Ten Questions with...

IAN McLAGAN

Legendary keyboard player who was a member of the Faces plus has appeared on albums by the Georgia Satellites, Billy Bragg, Jools Holland & many more.

1. What are you currently up to?

I'm touring the US with Billy Bragg promoting our CD, 'England, Half English'. I'll be touring the US, UK and Europe next year with the Bump Band to promote my new CD 'RISE & SHINE!'

2. What has been the highlight(s) and lowpoints(s) of your career to date?

There are so many, and hopefully more to come.

3. The Faces - a legend in the history of rock'n'roll. What is the fondest memory you have from those days? There is a box set rumoured to be coming out next year. Do you have any more details on this? Would there ever be a Faces reunion at all?

Every night was a party for the Faces and my book 'ALL THE RAGE' tells about so many of the highlights. I don't have any desire for a reunion now, but the Faces 4 CD box set will be released in the Spring of 2003, and that should turn on so many people who don't know about us. .

4. You are currently touring with Billy Bragg. How did you link-up with him? Do you play as part of his band or do the Bump Band play as support?

Billy and I met through a mutual friend some years ago. I'm touring and accompanying him at the moment, but normally tour as a member of The Blokes.

5. You have made many guest appearances on albums throughout the years. What was you personal highlight? In hindsight, were there any you wished you hadn't recorded?

There's too many to pick one out, and I don't regret anything I've done.

6.The Bump Band - how did the CD and tour do? Are fans receptive to new music or do they only come for the classics? (I only ask as many 70's acts touring now have no new product to promote save Live/Best Of albums eg Foreigner, REO Speedwagon as the fans only want the familiar songs!)

The fans seem to enjoy my new songs equally with the couple of Faces and Small Faces cuts I play. I'm only concerned with new music and my new album should prove that when it comes out at Christmas.

7. Is there anything else you want to achieve in the music business? Who would you have liked to and/or would like to work with?

I want people to hear my new songs. I'd like to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. It's about time we were recognised.

8. Outside of business, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Spending time with my family is the highest priority.

9. The last thing that you read?

Nick Tosches 'Sonny and The Devil
