MARILLION Sounds That Can't Be Made (earMUSIC)
This latest album is immediate enough to suck in the doubters and expansive
enough for the hardcore. All in all, Marillion just keep doing what they do, and
as 'Sounds...' confirms, they do it very well indeed. (David Randall) |

MAGNUM On The 13th Day (SPV)
It's been a good year for classic bands rediscovering their mojo as Saga
and Asia have both released fine albums this year and now Magnum
join the list. They have upped the pomp of old and this album is
their strongest since they reformed. (Jason Ritchie). |

KATATONIA Dead End Kings (Peaceville)
Katatonia have created an absolute gem here. The quiet melancholia hand in hand
with occasionally thunderous riffage is a potent mix, a mix that reveals more of
its brilliance with every subsequent play ... Doom and gloom have never sounded
this good. Ever.
(Alan Jones) |

 |
ROBERT CRAY Nothin But Love (Provogue)
...the work of mature blues artist who plays to his strengths, as evidenced by a
startling vocal on the closing 'Sadder Days'. But in truth it's a slow burning
album that takes repeated listens to embrace its deep seated grooves, intricate
guitar work and real feel. (Pete Feenstra) |
