Joe Jackson - Very Best Of encompasses the recording career of an ambitious artist whose work has ranged from reggae-inflected new wave to classical crossover. Cosmopolitan even at his most punky, Jackson, a former Royal Academy of Music student found his greatest success with the album Night and Day, a blend of pop and Latin flavours that produced highly memorable tracks such as Breaking Us in Two.

The album, released by Universal Music TV on May 28th, coincides with his May/June tour, and includes the hits Steppin’ Out, Jumpin’ Jive, Is She Really Going Out With Him, and the ska syncopations of Beat Crazy.

Joe Jackson was a part of the trio of British-based artists that challenged the punk scene and brought a New Wave sound to the United States in the late 1970s, along with Elvis Costello and Graham Parker. Popular for his power pop and new wave sound early on before moving to more eclectic, pop/jazz/classical pieces, Jackson has remained one of the era’s most prolific and outstanding songwriters.
