spent the last month working on the new album. We can’t wait for you guys to hear it. I really think all of you are going to sh*t yourselves and to those few who thought we couldn't top Dechristianize, you're in for a real surprise.

'A big thanks to Erik Rutan, who really worked us to near death! Much respect to him and Shaun Otani for really working so hard and pushing us to the point of insanity in order to get us to deliver our best performances, which we think you did without a doubt! We thought Dechristianize was a tough album to record, but this effort proved us wrong.

This album, hands down, sets the bar for death metal. We spent 12-13 hours a day working on this with no days off. The drums took 10 days alone to track all nine songs. Glen’s vocals sound sicker than ever. His performance and attack was awesome! Dave's leads and harmonies are some of his best work to date and what a great drum performance. The overall sound of the new album is just HUGE! We are very proud of the results of all this hard work. We think our fans will soon agree without question that this is our Reign In Blood.

'On April 3rd, the world will finally get to hear this unholy brutality! Stay tuned for news on our first promotional video and tons of touring! Hammer down the nails.'

Sentenced Fans - Live show: CD + DVD out now!

SENTENCED's final show recorded on a 2 disc CD and DVD is now available throughout Europe and most other territories!

Without a doubt, SENTENCED are masters of melancholy, and their second incarnation delivered a decisive impulse that others such as HIM and The Rasmus successfully turned into poppier sounds yet SENTENCED remained always true to metal.

After a run of funeral appearances on various European festivals, the inventors of suicide rock did a final run of club shows in their native Finland that culminated in two shows in their hometown of Oulu. On this farewell voyage, they were accompanied by a dear friend for the 'Home Soil Funeral Procession' that gave an intimate insight into the life on the Finnish road.

In addition, you’ll find extra material such as a 30-minute, animated photo gallery, all seven of the band’s music videos, fun stuff like behind-the-scenes footage of photo and video shoots, several signing sessions in Finland, as well as extensive interviews with their original singer Taneli Jarva (who also did vocals for five songs) and Sami Lopakka together with vocalist Ville Laihiala. All together, this DVD release gives you hours of material, mainly from the last year of the band’s existence.

DESPISED ICON Recording Update; Embark On Canadian/U.S. Run With Job For A Cowboy

The Montreal-based deathcore six-piece DESPISED ICON are currently in the midst of recording their sophomore Century Media release with acclaimed producer/former guitarist Yannick St-Amand (Beneath The Massacre, Ion Dissonance, Neuraxis). The new effort will be mixed by the renowned Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Megadeth) starting on Feb. 10th and is currently scheduled for a May release.

The group will also kick off a three-week Canadian/U.S. tour as direct support to Job For A Cowboy on Feb. 28th before heading to Europe in March with Unearth, Job For A Cowboy and Daath. See below for the complete itinerary.

Alex Erian (vocals) checks in with the following report: 'We've been in the studio for about two weeks now. The drums were recorded with a click track/metronome and the result is tight as f**k. Some of the parts on this record are faster then anything we've done in the past.

Alex's drumkit sounds amazing. Expect more blastbeats and gravity blasts! We've drilled holes in our heads and came up with loads of inventive breakdowns for you mosh enthusiasts. I know this is the type of stuff that all bands say, but trust me, it's true and you won't be disappointed.

'The guitars are about halfway done, and we can't wait to see how killer things will sound once Andy Sneap starts mixing. He made some of the best sounding recordings out there, so we're definitely stoked to be working with him.

Don Clark from Invisible Creature is currently working on our album layout. He handled the art direction on Norma Jean's last two albums, so you know it's going to look sick. We've worked twice as hard on this record and are very pleased with how it's coming along.

'Also, a thanks goes out to all of those who have tried out/shown interest for the guitarist spot. We've just picked the top three candidates and will invite them over to Montreal to jam and hang out with us as soon as we come back from the studio. Future plans include the shooting of our new video with DBM Films in February, with a Canadian/U.S. and European tour in March/April. We're stoked to finally tour Europe and can't wait to play in our country again!'

2006 saw DESPISED ICON hit the tour circuit on high-profile tours with Hatebreed, Behemoth, Black Dahlia Murder, Napalm Death, Exodus, Morbid Angel, Through The Eyes of The Dead and Krisiun.

Isis on vinyl

OK folks, after much patience on your part and the (finally subsided) holiday mayhem, Robotic Empire is rightly stoked to announce the availability of ISIS' new full-length In The Absence Of Truth on vinyl in the 2xLP format.

Although the European and Japanese releases of this have already hit the market (along with some of the US pressing through the band), we are expecting this to be fairly hectic as ISIS' fans are pretty freakin' rabid. Because of this, we will do our best to answer all questions in this post and ask you please refrain from writing us unless we haven't covered your question/problem here.

Without further blabbering, here is our description of this stunning album along with a bunch of photos, pressing info, ordering information and more:

If you haven't heard the album yet and would like to sample some tracks, two different ones are available online:

* "Dulcinea"
* "Holy Tears"

Torche 2007 News

2007 should be a more productive year for us. We'll finally see the remixed s/t LP (the cd will also include the old mix as well). Instead of releasing a 7", we'll be releasing a 6 song 10" ep with Robotic Empire (recorded Aug 2005) and John Baizley will provide the artwork. The vinyl 10" will also include the cd so both formats included in the package. Hopefully, we'll have both of these available in time for our ISIS/JESU tour. Let's keep our fingers crossed.......Next LP will be recorded this summer with Kurt Ballou at God City in Salem, MA.
